Massive thank you to Joseph who helped me move flat at the weekend. Turns out I have A LOT of stuff but everything went very smoothly, with lots of space left to spare in the very spacious van!

I very much agree! Please leave Dawson's Hill alone, it's a peaceful haven, not a park. I use the path from Mount Adon Park/Donkey Alley on a daily basis (I live on Dawson Heights estate - which has a children's play area if you're looking for one) and I've never met a mugger on route (not that I know what one looks like).

I haven't been there for a while, but have had food from there quite often and never been disappointed. The aromatic lamb is a good choice.

I don't drive but I do find it quite frustrating waiting at the bus stop and watching the lights change three times before the bus eventually makes it through them

I particularly enjoy it when there's a vehicle coming in the opposite direction down a side street that's not willing to give way. It makes the journey so much more enjoyable... and long! It's more of a necessity than an enjoyment for me as it's the only route that goes anywhere near my friends house in Rosendale Road, and it's not even that near really.

I've given up eating at the Plough, I did give it a fair amount of tries as it's my local, but (apart from a few occasions) the food has taken a very long time to arrive and hasn't been that great. The staff have been pretty friendly though.

Apologies if it's already been covered, I had a quick look through the thread but still may have missed it... but what's on offer at the bar? Do they serve any speciality beers, bottled or otherwise? Anyone know?

I have the Wii, I have the game, I have an Internet connection but have no idea how to join them all together. Apart from the game and the Wii that is... I have only been a Wii owner for a week, that's my excuse for being dense.

It's possible it was the lingering smell of burnt mattress. I was woken up by fire engines and shouting at 7.20am Saturday morning as there was a bit of a blaze near the stairwell of my block (Bredinghurst, Dawson Heights). What remains of it is a pile of springs. Lovely. :-S

Thanks for your comments, I shall hopefully be admiring the views from my balcony from next month as I'll be handing over the holding deposit tomorrow. Very excited! Had a little walk round the nature reserve yesterday, still can't believe that will soon be my back garden! I've always thought the flats look like steps on the outside, the inside continues that theme with the flat being split over 4 levels, has to be seen to be explained, but it's quite unusual. For those who are interested, I found out the building was designed by a young, female architect, Kate Mackintosh who was 26 or 27 at the time (1968). She is Scottish and apparently from her perspective they represented the Scottish style of castle. She's now Vice Chair of Scientists of Global Responsibility - so the rumours I heard about it being designed like a hippy commune were probaly true... http://www.sgr.org.uk/SGRbiogs.html But the rumours of her throwing herself off the top of it when it didn't turn out as planned are evidently false!

I'd love to see a decent tapas place on Lordship Lane, is there a tapas bar other than Barcelona nearby?

I fell in love with those blocks the first time I went over Dog Kennel Hill on the top deck of the 176. They are so imposing. I also remember seeing them from the Oxo Tower before moving south of the river. It's a real shame it spoils some people's views because, if I do move in, the view from my balcony and bedroom window will be AMAZING! It beats the view of the roofing yard I have now.

I have just been to view a beautiful flat in the Bredinghurst Estate in Dawson Heights and am keen to move in. The views are to die for and I'm a big fan of the mad architecture itself (acquired taste I think) but I wanted to know if anyone has experience of Dawson Heights life? Are any forum members residents/ex-residents/living nearby? I have been living down the Goose Green end of East Dulwich for about 4 years now, but don't venture up the other way too often. Would appreciate any stories, opinions, criticisms etc. Thanks lots.

I'd give the Plough 10/10 for it's booze selection (big fan of speciality beers/ciders), the garden's great, very smoker friendly. However, I've always been let down by the food, so far I have had two overcooked lamb roasts (very chewy!), a gamon sandwich which was supposed to be beef and a very small burger... potato wedges were fine though...
