  1. I'd like to know if anyone that lives in Oxenford street, copleston road and oglander road , bellenden road and everthorpe, whether you had or have issues re the external works programme called safe warm and dry, whether you refused to pay, etc etc. My property was partly painted at front and absolutely nothing to the rear of property, too long a story and don't wish to bore you with details. I did not pay and am now being taken to court. Has anyone else refused to pay and been called to court. I have no idea how it'll pan out, although I have photos, emails ,Harriet Hartman letter, to prove I was trying to get work done and now saltash the contractors, Shan the liaison officer and a manager Chris ayton from the council have actually lied on their witness statements saying I never gave them access. That I was difficult from the start, it really beggars belief. I'm really not happy I'm being accused of lying, They never ever asked for access, they all climbed over the supposedly repaired roofs, without a walkway or duct board. Any experiences?? Surely I'm not the only one who refused to pay! Bit anxious re the court though if the judge is fair I think he will see I contacted several people involved with the work, spend hours in Harriet harmans surgery, trying to get them to do the work, why would I do this if I then refuse access. I will never ever buy a leasehold ever again. The council take the absolute p***
  2. They don't allow evidence to be emailed , the defence could be emailed through gov.uk. my fault, elderly neighbour very ill this week and has taken all my time so my organising had to be put to the wayside.papers need to be there tomorrow and was thinking of driving tonight to put through letterbox, trying not to have to go tomorrow with busy traffic. Just have no idea if they seal letterbox for safety reasons! Nightmare, that's what I get for leaving so late.
  3. I have to get my evidence to shorditch court by Tuesday. Case is 13/02 so think papers have to be at court in the morning. I am thinking of going there tonight to see if I can post through their door, anyone know if there is a letter box that is open at night as just wondering if it gets locked or something in the evenings. Don't fancy going all the way to find I can't put them through. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks all for suggestions. It's becoming quite an unfair society. Neighbour said she'd call council again today, will ask her later how she got on.yes maybe got thru to a more helpful person!
  5. Pugwash, that is bloody outrageous. The poor lady. In comparison my neighbour getting an old sofa removed, isn't that serious. What on earth is wrong with Southwark council, have they completely forgotten about the elderly and vulnerable people. I feel anything these days to get resolved concerning Southwark council is just like banging your head against a wall.
  6. Just spoke to a neighbour who called Southwark to book and pay the ?16 to have old sofa collected, no good for freecycle as was used as sofa for her dogs! Anyhow she was told the only way to book now is online and pay when booking. She doesn't have a computer , she was told to go to the library to use one, she said she wouldn't know how to use a computer and would have to rely on someone helping her. Although she said all this to person on phone and that she wouldn't want to use public computer and wouldn't want to put her debit card details into it, she was just told he couldn't help her and hasn't she got someone to help her get rid of the sofa. I'm not being funny, I can't believe this is the case, does anyone know if the info she was given was correct? Plenty of people do not feel safe using their card on line , let alone a public computer and having to rely on someone doing it for them. What about our elders that have no interest in or knowledge of computers who prefer to use the phone. Also it seems you have to register for my Southwark where you have to give your email etc. I've noticed items of furniture are being dumped more frequently opposite where I live and at one point up in sainsburys car park, I thought it was because people didn't want to pay the ?16, now I'm wondering is it because people have to book and pay online. Anyone know about this?? Thx
  7. I can't see this tree being a problem and I live right near it. I also have taken my neighbour past it in a wheelchair and there wasn't a problem. There was a beautiful tree, hundreds of years old right outside my house and my neighbours argued to have it chopped down, I was really disappointed. Way things are heading it'll be a concrete jungle , no trees no birds. I'm sure it's irritating to have to walk out into the road to get past it,if using a double buggy, maybe walk on the other side. I haven't started hugging trees yet, however I do love them.
  8. Dearest grok, you really do have an inferiority complex, I'm so sorry. Please recover very soon. I feel very sad that you have such anger and bitterness. Xx Grok Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Gosh, Im so new, I ve never ever clicked here > before.   9. New to the lounge part of forum and would just like to say that you rendel Harris and you, Alan medic,are two of the grown up sensible commenters , who seem to only post intestering things. I'm just learning how some people like to hide behind a screen and insult. Pity them I say, and carry on regardless!! (-;
  10. yes turtle, guess it helps to be thick skinned, I'm new to the lounge part of forum and it's good I've found out quickly how some people read an experience as a complaint, seem to have split personalities , and bother to comment when all they are doing are behaving like the bully school kids who troll other kids on line. They are, presumably adults and are meant to be the example setters, well I'm glad I'm a nice person who wouldn't bother commenting if my only reason was to be nasty! Oh well such is life. Mariashroom- yes cash and carry, where though? Could you let me know , pm me please. Thx
  11. Wow angelina, first I get kind advice, and a smiley face, now I get called names! Isn't this section of the forum the lounge where we chill out? (-;
  12. Hello, blimey what a mixed response!! Ocd how? Yes I do agree, 2 litres a day is extreme, though alpro soya is not genetically modified, has protein,calcium, B12,B2,vitamin D & all good for osteoporosis which I have. It's the oestrogen female hormone I need though very bad for men. The real bad thing is the sugar and yes I could buy the plain or nut flavours, though I don't like those. My GPs know me very well & something happened personally, 9 years ago, I stopped eating, have lived on soya milk & tablets since. I guess I'm addicted to the sugar now, hence the wanting to have a supply, it does fit in fridge as that's all that's in there. Thanks to all who suggested pre ordering, I shall do that. Thanks Alan medic, that may be the case. Never thought of that,so you may well be correct. I posted to find out opinions & any similar experiences,Though I guess with people like grok, who's anger management isn't working, I'll just have to expect being called names, if it helps grok get it all out in the open,though can't see where lazy comes into it! Was I meant to walk to Tesco? I will call Tesco head office just out of curiosity. Thing is,maybe every time I asked before, the staff did keep some behind, just didn't need to tell me, why this time she told me, was pointless, why didn't she just bring an amount out, leave an amount out back , as I would not have known, it was more the fact that she wanted to make a point, like a failed copper. Ed_pete, I don't understand your comment, so if it was for me to read, I can't .Very interesting reading enjoy, thank you. Sue, I'm glad you laughed as I have to laugh at myself & I'm glad you don't have to buy all the guavas anymore as that would be 'hellishly frustrating for other customers' . Thank you Jeremy for writing what you did, I'm all for live & let live as long as we aren't hurting anyone, if it makes us feel happy or at least we think it does.
  13. Seriously now, I kid you not. I have been buying the fresh alpro chocolate soya milk from Tesco in the old Kent road, for several years, as I use two litres a day & I Don't want to visit Tesco More than I have too, I buy all off the shelf & always ask a member of staff to please check out back for me & could I please have however many they have. This has been fine for all this time, except this evening, sorry have to throw this in , last night called breakdown to put my spare car wheel on my car, received text today from fitter saying have you had wheel checked, sorry was mashed when I put it on! so driving to Tesco paranoid my wheel would fall off, still in shock, get there, phew, got milk of shelf asked member of staff to pls check out back, I'll have all you have, she said well you can't have all we have, so I said sorry what do you mean? Well, we have to leave some for other customers ,it isn't fair if You buy it all, now it's not on offer, not reduced, so after checking in my head it wasn't 1st April, I said well this is ridiculous, she was quite adamant I wasn't getting all they had. I told her I always buy all that's in stock, she then asked what time do you usually buy it?!,,as it depends on the time,now I'm really getting irritated by this person, I told her she was talking nonsense, She said she would go into store room to check,though again, I can't buy them all, I told her not to bother as what she was telling me was complete poppycock and said I will ask manager,Found manager, it was obvious she had found him first as seemed to be expecting me, he told me their terms & conditions state , regardless of product, no one is allowed to buy all one product, leaving none for others!!! . I asked him if he could go & check & please bring out all he could find, ignoring That I'd been told I can't have them all. Anyhow he brought me out 1 box of 6, he then said 'you may get stopped by the cashier refusing to sell you the amount you have, which then was 19, just tell cashier I've allowed it'!!! Anyhow, I wasn't happy I'd drove all that way for a mere 19, in a car that had a wheel fitted by a stoner, so I went back to the chiller aisle to see if the member of staff had brought some out after I'd asked her, great , another 4 boxes of 6 , so I loaded them into my trolley , I had to laugh, as she had left one box out back that she didn't want me to buy, manager went & got that,so I did get them all, haha. Noticed a man in till queue with 4 large brown cardboard boxes with 14 singular boxes of cornflakes in each=56 boxes, opposed to my mere 43 soya drinks, made sure I queued behind him, was all ready, and of course,not a word from the lovely happy cashier. Anyone else had this in a supermarket? I know if items in sale, of course they don't want one person to buy all & sure, limit the amount per customer, these were full price . I'm afraid I think I was told a load of poppycock & will ring Tesco head office to find out. By the way I wasn't rude to the member of staff, I just told her I believed she was talking nonsense & I wasn't rude to manager either I just told him the same. I'm not going to be complaining about them, I just need to know for future reference & if I am told I am wrong fair enough ,however if I was told the wrong information, then I'll have it in writing please & bring it with me & show it to the manager & member of staff,as wasn't happy & do not believe what I was told. Anyone heard of this limited purchase before? Interested to hear if anyone has had this happen. I'm happy, got my chocolate soya, wheel still on car.
  14. Isn't it just awful that we have to be suspicious , even if it was genuine, it's just horrible having to drive off, leaving us feeling guilty not knowing if it was a scam. There was a series on tv and in one scene, a girl was laying at the side of the road in the evening , a man stopped and went up to her, he got badly beaten and robbed. I know it was on tv However it makes you think. I guess it's a good idea to have car doors locked, as heard of lots of people getting robbed at traffic light. Glad you are ok Mrs y.
  15. I spoke to a female over the phone at cafe,who told me she feels this has gotten out of proportion and that they are quite happy keeping the cat there and that it is well fed. She said if someone wanted to give it a home they would have to be sure it would be a good home, she also said the cat has been there for over a year and lived out last winter. I think the cat is used to being there and is happy. The cafe do not have a problem at all and from what she said on phone, they do not need help, though appreciate the help they were given,re igloo and food. My only concern is cat hasn't been scanned or has it? As I never asked when on phone, so if someone nearby could take cat to local vets, that would be good. Only incase it is chipped and could be someone's lost cat, if no chip, from what I was told the cat is perfectly happy. There are Celia Hammond colony cats who are quite happy living out. I'd offer to take for scan however not sure when. If I take it or someone else here on forum, I'd ask vet to give a worm tablet and flea treatment whilst in there, may as well get that done! Probably only cost ?10. IF cafe hasn't or isn't doing this already. If it's lost and can find owner all well and good, if not, I'd personally leave the cat there as turtle went to check cat and said it looks healthy and happy. Celia Hammond are too busy most times to visit and as a struggling charity neutering clinic, their priority is trapping/ rescuing unneuterd cats. They are so stretched, though would check cat out etc, though would expect the cat to be taken to them. Should imagine this particular cat is neutered as would've given cafe kittens by now and most definitely cafe owners would know if uncastratrc male!, anyone up for popping in cafe and asking to pop cat to lordship lane vets?
  16. Thanks Chick, every signature counts. Real sad , he was such a gifted musician,checked his music out on you tube. Re the vegan one, that's ok, my attitude is, every one has to do what they believe is right for them. Ive been vegan for 43 years and I do not ever criticise any one for eating whatever they want, it's our life to live how we chose !!!!
  17. Yes op never took cat or locked it in, she mentioned she might see if she could get it scanned for chip. I think this forum has a lot of very nice people concerned for animal welfare, granted, people can't just take a cat,if concerned, unless obviously sick or injured, however there is no harm in finding out and asking questions. It's all with good intentions .A note for believe- Attack is the best form of defence. As long as people don't just take a cat, without checking the situation out, I can't see what the problem is. Everyone who notices cats, keep doing it, never be put of by anyone, we need to be more like this with our fellow humans!!
  18. I also spoke to people in cafe and they seem very nice and seem to know what they are doing, shame it wasn't lost Tess. Only thing that concerns me is has the cat been scanned for chip, as its so horrible to lose a cat, fair enough if no chip then the cat seems happy enough at cafe, they are kind for looking after it. Anyone know if it's been scanned?
  19. Haha, do they cater for vegans?! Will ring cafe tomorrow and will go up there, might even have a quick look this evening.
  20. Hello is the cat tabby and white as I'm still looking for Tess who went missing 29th sept, no collar not chipped, very small, huge appetite and very very skinny, she has white on face and feet, just rung cafe to ask but obviously closed as a bit late. Thanks.

Check out his music, just so sad,
  22. Agree with advice from IlonaM, and Celia hammonds. Put cat flap back, make sure Leo has somewhere high and quiet to retreat to. Get him checked at vets as sometimes if cats feel unwell, they move house. I would bring him home and keep him in and give him as much attention as you can, I certainly don't agree to cats being out at night, they are more likely to get run over or worse still, taken by nasty people who take them as bait for dog fighting and keeping in mind that the sick person is still taking cats at night time. The so called Croydon cat killer, it isn't just Croydon, check it out on snarl Facebook page. I really hope you get it sorted out as it must be horrible for you and Leo. Keep us updated. Good luck.
  23. Well if I had done a questionnaire , with replies on here and from other neighbours and friends, cutting through it accidentally, wins by miles!! I have spoke to my neighbour weeks ago Sue. I find that if it isn't inflicting irritation or being an ugly eyesore to them, it isn't an issue that really concerns them. I am always upfront with people, however when you ask other people to sort it out and nothing happens, then I have to deal with it as I'm sure if it was the other way around they would do the same, however I would not have had to be asked, I try to treat neighbours as I like to be treated. I won't be cutting through it, however tempting it may be. I have wrote to virgin. The front garden is for my sole use, however the land belongs to the council as we are leaseholders. As its classed like utilities, virgin do have the right to run their cables through garden, that I'm not disputing, it's just that its in green tubing accross the garden, rather than run along side of fence. Anyhow, maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy and maybe most people wouldnt care. If I get it resolved by writing, will update so anyone else with same issue knows what to do. If all else fails, be naughty.
