  1. Pavel and his team were really great. They were very efficient and kept us calm through the move! Nice guys, safe pairs of hands would definitely use again. Price was favorable too and a lot cheaper than some of the other more well known companies.
  2. We just had my daughters 7th birthday party at captured in the rye. It is a really good alternative party. The girls were totally engrossed in the activity from drawing and cutting out to getting involved with the screen printing and shrieking with delight at their finished t shirts. The spin painting and candy floss also added another dimension of creative fun. Would recommend highly as a memorable birthday activity with a keep sake to go home with!
  3. Would recommend Chania in Crete - we stayed in a lovely relaxed placed called Lekfa appartments. pool, restaurant on site, laid back, near a lovely beach (es). we had a 4 year old and a baby and will probably go with them again next year.
  4. Hello all - looking for recommendations from anyone on good family destinations for some pre-winter guaranteed sunshine. We have a baby and a 4 year old so looking for somewhere hassle free e.g. somewhere close to an airport for a DIY holiday or a decent all inclusive. It would be end of October. There seems to be so much choice/ variation and personal recommendations are so valuable! thanks in advance
  5. Hi can any mums recommend any nice things to do with a 7 month old baby in Peckham area? (other than Peckham library rhyme time)..... ideas welcome!
  6. wow that got the feathers ruffled! loving the peckham cuss EDLove clearly you are slightly behind the times on the hottest place to live/ buy in south east london - way better stuff over this way and i have lived in both areas. i will totally take the andersons point - it is expensive but at least their pain au chocolats are big!! over and out coffee ragers!
  7. My sister and I popped into Le Chandelier for a coffee and a cake the other morning. I am outraged by the prices in there. We ordered large capuccinos to be told they only do one size (small) - they were ?3 and we had 3 sips in each cup as it was mostly foam - a pound a sip. we ordered a pain au chocolat each and they were also small and underwhelming and 3.50 - yes three pounds fifty for a pain au chocolat!! very glad i have moved to peckham where places like Anderson and Co, Cafe Viva, Le Petit Chou and Cinammon Tree Bakery offer far better value for money. Not to mention Mouse Tails coffee van outside the Peckham Library which does excellent EXCELLENT coffee. feel free to share coffee prices based rants and recommendations for the sake of my amusement.
  8. if interested please PM me!!
  9. Hi there - I am looking for activities during the week for a one year old (my baby) and a 2.5 year old (my nanny's child). My nanny is looking for things to do in the area and beyond the Peckham Library rhyme time/ soft play she really can't find anything. Any one know of any nice classes around Peckham Rye/ Nunhead - would really appreciate any tips. Am thinking music based/ play classes.
  10. Hi - can anyone recommend and music classes or play sessions in the Peckham Rye area? I have just moved from east dulwich where there is obviously lots to do! thanks in advance.
  11. Hi we have just moved to the area and I am looking for some (hopefully!!) reassurance that schools in Peckham are gettting better. Our little girl is only 1 but we haven't massively done our research and I wondered if there were other families living in Peckham who had stories to tell about good/ bad schools in the area. We are Peckham Rye end.
  12. no but i live around the corner so i will pop by tomorrow to see if it's on and report back!
  13. yes there is probably a similar thread somewhere knowing the east dulwich foodies - but I have to throw a new one into the mix having tasted them all. Green and Blue too dry, East Dulwich deli nice but too soft and squidgy, Lucas average. I actually just had the best brownie of my WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE at the new Homemade cafe on Barry Road. The guy is a genius. Please check them out brownie lovers.
  14. i am loving the peckham big up - I am moving FROM east dulwich TO peckham in fact. lordship lane is so samey. i am looking forward to a culinary adventure - it's got the best persian shop in london, a farmers market, amazing fruit and veg stalls - sooooo cheap too. any other peckham tips for a first(ish) timer welcome peckham massive.........
  15. thanks everyone - so much food for thought - I am on Bromar Road to answer somebody's question! I feel much better equipped to deal with this now. God - thank god for the east dulwich forum - so much sense spoken here. I wish I had thought about them paying for the survey and me reiumbursing them on exchange, what a good idea. You live and learn.
