  1. The loss of a good animal is always a sad thing, some understand and some dont. I love friendly cats that I pass along the way, they make my day. I often go to the fusion so I bet I gave her a stroke. It is a shame the law doesnt make drivers legally obliged to stop, quite hurtful actually since that a good cat can be many things. I am sad for your loss. Jay
  2. The other day someone expected me to move out of the way because their dog had decided to walk in a way that made the lead span the pavement ,,I was really surprised that they expected me to step into the road so they could pass, apparently I was putting dogs life at risk when I didn't stand asside, 'can you not train your own dog to walk at heal? I asked
  3. I'm in se22 east dulwich grove and I've never got one!
  4. Just had a fairly convincing phone call... They said they were calling from the technical dept of Virgin Media and that there was a virus prob with my computer! got me to: go to the team viewer website, join a remote control session and give them my computers details (which I didn't), I was googling as we talked, I asked if they had my account number, bill payment date etc, which they didn't. I then said I wasn't happy, that they should call back in 10 mins when I have had time to check, they haven't. Scary how close I got to being scammed- be warned.

  10. My son's friends were mugged a couple of days ago by an adult male. Poor kids felt really sorry for them, they too gave statements I believe it is important that it does get reported to the police they seem to like statistics which I guess will lead to them distributing officers. I hope your girls are back to their normal selves, I kinda think that kids see it as almost an ocupational hazard- its common, if you ask teenagers how many times they've been asked for the phones the answers can be quite shocking J
  11. That is a great piece of local history and made me smile. J

  13. Breaks my heart they way a small minority behave, my son in the past month has been asked for his mobile three times, good job he hasn't got one eh. He told me about it several hours/ days later I think he almost thinks of it as mundane! next time it happens I am reporting to the police.

  15. I saw a jersey Tiger Moth today. Does anyone know why this beatle (is it a small stag beetle?) is covered in these? They sem to be small mites or are they off spring? Many thanks J
  16. I seem to have stumbled upon a bumble bee nest while removing an old shed in my garden, its under the platform, easy to get to, I have temporarily halted procedings because I would like to if possible not harm the nest- move it somewhere else or would anyone be interested in collecting and removing. Anyone with any advice? J
  17. Could it be a wren? They make a right racket- I get those in my garden as well EDGrove J
  18. Thay had no "antlers" just little tiny mandibles. also they are lot smaller. I love stag beetles they are like the rinos of the insect world- like little tanks. I also regularly see a pair of coal tits and the robins have got to a point they are just plain cheeky- three times i felt their wings as I was working in the garden!
  19. I've seen a couple of female stag beetles in my garden! J
  20. It is all so sad, I wanted to go out over to the city but the thought of ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time detered me, I feel quite sad about that. J
  21. I bought two to keep as pets for my son, they were very weak to begin with but as they hydrated they rapidly turned into great big juicy slimey things, I prefered them dehydrated if I'm honest. I'd forgotten that snails are hermarphrodites, when reminded and after a bit of research found out that they are capable of producing thousands of offspring. They rapidly went down in my recommendation of a good pet after hearing that, well a pair anyway. I had them for about a month. They died after my son let them near some MDF, unfortunately. Cooking? just like any other snail, I would imagine, I couldn't eat them though a whelk is as far as I go. J
  22. Do you have any hobbies? Are they supported in the area?
  23. I am curious, when any of you were asked to leave did you pay? Jay
