Any of these cars BMW's perchance? Apparently those zapper things are particularly effective with BM's, allowing theives to break in without breaking anything

I was more concerned with p!ssing my neighbours off than noise from outside to be honest. It's a very quiet street so that wouldn't be an issue, and I know a little bit about treating acoustics for recording purposes. Just wondered if there was anything I could do to stop noise escaping. To be fair, I haven't moved in yet and don't know how much sound will travel along the terrace; fingers crossed not a great deal

I'm about to move house and I think the biggest issue may come from the single glazed window in the room I'll be using for music stuff. Any ideas about perhaps sealing around the edges of the window... would that make a difference? My landlords are not going to be cool with any alterations to the house

Good suggestions but possible not viable as he is renting and that sounds like quite heavy, permanent work. I am also interested in more of a temporary solution to soundproofing if anybody knows anything?

Thanks for all your replies. In the end I disposed of everything in the big fabric-recycling bin outside Mind down by Goose Green; was the easiest solution without a car. Many thanks PN33

Hello, Just had the horrible ordeal of sorting under the stairs and found several old duvets, sheets, pillows, suitcases etc. I know that charity shops will accept this stuff but a lot of it is quite scabby and I can't see them really wanting it. I was wondering if there was any way to recycle this sort of fabric-y stuff? Even if we don't recycle it, how would you even throw it away? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know of any in the area? Thanks PN33

Me too. And there was another fatality last night on Commercial Street; 5 cyclists have died in London from collision's in the last 9 days. I boldly cycled right through the winter last year without a shed of fear really, but I have had 2 incidents this year and think I'll be putting my bike away for the year when the weather turns and reduces visibility. I guess the only annoyance with this plan is that we don't have the Underground so the trains will also be hopeless once it snows/ices over!

Thanks for that. What sort of size deposit are you suggesting? We already have a 20% deposit, would that cover it? I don't really understand why they need to know? Say we bought somewhere that needed work on a standard mortgage, spent 12 months doing it up and then rented out... would we be expected to switch our mortgage at that point? Eclectic- we are looking for either a 2 bed, or a one bed with a basement. We also need a garden becasue of our cat -

My girlfriend and I have been trying to think out of the box a bit, as we don't just want to give up on the property ladder but realise we can't buy in this area with our *measly* budget of ?250000! We are considering buying somewhere in an area we're not overly keen on living in just yet (we're 26 and still have partying to do!), such as Penge, Bromley etc and renting it out. If we could get a place to pay for itself we would at least have our savings invested in bricks and mortar and have it growing whilst we continue to rent somewhere in zone 2. Can anyone advise what's specifically different about a buy-to-let mortgage, and whether they actually need to know? And also, am I right in thinking we would be taxed on the rental income? Thanks in advance
