The last farm house where the last farmers son died in the 1920's (????) was just ripped down with no planning objections to build ? flats: north end of Court Lane

I just heard Cameron on Radio 4 talk about ripping up regulation. To add to stories, in the early 2000's there was talk of "digging" into / under Dawson Heights on the Dunstan's side to build a school! It is endlessly exhausting that "government" has no firm moral compass that all victories to save green land exhaust volunteers and are in danger as soon as the volunteers grow old and look away rus in urbe, phr. The height of these blocks will completely change view lines from existing buildings and they'll change forever the real villages Peckham and Nunhead were.

London Tonight (ITV) did a special feature tonight (just after 6pm) on the re-issued guidance from the Ministry for Transport (Cycling Minister Robert Goodwill) on Pavement Cycling that was given to Stop Killing Cyclists following representations to the Minister for Transport Lady Kramer. The Ecologist have also taken up the story: http://www.theecologist.org/blogs_and_comments/commentators/2237338/metropolitan_police_stop_persecuting_cyclists.html

5 volunteers needed from Southwark. A deputation is scheduled to Southwark Council pressing for better cycling facilities on the evening of 22nd January, on behalf of Stop Killing Cyclists. The theme of the meeting is active lives for older people and so will be pointing out the need for safer cycling infrastructure needed for older people. Very few pensioners cycling in London - yet in other cities like Tokyo loads of pensioners cycle, due to fact it is easier to cycle on sore joints than it is to walk and the safe infrastructure allows them to do so. You would not have to talk, 6 people are needed to part of a group

Cycling is allowed on the pavement but it has to meet very well defined legal guidelines : very young, very old, very controlled with clear deference to pedestrian welfare. This was confirmed within this last week and I'll post that confirmation: from the meeting with the Minister for Transport Susan Kramer: I have just received a letter from Robert Goodwill, who is the Tory "Minister" for cycling, following my meeting with Susan Kramer, the ib Dem LMinister for Transport. Whilst the letter covers only a few of the cycling safety issues I raised with Susan, it does cover my request for ministerial clarification on the guidance for implementation of the fixed penalty fines for pavement cycling. This follows my being told by Operation Safeway police that they had been instructed by their senior officers to ignore the guidance and to implement the letter of the law instead. The GOOD news is the minister re-endorsed the original guidance by the Minister who introduced the fines, Paul Boateng which was : "'The introduction of the fixed penalty is not aimed at responsible cyclists who sometimes feel obliged to use the pavement out of fear of the traffic, and who show consideration to other pavement users when doing so. Chief police officers, who are responsible for enforcement, acknowledge that many cyclists, particularly children and young people, are afraid to cycle in the road... sensitivity and careful use of police discretion is required " This was one of the issues the Vauxhall Cross Demo was addressing. He also gives a potential positive to our suggestion that the DoT should be monitoriing what local councils are doing on cycling, so that the data can be examined and compared and badly performing councils identified and held to account. I have attached the letter as a file. Yes We Can! thanks Donnachadh

We could, almost, have "it all" but we hire in politicians who crave control and who groom contractors for their own benefit -
It's the dynamic of how people talk depending on who's in the room. The conversation on a major highway and the people talking are car drivers and HGV drivers is identical to the conversation on a city street where the people talking are car drivers and cyclists. HGV to car driver: you t**t. Car driver to cyclist: You T**t. Just an observation.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/video/great-escape-car-smashes-lorry-121900903.html?vp=1 This is not so much about the Yahoo story about a car driver who almost took out the M25 recently and the quick thinking HGV Driver who saved Xmas for a lot of people and himself from a lawsuit? This is about the comments about how people drive that follow the story.

Selectively, most important first, start to insulate the rooms if you're going to stay there. Same for the windows if they're not double glazed. Divide the house up by say 5 years and do 1/5 of the house a year. Include the floors. You'll end up with a great house. Insulation is just slabs on walls and repainting. Grants you qualify for? And what everyone else said as well
