Mobile Traffic Enforcement - They Have to Go !
mynamehere replied to Mr.Edwards's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree with BruceA. A Parking Enforcement system has to be run with the utmost integrity: there are plenty of grey areas and plenty of confusing road markings. The purpose is: safe driving and clear main roads. I also complained here some time back that I was ticketed while standing by my car in front of my house on a street with no restrictionss at all. You all responded quite loudly that I should learn how to park. The southwark car that ticketed me sat and did nothing during the school rush. The two men sat and ate and chatted. Then the car sprang to life and raced twice up and down in front of my house. Drove off. Raced back. At that moment one of the men jumped out and put a ticket on my car. He jumped back in and raced off while I stood in the road and yelled. I have a cut drive in front of my house. My forecourt was loaded with wood and such. My car stood in front of my drive and, yes, the tyres touched the cut paving stone. I did take it up with parking and it became ridiculous talking about the wheels of my car and this 1/2 inch of paving stone and whether I am allowed to stand in front of my house and a cut curb. Why were these men on a residential street with no restrictions that was empty? I've seen them since, the same car and men driving in the same way on an empty street with no restrictions. And when I stopped and looked at them I do believe they remembered me and accelerated away although it was perfectly clear they had intended to ticket a car for some minutia of transgression. While Rome burns. -
Why not imagine big for neglected inner city stuctures. What do you think? http://im.media.ft.com/content/images/66dd8b74-ef8f-11e0-941e-00144feab49a.img

Since you've started the thread.. A "modern" building that was not designed to first use natural air and light and temperature should have not been approved.

http://www.wrap.org.uk/local_authorities/research_guidance/online_recycling_information_system_oris/mapping.html Have a look at this and ask WHY? is waste recycling not state of the art world class top drawer BEST in a country where our scientists know best/ do best/ invent best/ understand best. Why is it hit and miss and let's invent our own system? The man in charge of recycling in Southwark isn't an expert. He's not even that interested in the subject. It's an assignment and he's winging it as he goes and what we see on the street is just a series of hit and miss. Has anyone studied and compared the best of the world. And then gone to the next level? No. And it probably wouldn't be any more expensive than... oh let's try this now, oophs... what about this

Have you noticed that the robberies have... have they? I think they have stopped. The police caught one man and they've stopped. I think with as much information as you can provide and as much insight as you can give, possibly the police will catch this gang as well. Your comments here are read by the good guys. It's amazing the amount of damage a few people can cause everyone else.

New bins delivered whats the green bin exactly for
mynamehere replied to Google's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The idea I offered the council was: Brown Bins for food and garden waste and Green Bins for everything else. They can dump the green bins on a conveyor belt and rapid sort what's there. No third bin. More sorted. Less waste/ more recycling. The council said NO -
Ticket question: a friend was fined for turning onto Rye Lane as the 63 does from the parking garage, past Primark south past the Multiplex cinema and then left off Rye Lane. Is there something illegal about that trip?

Thanks... been surfing the web and I've come to this conclusion myself. What happens to pregnant ladies in hospitals I assume and hope is a controlled experiment. What adults do is another type of control. My question started with a conversation with a student this afternoon. Under 18, whatever the vagaries of the law, (and the the law cannot keep up and making everything "illegal"...) at 17 it is definitely illegal and "selling" can bring down 3 years and an unlimited fine.

Is "laughing gas", nitrous oxide legal? Is it "safe"? Thanks for your thoughts

I would like to see the car park turned into a vertical urban farm which would include everything that you are doing: art, bar/restaurant + bees, fruit trees, chickens, vegetables, vines a green house on the roof? Parking at the bottom. Grape vines hanging down the sides.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
mynamehere replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How much does it cost for the council to "weed" streets? There must be a cost. More or less than library services to be discussed in Dulwich Library. I'd rather weed my bit and have the library left alone. -
Crime in SE22 2007/2008 Has it got any better ?
mynamehere replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Upland Road 200's has joined the string of burgleries: Thursday night people at home. I do not know the details but the police have been notified and have become involved as they are with the whole series this (it must be one gang) gang has hammered the area with. It is not just about double locking day and night, it's about getting these people off the streets. You are all clearly very clever. How do you catch crooks with no fear of breaking and entering when people are there? Shall we all install CCTV INside our houses. Shall we set traps? -
When my son was little we'd go to Peckham Park with a cheap pretty plastic ball. More than once a dog would run after the ball catch it and of course puncture it and run off holding the ball in its teeth. We'd have nothing more to play with and somehow the fact that it was "cheap" made us the nobody important. The dog and its owner went on their way and we threw the broken ball away and went ours.

Anyone fancy yarn bombing Peckham and East Dulwich? CANCELLED
mynamehere replied to maryearlam's topic in The Lounge
I think this project should be reinstated. Bones knit. Fractures knit. To come together strongly. I cannot knit unfortunately but others in my family are world class museum level knitters. I think some knitters might be on a final summer break before school (there could be a school knitting project for knitting communities if a knitting teacher would be willing to host the idea). Knitting is a loving Nan who makes silly socks and scarves and hats. I've come to understand this idea and I think it needs to be recreated with a new pattern on a different loom with stronger warp weft and woof: You are all much better than I at this weaving and spinning of yarns and words -

What is your collective opinion: Does good double glazing as well as proper locks help protect? -
Here's an "e-petition" to sign: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/774 "The reintroduction of State Grammar Schools Responsible department: Department for Education To effectively support pupils who show ability and desire to achieve, State Grammar Schools should be reintroduced as part of population density based school cluster learning hubs. To counter any possible charge of elitism, these schools should be first located in the most deprived communities."

Art installation in Sylvester Road

I completely agree to putting out collectively at designated places and dates. Once a month is good. Nothing should be in skips that might be of interest to someone: Doors stacked to the side and so forth. -
Alan, the Gratitude Dance is splendid! Thanks for sharing

I agree with the posters who want to go in a block and tell everyone to go home. It isn't the police's fault and it isn't the economy. I teach in Peckham and these are kids from my classes and there are other people here who know them and they belong for the most part to normal families who cannot in a pinch control them. I teach Maths and when I try to teach I cannot control some of my pupils who are intent on stopping everyone's learning. The same kids who are dead centre looting refuse to learn and squander opportunity when they are showered with it. The police should be supported by all of us walking to the problem and all the parents who know their kids are not at home have to get out there and get them home. None of us are perfect not teachers or police or parents. Life isn't a game show or a lottery which is what all the kids are allowed to think. They don't want to learn and work because they think that's for suckers.
