  1. Daya I am really pleased to hear that you got your bike back. Hooray! I will speak to my partner about what lock he uses for his bicyle, which has until now (touch wood) remained untocuhed!
  2. They are selling a basic wooden set at Tiger (lewisham centre) for ?3. (Has Joseph, Mary, crib with Jesus, and two farm animal.
  3. Answered, although you might like to add a box that allows us to put in what age(s) we are referring to when reflecting on books and choices for our children.
  4. I know for myself when I have needed childcare between 5.00 - 6.30 it was really difficult to find someone, and i guess this is because most people where still working. I think for someone to work from 5.30 to 9 three days a week is part-time, and they might well have to have a job during the day, and could find it difficult to end their one job and go to anotehr (timings?) Could you ask at DVI if someone there might want to take your son home and pick up extra hours. There was the odd occasion when my daugther was at nursery, that i would use one of her carers to take her home. Not to state the obvious, but have you posted this in the family section ... i posted recently for a babysitter and got alot of responses.
  5. Voted and good luck to Shona
  6. Done ... Enjoyed filling it out
  7. I will have a look at the trampoline, i cant remember off hand - but I am sure it was from Argos.
  8. Ours has been outside for the past two years ..... No problems, and still looks fine .... I am not sure it would be that feasible to break them down and pack them away for winter .....
  9. Teacher_em thanks for that. I have some coloured overlays at work I could use those ! (I work with students in HE), might try optometrist first although I don't think it's a vision problem as such as today she read, no rubbing etc, but she does complain of having blurry eyes, so I best have them tested.
  10. Thanks for recommendations, will give them a try .
  11. I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for an optician for children? My daughter has complained about "blurry" vision. I have not taken too much notice of it, as it usually only happens when she is meant to be doing her school reading, however i have noticed her rubbing her eyes, and thought I should perhaps take her to an optician. SO has anyone had any experinece of this before . My duaghter is six. And any recommendations for opticians that deal with children? Thanks
  12. I know they have opened a new swimming pool in lewisham http://www.fusion-lifestyle.com/centres/Glass_Mill_Leisure_Centre They also have a cafe there; climbing wall etc ... never been myself but heard its good .....
  13. You will find quite a few recommendations if you do a search under "ironing" - here is a recent one with various recommendations ... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1176208,1176691#msg-1176691
  14. I can recommend Brendan Murton, he works for The penny group, near Liverpool station. He has been great with us, and has when needed come to our house in the evening when my husband and I have not both been able to get to him. His number is 020 79338715. I found him via a recommendation on the forum. He doesn't charge as such, but will tell you of any costs etc from products he might recommend to you.
  15. JulieP i had the same experience as you, but without children as JDR says. I popped in one day, no child, no pram, just me on my own looking forward to having a coffee and cake ... I tried to order a coffee, waited at the counter whilst the guy behind the counter was doing some counting up of receipts (fair enough), ignored me though for about 5 minutes (no acknowledging my presence with a smile or anything like that), and then when he had finsihed adding up his receipts, turned his back on me and walked into the kitchen! I walked straight out and have not been back since!
  16. If you do a search for Artastic, you will find that there are some full day art workshops if your child might be interested in that. Usually on a Monday and Wednesday. Other than that there are cooking workshops (crafty cooks), and sometimes sports days at peckham rye or some of the schools. Good luck!
  17. Dulwich picture gallery. I think they do classes for children.
  18. Yes surprsingly they do... I have some school items that are on their second year of washing and tags are still on. (Great thing is that when you pass on clothes etc, you can "tear" them off).
  19. I use Labels4kids - they do stick on ones which I like, but i think you can order ones that you iron, sew or stick!
  20. Why not try Jane Jefferson Cleaning. You can call her on 07775625026 or jennifer@JaneJeffersonCleaning.com She is local and has just started up a cleaning business. Cleaners are trained, you get a cleaning plan, work is checked etc.
  21. I can also recommend Kuki's (Shingo, although all stylists look equally good) .....
  22. If you want a one off the laundromat near Goose Green Playground, J impress I think, does ironing. ?1 an item. (More for bigger items) The laundromat next to dish and spoon do ironing as well, or where you looking at someone coming into your home to do it?
  23. Cos have a small but interesting selection of childrens clothes, perhaps not for basics but for a few things. I agree with Swedish and also Danish labels (molo etc) , usually great fabric and last forever. Zara?
  24. Went there yesterday hoping for some pizza and a movie, unfortunately they are not doing it this week or next. They might have the movies on for the last week of the school holidays, so best check they are on before you go. I think TDLP stuff as advertised there is still on.
