Macmillan Fundraising / Breast Cancer Awareness
arsmith posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
HI If anyone is interested in raising more money for Macmillan this month whether you're holding a Big Coffee morning or other fundraising please do get in contact. I am a Stylist for Stella & Dot (www.stelladot.co.uk/abbiesmith) and would love to help you raise money by donating some of my profits if you are holding a fundraising event. Happy to come along to your events with a jewellery adn accessories display - adding a bit of sparkle to your coffee morning or even to help you set something up - be it coffee morning or drinks and nibbles of an evening. In addition to this I am also creating Chemo Packs again this September / October (see pic attached) whereby customers buy a Stella & Dot pouch (just ?19) which I then fill with a selection of things to help patients going through chemo (lip balms, sweets, mints, thick socks and a magazine). These will then be donated to the Macmillan Ward at Kings this year. And finally we also have a charity bracelet coming out in October whereby all net profits go to Breast Cancer Awareness. Pic attached. It can be ordered online from 1st October at www.stelladot.co.uk/abbiesmith or I am taking pre-orders now so can add to a group order and deliver locally for free. Please do get in contact to chat some more about any of the above :) -

Another second time mum. Expecting number 2 at end of Sept when my son will be nearly 2.5 Abbie x -
Ok so I've finally pinned my husband down to some dates for our holiday - last week May and first of June. We'd like somewhere sunny - I accept we might need trousers / cardigan at night but want to be able to be sunbathing and swimming in the day. Although not our normal type of holiday we're thinking a hotel resort would work well for us. We've got a 2 yr old so would like to be able to have a morning and an evening to ourselves so kids club and babysitting a must. Somewhere really child friendly - kids pool, playground, ability to take children into restaurant and not get glared at (all the things we would have hated a few years back) I've seen both the Pine Cliffs and Martinhal in Portugal and a Melia hotel in Tenerife but wonder if anyone has any other similar suggestions. Also silly question but will the pools be heated this time of year? We went to Portugal last August and had a villa and the pool wasn't heated and was freezing and my son refused to get in. He loves swimming and I don't want him to miss out because the waters so cold!! Help please :)

Expressing milk - sudden drop in supply
arsmith replied to WorkingMummy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thinking about it canela may well be right - I had a few hen dos / wedding when my son was a few months old and after drinking I was fit to bursting the following morning and I did think back then that alcohol may have an affect -
I was with Brierley and they were fab. Rae was my midwife and was fantastic. I also had care from katherine and Ruth - all were lovely. You do have to be planning a home birth to get on their books as such. I didn't end up with a homebirth but they came to kings with me and delivered my son and just made me feel so comfortable

Expressing milk - sudden drop in supply
arsmith replied to WorkingMummy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My doctor here prescribe me doneperidome free I was in hospital for a month and had I stop BF I was on it for 2 weeks and my supply came right back. As above it's a side effect rather than the main reason for prescribing but my doctor was completely aware I it - I initially spoke o one of the BF consultants from the leaflet you get at kings when baby is born I'd also say rest and plenty of liquids too - you may not feel dehydrated but you may not be drinking enough for your supply -

Hi all Am new to the group am pregnant with first and due 10th Mary. Just started mat leave so now up for cafe life! Any mums due in the next few weeks fancy meeting up? -
Thanks SandyRose a going into it open minded - will have a bag packed in case I have to go in. What makes me feel comfortale with Brierley is thE idea that if I go in its because I really have to and that the Brierley midwives will come with me. Who knows what will happen on the day just trying to be prepared:) Good tip about the notes too thank you
-
HI Polly - are you going to the meet the Brierley midwives session on saturday? if so see you there !!
-
Hi all so many great responses thank you so much. Amy - may well take you up on those shower curtains. I'll pm you. Still choosing between pools. Birth pool in a box - the one with the seat seems quite good but part of me is hankering for a rigid pool as it looks more luxurious. Hmmmm Am also with Brierley so will make ure the trunks are at the ready :)

Hi Am planning a home birth and would like to have a water birth. Thought I'd post on here to see what tips people have? Rigid v inflatable pool? People seem to say inflatable is more comfortable but t he rigid ones seem to have the filters and heaters .... Likely we'd have the pool in our kitchen on a wood floor was thinking an old piece of carpet underneath would help to soften the floor - do I need to get loads of towels to have around it? Any other tips all welcome Thanks girls

now seen peckham rye way too - oglander road. intriguing -
We're expecting ours in May and i went to John Lewis today and found them really helpful talking me through all the different systems, all quite non biased too. They do a 2 hr baby session where they talk through every aspect of what you will need, compile a list - they you cna go away and research online wht you want tnad where you want to buy it form. know a few people who have done this and thoroughly recommend it Good luck in your search, i'm currenlty digesting everything i learnt today and creating the biggest shopping list :)
