PCN for driving in Dulwich village, help please!
sandyman replied to renarde's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've only had one PCN since the new measures were introduced but it's probably not a coincidence that it was in Lewisham in an area I rarely go through. The trouble is a lack of consistency. i went to visit a friend in Walthamstow and there were timed restrictions near his house but they were different to the times in Dulwich so I did have to do a serious doubletake to get my head round them. sandyman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry to hear this - your post highlights exactly > why i think my idea below should be adopted. > > I think for the first few weeks warnings were sent > out to "offenders" but that's no good for someone > who uses this route once a year. > > So I think everyone should get a warning the first > time they "offend" - however long the restrictions > have been in place. > > I live nearby and walking down Townley Road > earlier this week came across an elderly lady > holding a PCN in her hand - even though the photo > evidence was all there she could not work out what > she had done wrong until I walked her further down > the road to show her the signs. i think you'd have > to be pretty heartless to say if she can't take in > road signs like that you shouldn't be driving. PCN for driving in Dulwich village, help please!
sandyman replied to renarde's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear this - your post highlights exactly why i think my idea below should be adopted. I think for the first few weeks warnings were sent out to "offenders" but that's no good for someone who uses this route once a year. So I think everyone should get a warning the first time they "offend" - however long the restrictions have been in place. I live nearby and walking down Townley Road earlier this week came across an elderly lady holding a PCN in her hand - even though the photo evidence was all there she could not work out what she had done wrong until I walked her further down the road to show her the signs. i think you'd have to be pretty heartless to say if she can't take in road signs like that you shouldn't be driving. I'm much younger and I've had to pause to study them to work them out (or maybe i shouldn't be driving too). -
Denmark Hill vaccination center - parking
sandyman replied to katezerooo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just to add - if you don't mind a little walk last time I went to Kings the streets just after Ruskin Park opposite fox on the hill are only restricted for a couple of hours to stop commuters parking there. Sorry, don't know exactly what the timings are, but it might work, depending on your appointment time. -
PCN received for being in a "bus gate" on Townley Road
sandyman replied to Shaila Shah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm curious to know when the offence kicks in - is it when you actually pass through the traffic lights during the prohibited times or do the cameras log you once you are queuing at the lights? What happens if you are sitting at the lights at 2.59 and the queue is so long it tips over into the banned time - would you be penalised for doing a three point turn at the lights? -
Thanks for posting this. Did they give the reason that they cancelled the fine? Your reference to conflicting info about PCN saying representation must be by post, but website lets you do it online was the case with my Lewisham PCN too but I didn't know this might possibly enable me to get the fine cancelled. I've paid now but maybe i can quote this bit and ask for a refund? boomshake22 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i appealled to the fine entering dulwich village > and was successful , i have attached my letter > please edit as required > you can simply submit this online on the southwark > parking website, that what i did, add your own > pics > > good luck with this,,, it is an absolute disgrace > of a cashcow charge

Lack of clarity/transparency in the process is part of the problem. I received a penalty in Lewisham where there was a similar scheme to Dulwich Village. I appealed immediately but didn't hear anything back so after two weeks I paid the fine to avoid it doubling on the basis that it would be refunded if my appeal was upheld. Instead I received a letter saying that as I had paid the fine the case was closed. The scheme in Lewisham, by the way, has now been partly scrapped. rjsmall Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it varies. help! fine for parking in Tessa Jowell Centre!
sandyman replied to Huggers's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Why can't they just give you an hour or 90 minutes free parking without the hassle of registering at a time when your mind might be on other things? That would cover most medical visits - presumably what they want to do is stop commuters parking there all day and the cameras already in situ could police that. -

thanks - yes i'm still pursuing it. I posted the initial letter of appeal, but didn't hear back and after two weeks put PCN number into the Lewisham website and it said if ?65 fine not paid by the next day it would increase to ?130 so I paid it because it said on the site that if appeal was accepted fine would be refunded. Instead I received a letter the following week saying that because i had paid the fine the case was closed... I've written back, still waiting for further response. I can't see any links in their posts - can you explain where the SEO links are? ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > SmitN Wrote: > ----------------- > > Has somebody tried the new vaccine already? > ? Yes, i think one of the problems is consistency of signeage (if that's a word) We recently received a PCN in Lewisham. The red sign said 'road closed' but there were no planters or blockages - and lots of cars driving through ? so we assumed it meant road closed further ahead as is the case with the signs on Townley Road, close to where we live. Needless to say our appeal was turned down. Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
sandyman replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
yes, I know, but for people like Spider69 above who want to use the park but can't afford the charges it would potentially offer them early morning options and - particularly in the summer ? plenty of free access in the evenings. Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
sandyman replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Can you say if an option of introducing parking fees for, say, working hours of 8pm - 6pm as is normal for CPZ/restricted streets, was ever discussed? This would give those who want to use the park potential cheaper options outside main daytime hours. As far as i can recall not even Hyde Park charges drivers 24 hours a day to park. rch Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This is another complicated discussion, but the > short version is that I managed to get the Dulwich > Park car parking charges put on hold when I was a > councillor (lobbying the cabinet member in tandem > with the Dulwich Park Friends) although I was told > that the issue would definitely resurface (as it > has). > > I then went to one of the open public consultation > meetings a year or two ago, whereupon I suggested > that residents who found it too difficult to walk > or take public transport to the park would rather > pay a fixed annual fee for a parking permit and > the councillor said that they might consider this > option in the future. > > By coincidence, I spoke to the park managers just > before the new charges came in and they told me > that they have a permit system in place for people > with health problems to be granted a free parking > permit if a doctor?s letter could confirm the > relevant health issues. > > The criteria states that the person has to be over > 64 years old and have mobility issues, but the > managers told me that they could override the age > criteria and even the mobility issues if the case > was convincing enough. > > It?s frustrating that this information isn?t being > made more openly available, and I would encourage > anyone with health problems to pursue the > ?mobility? permit option, so here?s more > information on the Dulwich Park Friends website, > including a phone number to call (but be aware > that this may take some time due to Covid):- > > https://dulwichparkfriends.org.uk/the-park/locatio > n-travel/ > > I would also suggest that residents could lobby > the new cabinet members to consider for an annual > parking permit to be made available to Southwark > residents, rather than having to pay ?2 for every > visit. -
Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
sandyman replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I thinks what's particularly harsh about Dulwich Park's parking regs is that they apply 24 hours a day. They are worse than parking restrictions in Oxford Circus. What would be fairer would be if they applied from 8.30am to 6.30pm like most restrictions. Then people who couldn't afford to pay could visit the park outside those times - admittedly this wouldn't be much help in the winter but it could be a great help in the summer when people want to get some fresh air. spider69 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Dulwich Park Car Park is the same. i don't have (too much of) a problem with these closures but they do need to be signposted more clearly. I was almost all the way down Calton Ave before there was a T junction sign - and by then I was so close I could see that the road was blocked off anyway. This was last night, hopefully more signs will go up or there will be lots of people trying to do three point turns outside the bookshop. tiddles Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I suspect It is the new road closures - Carlton > avenue and court land are now dead ends so massive > rerouting of cars away from the normal direct > routes. Southwark Recycling Centre - is it open?
sandyman replied to dimjim79's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
i could see the main info required was in the confirmation email but maybe i was being too much of a stickler for the rules so I clicked on where it said "print permit PDF" and the screenshot of the page that came up is attached. i thought i could probably show them the email on phone and it would be fine, but didn't want to load up the car and arrive and encounter someone who wouldn't let me drop of rubbish without proper printout - the confirmation emails don't actually have names on it. Southwark Recycling Centre - is it open?

I had a slot booked today at 1pm but when i went to print out the permit this morning it said "page not known". Was going to try my luck without permit but decided that all things considered not worth the risks. Kid Kruger's post suggests I'd have been ok as i had the other proof of id/address. -
We went to pick up something ordered online at argos and they let us jump the queue - but they are very strict you are escorted straight out and not allowed to bunk into sainsburys - very frustrating as there were lots of discounted post-Easter eggs on display!
