  1. Just a general heads up - our car was broken into in the parking lot (Choumert Grove/ Peckham) yesterday around 5.00ish. Nothing was stolen except a school bag (!), and unfortunatley car door jammed open with a screw driver or something so the door has to be repaired. We did report to the police as apparently there are cameras around the car park .......
  2. Thanks for that peckham it. Bt. engineer came out today and now fixed
  3. Our broadband stopped working yesterday. I just wondered if anyone else has had a problem in the SE15 - Nunhead area? BT will send out an engineer and fix it (if it is there fault) if not it will cost us ?120 to pay the engineer, so thought I would try and see if there is a general issue first!
  4. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1176208,1176640#msg-1176640 This is a link to a thread with previous recommendations on it, that might be a useful starting point .....
  5. I am sure I read today that the Ivyhouse is doing a course of adult dancing on Saturdays.
  6. Well done YoU! Glad to have been able be such a small part of this
  7. If I remember it correctly fee is for two hours party time, and also Toby came earlier, set up everything etc, so was at our house for over 3 hours ... All included in price,
  8. Definitely suitable for 4 years old, we had Toby for my daughters 4th and she still speaks about him. I would highly recommend Toby as well, he kept 25 children occupied for 2 hours.
  9. There is quite alot of info on ballet lessons on the forum, if you do a search you will see the individual places that offer ... here is a thread with various options on it,,,,,, hth http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1169654,1177593#msg-1177593
  10. Ivydale school has a programme for mums/dads/carers and babies/toddlers ..... i know there is a singing class, and others. If you go past the school you can pick up the programme of whats on. Ivydale also run ballet for children on a Friday .... although you will need to speak to Fions Foster about this, as she runs it - however Fiona is on maternity leave at the moment, but quite a few younger children do the first ballet class at the school. I think Push studios might do ballet and other dance classes as well. Keep a look out for the local magazine that comes out monthly, lists quite a few of the activities on in the neighbourhood. You might also want to walk down to Dish and Spoon (Cheltenham roda) , which runs classes during the week (crafty cooks; and others for babies/toddlers), and also a good meeting place + coffee and cake
  11. Another recommendation for Aveeno, as well as Aveeno bath oil ..... Smells lovely, and is the one thing my excema prone daughter can use to help her.
  12. We have been to the church near goose green, which has a Christmas Eve childrens mass around 5 (check for exact times). Packed with children and families, go early for seats!
  13. Hi bonfire I had this as well ..... I think stay away from google!!!! I had no problems, although let's just say when my waters broke, there was definately a lot of it! So be prepared on that front! When I was told I had it, the midwife was not concerned at all, I think a doctor was nearby when I gave birth ..... Precautionary measures, and all turned out well. Good luck to you, I think this is fairly common ....
  14. I have had a spray tan ..... I went with real doubts / however it was a special occasion, i was going from winter climes here and all i can say is it was amazing! I wish I had done it before! If you do go for one, remember to take some loose clothing to put on afterwards, (you dont want to rub clothes etc against it) It does rub off a bit when you sleep, so sleep on old sheet etc, other than that it gives an instant glow!
  15. Can't wait either. Thank you very much
  16. I definately have some toys etc for you. I will sort them out next week wednesday, and give you a call to either drop off or pick up .....
  17. What is your cut off time, happy to donate something. Do you have anything you want, age range?
  18. I have sciatica so I feel your wifes pain! After finding it unbearable last year, i did a search on the forum, and found Bruggemeyers, phoned tearfully and they squeezed me in that day! I saw Habib three times and was finally pain free. They were recommended on the forum and I can highly recommend them as well. My husband had a few sessins with his brother (also an osteopath) when he had a motorbike accident. I would certainly go back if I feel those twinges again! Thye are on 99 Herne Hill (parking usually available on the road) Telephone - 020 7274 6182 I hope your wife gets it sorted ....
  19. you could check with lewisham and southwark council regarding the adult and family/children's classes that they run. they might well do a dressmaking course. the thomas carlton centre is at the end of choumert grove where classes run and you could pick up a brochure on what they offer.
  20. There is also the Christmas open studios fair in Deptford between 6th and 8th December Www.cockpitarts.com ?3 entry. On Friday 6th it's free entry from 11 to 9 I went last year and its great, 165 designers, local artists display their goods There's also a Christmas sheep kids workshop
  21. SEgirl thanks for the link to craftyfoxmarket ... it looks fantastic and I will definately be going to that ....
  22. i have just spent a pleasurable hour in bias on bellenden rd. other than the beautiful clothes, they have some really sweet and interesting note pads and stationery and a range of gifts. i see they now have mens wear as well. a bonus is that it gets wrapped!
  23. I am always interested in supporting the small local and independent shops in the surrounding area. With Christmas coming, I wondered if anyone would like to contribute to this thread about gifts; food markets etc that might be of interest. Although I do use Amazon and other retailers, I am aware that I will be spending money over this period, and would like to put it in the pockets of smaller businesses where possible. So if anyone interested, perhaps we could use this as a thread for letting each other know about all the wonderful, quirky, interesting, finds for the holiday period. So to start with I will mention the bookshop (will come and put the name in when I remember!) on Barry Road, great selection of books - I got my 13 year old niece a fashion book from there and she has been raving about it! Some good ideas for smaller children and an even better selection of books for adults. I bought some book vouchhrs from them (they start from ?5) as gifts for teachers last year ..... Last Christmas I ordered Ham (didnt want a whole one, but they sold me some slices) and a cheese selection from Dish and Spoon ..... will do the same next year. Will add more ....
