  1. Thank you all for your recommendations. Am going to find out more for the one about Health Matters.

  3. Apologies is this is repeating a previous thread. i just wondered if anybody could recommend a great place to take up yoga during pregnancy (bearing in mind I am a complete novice but like the idea of trying it out!) - I am 17 weeks today. Thanks, Jade
  4. Hi All, I went along to the babyshow on Saturday and ordered the Mothercare Spin Pushchair! Which I love and have liked since before my trip to the babyshow, so as I was being offered 10% off the package - I went for it! I just wondered if anybody has one and if they have any good/bad feedback? Thanks, Jade
  5. Thank you so much banjo-your post was very helpful and encouraging! Thanks everybody! xx
  6. Thank you all so much for the feedback. It's great to understand other issues etc. On my last midwife appointment (1st feb) my midwife did urine test and all was fine but I think you are right that having a few of these sticks to hand would be great so that I could monitor myself more easily. It is my first baby - so it is true that I have been trying to get on with it! I have left a voicemail with my midwife so we can discuss further. I haven't been able to go to work today and haven't been sick for about 3 hours so a vast improvement since this morning! But it does come back at night! Hopefully it isn't so severe but if it is at least there are things I can do if it is picked up on - so thank you for all comments! Jade
  7. I am coming up to my 15th week of pregnancy and my morning sickness is showing no signs of stopping! It is really wearing me down, as it isn't just morning it is all day and night too! I was up from around 3.30am last night and was basically sick every hour from then! It isn't just nausea, I am physically sick most days.. Obviously I am trying all suggested (Ginger biscuits, dry crackers, milk before bed, sea sickness bands-all sorts!!) I guess I am just having a bit of bad luck plus lots of people say it is actually a sign of a healthy baby... Not sure how true this is?! Any other tips? Did anybody else suffer fairly badly? Did it stop? Thanks, Jade
  8. I too had an appointment today, and it all went very well and I also feel a lot better! I met 2 of my 3 midwives that will rotate in the classes with me. They were both lovely. They are very busy and I feel very lucky to be a part of this service. They are doing their very best to keep up such a good service even with short staffing issues. Thank you Oakwood!
  9. I can clarify - If you are new on to their books - you will now have to visit the surgery in order to see your midwife. They can no longer offer home visits. This is according to the letter I received. I have one next week - in the surgery. It isn't that I am 'moaning' as such, I appreciate I am very lucky to even be on Oakwood's books, Emily who I have met has been lovely. It is very reassuring to here so many positive posts and such excellent feedback. But times are changing at Oakwood, they are under a lot of pressure, and therefore the service I will experience will probably be different to most of the posts above. I am not saying worse just different. The biggest thing that appealed to me was the home visits as I suffer from 'white coat hypertension' (basically I have a huge fear of anybody in white coats) - so would be better suited in my own surroundings. However, I am lucky to be offered such an excellent midwifery service to me - and I know that. I would also echo and agree with what Belle has said in her previous post.
  10. They no longer offer home antenatal visits.
  11. I think that in an ideal world this would happen. As Emily did say we like to see everybody before their 12 week scan. It just isn't always possible. Hey MichelleT atleast things are looking more promising for us from now on! xx
  12. To be honest I have an underlying feeling that all will be fine - which is why I think I will stick with them. The ladies I have met have been lovely. And I can see that just because it is our first pregnancy and we are entering into a world of the unknown - we are slightly shocked that actually nobody needs to see us! It is more the reassurance that I have lacked - but still I have passed that first hurdle now I am confident it will get much better!
  13. Hi I have had a similar sort of experience too. I am 13 weeks and went for my 1st scan last week. At 11 weeks I rang FHR practice as I had come down with quite a bad cold, and wondered if they suggested I take anything, come in maybe (i wasnt sure). I asked the receptionist to book me in with a midwife - she said this wasnt possible a midwife would book me in i cant book myself in with a midwife.... Ok so how do I go about that then? she asked what my issue was... well I am 11 weeks pregnant and haven't heard from anybody since I walked in and confirmed my pregnancy about 9 weeks ago! The receptionist was completely shocked, which in turn shocked me - and of course worried me. She gave me the number for Oakwood and said I should contact them immediately. So I did, and was met with the dreaded answer machine. By now I was quite upset, it is my first pregnancy also, and I just felt let down. I left quite an emotional/worried message and they did get back to me. A lady left me a message to say there was no need to see me until 16-18 weeks, and was fairly reassuring. The following day I had another phone call from Oakwood which I picked up. This was now the Monday before my first scan on Friday 15th Jan. This phone call was from Emily the coordinator, who said yes in fact I should have come in and especially as the hospital will also need access to blood tests when I go in on friday! So along I went on Tuesday morning for my blood tests! I have to say I felt alot better after tuesday, I was given a named midwife with two others that will alternate throughout my classes based in my home and assured that one of these midwives will be with my throughout my labour... Last night I received a letter from Oakwood Midwives, and now due to unforeseen circumstances they can no longer do any of my visits from home, all will be based in the surgery and I will not necessarily have the midwives first stated to me. I am going to stick with them I think, but I understand completely how you feel.
  14. Thats a shame, as I work until 6 on Thursdays, otherwise I would have loved to have had a stall!
  15. I highly reccommend Blurb the finish is excellent and at a great price too.
  16. I went last night too. Was you there whilst the fire alarm went off (twice) ?! The service did seem very haphazard, but I hope it is just teething problems as they were very busy and the food was delicious! Will definitely be back for take away pizzas.
  17. Actually I did have really sore eyes and they were a little weepy too. I haven't been away or been bitten. But I am all better now too. Hopefully it wont last long for everyone else. (Edited for very bad spelling!)

I know 3 people who are desperate to go - but have had no joy trying to get through by phone or email - and had to work today so couldn't go and queue!! It's a long shot, but if anyone has a spare ticket(s) please do let me know - obviously they are willing to pay! Ta very much Jade (edited for bad spelling!)
