  1. I stopped getting prescriptions there as they are not open on saturday.
  2. That's interesting that the system can do that and at least give you some information - when my camper van was stolen around seven years ago nobody ever mentioned it being spotted on ANPR. It actually received a parking ticket in Beckenham but even though the theft had been reported the ticketing process didn't flag up that it was a stolen vehicle otherwise it could have been recovered. Good luck, I'll keep an eye out.
  3. The car with five tickets doesn't have any more yet so maybe the wardens haven't been down this week or maybe they are showing a rare glimmer of sympathy for someone who presumably isn't aware of the new restrictions. Can someone explain in simple terms what the point of making Calton permit parking was? It's not really a street where commuters parked to go to the station, it's not a street where parents dropped off their children for school - and if they did I expect they'd still do that quickly and hope not to get caught. I've walked down there today and there are hardly any cars parked on the street - most of the residents have drives so the council surely won't make much from the sale of permits. The only people it seems to be hitting are people that work on those houses or nearby - in the village or the schools. Who will mostly just park on the next streets along which don't require permits.
  4. I hope these are only warnings as this car now has five.
  5. Shouldn't all works be done before a CPZ can go live?
  6. The record is now four... Also the sign at the Woodwarde Road junction with Calton is possibly even better hidden than the one at the Townley end. And there are no bays indicated by lines (except the disabled bays), which would usually be a hint to go and check the signs. (where my mother lived in Essex for example, you couldn't park on her road between 1pm & 2pm and there were yellow lines all the way down the street, so you'd always check the signs)
  7. Yes, three is the record so far. What are the rules if your car is parked somewhere unrestricted and then a CPZ is brought in while you are away? Asking for my friend Giles who parked his Cortina in an Athens side street in 1986 and hasn't had time to collect it yet.
  8. Actually if I was to put money on it I'd bet it's a fourth option: One hour for non permit holders within those hours (and unrestricted outside those hours). but it is utterly confusing. By the way, I think the signs might have been put high because when they were lower they were vandalised and this post is right by a bench for easy vandalism access.
  9. Can someone clarify this sign please? Does it mean even with a permit you can only park for an hour or if you dont have a permit you can still park for up to an hour? I assume its the latter but then why does it say "permit holders parking only past this point"?
  10. problem resolved!
  11. Just because you are only fined if you 'break the rules' doesnt mean they arent also 'revenue-generating traps' - see also thread about bus gate fines in school holidays. Of course you could follow the rules and avoid the fines but why are they fining drivers in the school hols when the hours the bus gates apply clearly imply that they are there to restrict term time traffic.
  12. I received a fine going through the Townley Road gate at 4.20 on Boxing Day a couple of years ago. Like most people I simply lost track of what day it was over Christmas but that's apparently not an acceptable defence for Southwark Council! I did have a lengthy email chat with a councillor about lifting restrictions during school holidays but he said this couldn't be done as public/state schools had different term times. I replied by saying that no schools at all were open on bank holidays so why not at least lift restrictions on those days, but didn't receive a reply.
  13. Wouldn't it be lovely if the actual bike could be identified via GPS/time/triangulation and that it turned out that the perp had hired it using their own credit card and that the police would act decisively if given that info. Sadly I think there's too many ifs in that sentence. But well done for being a good samaritan.
  14. These are suggested as cost-cutting cutbacks but if they were implemented we'd actually have a better service in SE22 than we have now! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqjl1ng4zj8o
  15. I think it has improved but from a very low bar and it still has a long way to go. If you use the Askmygp App you don't have to set the alarm for 8am any more to reach them, you can leave a message most times of the day. However, when i left a message last week a day later I received a reply saying "this request has now been completed" but i hadn't heard anything else. Then two days later i did get a call and a face-to-face appointment with a locum was arranged for that afternoon even though my issue wasn't urgent. So, as I said, my experience is that it is getting better, but it is far from perfect.
  16. First time i came to East Dulwich was to have sunday lunch at La Careme with my parents around 1980. It was where Sema Thai was I think. I was in hall of residence round back of fox on the hill and i think they wanted to go there because east dulwich seemed 'posher' than Camberwell even back then before it was gentrified.
  17. or do i need to go to old kent road tip?
  18. Also I thought results would be much slower than usual but I was told I'd get results in only five days. The system seems to be working if you can get an urgent referral, so maybe try to speak with GP. Although i'm not sure how you'd make an appointment if you could get a referral because, as you say, the Swiftqueue platform is down. I was lucky that I'd made the appointment before the cyber attack, I actually tried the reschedule today's appointment and even though it turned out to be marked as 'urgent' swiftqueue wouldn't let me into the system to change it.. maybe if you have urgent referral you'd be able to walk in. Needless to say the blood test department is pretty quiet. I turned up at 9am for a 9.29am appointment and was done and out of there by 9.05.
  19. update - I went this morning expecting to be turned away and amazingly I had my blood test so the unexpected reminder yesterday was correct. They had a bit of a struggle printing out the referral but after I got it I went downstairs and was seen straight away. I noticed my form did say "Urgent" although nobody had told me this - in fact when I went in two weeks ago to pick up the referral the first time they simply said no tests at all until further notice and didn't give me the referral.
  20. thanks everyone for your help, this is really frustrating, I've had no cancellation message just a reminder email today that I've got an appointment tomorrow morning, The worst thing is I have been told to fast so it'll be annoying if i can't have test after all - I'm already famished!
  21. See updated comment further down the thread. Hi, I was the person who posted the topic of no blood tests being done - see blood tests. However, before I was told they were not doing tests due to being hacked I'd made an appointment for a test tomorrow morning. I'd assumed it wasn't happening even though I was never told it was cancelled, but now I've just received a text reminding me that i have an appointment tomorrow. This is a real pain as i have something on tomorrow but also need the test. Can anyone tell me if tests are happening again or if i turn up I'll be wasting my time. thanks
  22. I was due to have a routine annual blood test and popped in this morning to pick up a referral. Unfortunately due to the recent cyber attack I was told there will be no blood tests at all at Tessa Jowell for the next month. They weren't even able to access my referral so that i could take it somewhere else. They said it might reopen sooner and I should check in every week but they thought at least a month. This has apparently not just affected Tessa Jowell but everywhere using the same system as Kings NHS. Bit more info here, though it was not exactly my experience. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd115yw8pd3o BBC story says they can still deal with serious cases but that wasn't the impression I got. Has anyone else had this problem and navigated an alternative?
  23. quick follow up - medication all sorted and was charged £22. Reasonable but seemed to bear little relation to the £58 my partner was quoted and the £10 i was quoted. i asked for an explanation and the receptionist didn't know. They said they'd email a full invoice/receipt but we haven't received anything yet. Not complaining about the price but do feel there's a lack of transparency. It's almost as if they make it up as they go along.
  24. Hi, tbh i'm a bit confused myself and i wrote that post. Things seems to have changed since our last batch of pills. i think when you have a dog you want the best for them and have to trust the experts. We originally bought pills over the counter that were much cheaper but we took our dog to a sitter and it turned out he had fleas so we were advised to get a stronger brand from the vet. And yes, they were cheaper online but we wondered whether the websites were legit, we didn't want to buy anything 'dodgy' or should that be 'doggy'? And now the rules have changed and the strong pills that could be bought without a prescription now require a prescription anyway.... ...and this is where the lack of transparency re vets charges previously discussed also comes in...i'll try to be brief... last week my partner called to order the pills and was told there is an extra £58 charge for a check up to get them. I cancelled the appointment and said I'd buy them online, only to discover, as i explained earlier, that you now need that prescription to buy them online. So this morning I called the vet again to make an appointment to have the consultation to get the prescription pills and was told the price of the consultation is £10, not £58. The appointment is tomorrow so I'll report back then - but a question for consumer experts - if you are quoted a price of £10 when booking and then they say the charge is £58 after the consultation do they legally have to honour the £10 quote? hope that's clearer...to be continued....
