LOL Insane country. Very very bad stuff can happen to good people. But over all when a person even comes close to the street and looks like they might cross cars stop. Given: people cross at corners not randomly as they do here.

Here's some red meat for you: I'm back from a month traveling coast to coast north to south in the USA and politics aside and the probable reason of police enforcement of traffic violations.... all this ASIDE in most places US drivers stop on a dime for pedestrians and intersections are left clear of cars. TBH I'd like to see a lot more use of boxed intersections here and a lot more courtesy to pedestrians. Enjoy

Please help! Stolen suitcase Fenwick Rd Thursday night
mynamehere replied to DC1's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
I really hope you get your things back. This could happen to anyone of us as it often seems like a good idea to pack the car before an early start. Dare I ask.... did you leave the door open accidentally? How did they get in? Did you cover your stuff with a "black cloth". Don't let it spoil your trip, been there done that like most people on here I dare say. -

I agree with live and let live as much as I can WonderCat and Jules. The party was on the next street sharing back gardens with ours. And it was diagonally 500 meters which means there were a large number of back bedroom occupants who didn't sleep. I had a great deal of time for calculations of people plus summer plus rights At 4am we walked around and considered how sound does and does not travel. They stopped when we asked. Yes to telling your neighbours yes to rights to have fun but if everyone uses the right to an all night party even once a year then that's a lot of all night parties. All day parties? I hear your pain. Just asking out loud : what should the rules be? To balance rights There's still a lot of hot summer nights to work this through staring at the ceiling I use earplugs btw

How late should you be able to party outside? Should private homes have the same rules as pubs for outdoor noise? Just asking what you think after a garden party opposite went on til 4am and forced our attendance I think outdoor noise for private homes and pubs should be the same: respect your neighbours

Anti-social neighbours - Southwark refuses to act
mynamehere replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in The Lounge
You are making yourself ill. Operative word is you and I say that with concern for a stranger who has posted something really heartfelt. Between the hours of 8 and 22 children can kick balls. And people can get on with how they live their lives. Details about that family's life are not up for conversation whether they should / could go to the park or to a club. Wear ear plugs in the morning and evening. Find white noise solutions. But first and foremost walk away from the corner you have painted yourself into emotionally. From 10 to 5 be out and about. Museums, walks, picnics, day trips. Stop thinking about your neighbours and how they live. This is written with concern for you. Read happy books and laugh and watch movies you like. Being positive is harder than being negative that's why evil does in fact win. Talk to friends who don't just reinforce the hate you've surrounded yourself with. -

Here's what the police have to say. If the woman who helped reads this please get in touch with the police! If you know her, please tell her that her help is needed in this investigation. From Louise Wissen: The 2 boys who were robbed didn't have their phones stolen but one of the boys told (the thieves) to take his bike maybe due to fact he was threatened with a knife. Children should always tell their parents where they are going and who they're with. Parents should also tell their children not to have anything expensive on display that could attract attention, Mobile phones are the most common item that teenagers have on display.Unless they need to call someone they should keep the phone out of sight. Also be aware of their surroundings. On the report it mentions a female told the 2 suspects to leave the boys alone but the officers say they have yet to identify who she is. If you know who this female is then I think the police would like to speak with her in connection with this incident to see if she has any more information that could help with the investigation. local police referendum key message

I think you have stepped forward to confront this beautifully Huge thanks! -
Ask / request / strongly insist And get an updated list as to where the charge points are
-
Ask your councillor(s) for a recharge station. Maybe you live near each other and can share! Get the car. Could you do a lead from your house front to the street when you need to charge? The list you have is not up-to-date, there are more than that. Get someone on the phone. A charge point on your house front is subsidised ask your car agent for details and installers. You'll have to upgrade to 100amps if you're not there already
-
in for my family
-
yes you can get a grant ask your car dealer as the installer and grant come through them and at the same time you may want to upgrade the power at your home if it is "60amps" to 100amps. This upgrade is from the power network not your energy company and it should be free

About the local bobby posting here, it's about using media and crowd sourcing ideas and solutions, being modern in approaching how we do things and keeping the freedom in democracy by not imposing draconian laws. Police cannot solve the problem, family, neighbours and neighbourhoods have to step forward in a "balanced" way (disclaimer: IMHO)

Local church 3am services exorcising the devil
mynamehere replied to mynamehere's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's curious how little concern people reading this have that exorcisms are carried out down the street from where we live. I find it odd that churches that have 3am services to get rid of the devil in their congregations are given land and buildings with relatively minor concern they make a bit of noise. I know for a fact that children are being subjected to exorcisms. It says it on the website of the church. Civilisation is really only a veneer -
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/south-london-church-fined-over-loud-3am-antidemon-services-a3206721.html I understand that Southwark actively encourages each and every group calling itself a church to set up shop anywhere it likes. I understand that this particular church is One where everyone associated with the church is encouraged to go forth and multiply churches with it seems Southwark's blessing I met a 12-year- old who said he'd been told he was possessed by his local church

These are what are called Ward Promises from ward Meetings. You ask we answer. The format in my opinion is excellent and very responsive to people who attend the meetings. You can find out about your local ward meeting by looking at http://content.met.police.uk/Borough/Southwark And http://content.met.police.uk/Page/TeamFinder?scope_id=1257246764302 http://content.met.police.uk/Team/Southwark/EastDulwich Email and ask when the next ward meeting is, they are informative and fun See you there that's when the priorities are set

New opportunity to save the woods!! Deadline Friday 23rd
mynamehere replied to Michaelcb's topic in The Lounge
I read the exchange that keeps some of you forever writing here endless loopy tosh: no legal case to answer, a tempest in a teapot. Everyone go home, nothing to see. Except, except the reality of 10 million pounds and more that will be spent on cement and diggers where nothing at all was needed no bones disturbed no trees felled no birds and bats and an infinity of insects displaced. Cemeteries are the very last place inner-city councils can just leave alone. The only place sentient creatures can wander and pretend they are alone for a few moments. As much as the dead think they must prefer to be left in peace. -
Constant rubbish at Holmes Place, Oakhurst Grove
mynamehere replied to Peckham Park's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
360 Upland Road is another eyesore. The heaped rubbish is entirely on a private forecourt. The private rental flats must be horrible. The building on the outside is in a state of crumbling neglect. I'll apply to Environmental Enforcement. Anyone know this property?
