  2. last 3 days been travelling to and back from Canary Wharf no problem. Got 185 to Lewisham then DLR. Fantastic and takes under an hour. Have avoided London Bridge as get alerts from the trains and knew it would be up the spout so to speak.
  3. Thanks all have been meaning to get back on her all week to let you know how it went! I took her to the Tate Modern and she loved it! Ran about, up and down (see piccy), kept stopping people to baby talk to them. She seemed to get Picasso (kept pointing at it and wanting to look at it) but not the modern art!! Went to the restaurant on the 7th floor which was a bit pricey but they did have children's menu. She had a lot of fun just throwing everything on the floor. It was a good place to go too as it was really raining on Saturday. so thankyou to all who suggested it that was fab.
  4. Hello - I am meeting my friend this Saturday (she won't come south as she lives in Highbury) so i have to take my daughter with me. She is 11 months old and been walking for ages so won't stay in a buggy for long. So I need somewhere i can take her that she can walk about or at least not scream at me for being in the buggy too long. anyone know of anywhere in or around London Bridge? Much appreciated thanks.
  5. just double checking is this the 12th at the mag?
  6. My daughter had her BCG at a week shy of 4 months as we went to Singapore and New Zealand so were advised she should have it. She had it in the arm - as the needle skims the skin she did not cry at all. She did cry with her normal immunisations as they pierce the muscle. It was fine and only started oozing about a month afterwards. Have kept it clean and it has healed nicely. There is a scar. If and when I have another child I would do the same again and she certainly did not suffer any side effects.
  7. if you let me know what dates you decide on I will try to make it. My little one is 10 months and partner works weekends so i would just need to arrange a babysitter.
  8. not read that book - is it any good? have you tried it? will check it on amazon. not breastfeeding she is on bottles.
  9. hello everyone. my DD is 10 months and still waking up 2 - 3 times in the night. I just returned to 3 days work going full time in a few weeks and she is still waking up. It seems she is hungry - and teething (no teeth still). She is eating a lot during the day but just won't settle at night. I've tried controlled crying but i hate it and she gets so so upset that she actually always does a poo if I try that. not sure what to do anymore and i can't leave her on her own as we are in 1bed flat and her cot is next to our bed. Ho hum. so glad this is back does anyone have any good ideas?
  10. phone number for Puddleducks is 02072528448
  11. i'm with Maki - what is the back fat all about?? I'm still more than a stone over my pre pregnancy weight. my daughter is just 9 months old and i've just started back at work. don't seem to be losing any but putting it on. when i get home its her dinner time, bath, bed but as she has been playing up she has been up till 9pm! So i'm starving and eat the quickest and easiest - normally toast with some cheese. i know its fattening and doesn't help me. i'm even going to work in my maternity clothes. its beginning to get me down now as i just don't have time to excercise. i'm exhausted. hopefully i'll get into the swing of things over the next few weeks. blaaaahhhhhhhhh. hmm. thanks for listening. feel bit better. now back to work!
  12. Mellors thank you so much for all your advice. I am finding you are tending to be right and I think I will follow my gut instinct. thanks again!
  13. thankyou so much that has really helped me!
  14. For those with nannies or childminders - any advice on what to look for when you take someone on? I'm going back to work in a few weeks and its my first baby. I've met one nanny so far and I really liked her. I'm seeing another nanny and 2 childminders later this week. I'm so worried about leaving her though and wondered what I shoud be looking for? any advice would be greatly received. thanks.
  15. I have nightmare neighbours living upstairs who were partying hard every weekend over this summer. It culminated a few weeks ago when they put on banging music at 3am again (our blinds and windows were shaking) and woke up ministandswithfist twice. I asked them to turn it down, they didn't asked again they didn't so I called the police and the council. The music finally stopped at 5am when the police turned up. Last weekend they were quiet. I don't mind noise but if they are going to party at all hours and wake my baby up then something had to be done. Other than that she is used to city life noises including foxes mating, cats fighting, sirens etc. I meant to say we life in a downstairs flat. They have also woken her up when they run in and bang the front door and their front door. bit annoying but living in flats will do that.
  16. hi I had a similar problem with my daughter. Go to http://www.babysleepanswers.co.uk/ they are fantastic. they give very good advice. I bought the book (?9.99) which gives you full access to their forums. Then you just post up the problem and they help you sort it out. I have about 6 mum friends that have now used this site and the book and we all now have babies sleeping well. Good luck!
  17. went to the new tea room today and it was so lovely. had hot chocolate with toasted tuna and cheese melt. delicious and will be returning.
  18. Mamora Man - its actually from New Zealand and we are off there on Wednesday! We can bring you some back for free if you like ;-)
  19. I've been in there recently during the day with my baby. The staff were lovely and the food normal pub grub. I liked it inside and feel its somewhere i can go on my own and not feel like I stand out. I will certainly be returning again. I can't comment on the evenings though.
  20. dULWICH PARK FAIRY - they will be showing 6 nations at the herne out the back.
  21. the old quiz wouldn't be the same in the new mag and its gone to the herne in any case.
  22. pint, then write!
  23. they do cash back i've had it from there about 4 weeks ago. just before i got setanta!
  24. I've eaten loads from Mr Liu's and apart from a spell early last year it has always been good. towards the end of last year and the start of this year we always got takeaway from there on a sunday night. Their duck is amazing and the chicken fried noodles another favourite. I've also sat in there but not for a few years but that was good also. They also had the heaters on the table then. Probably worth a try I would recommend it.
