  1. Is there still a meet at the sandpit tomorrow?
  2. Hi Lou, Replied to your e mail asking if you'd be happy to make the meet at the Peckham Rye enclosed picnic area this week so that those of us with very restless toddlers can attempt to have a conversation, rather than just chasing after out little ones. Pek rye would keep them 'contained' without going to far?
  3. Miles and I would love to come too x
  4. I'm not back to work, have a 15mth old boy (and pregnant with my second) and would love some more mummy friends to meet up with, so please let me know if you hook up. Tue or wed avos usually good for us. x
  5. Loved my home birth with my first...really hope to stay home with any future births too. Will try and make Thur 2pm x
  6. My 10 month old had the jab a few days ago and has been fine....no apparent arm soreness and no temp, crying etc. I think some babies react badly and are unwell for a couple of days and others have no reaction at all. I wasn't sure whether to do it because I didn't want to make him ill but the doc persuaded me that full blown swine flu would me MUCH worse and luckily he has been fine.
  7. I heard the rumour that it was a sign of a healthy baby too but at least 3 friends of mine didn't suffer a single day of sickness and also had perfectly healthy babies so just unlucky for those of us who do end up throwing up I guess!
  8. Accupuncture really helped me, and yoga type breathing and stretches. The only time I didn't feel as queasy was when doing those sort of exercises. Have you tried either of these? The ginger tea, ginger capules and crackers etc didn't seem to work in my case. Good news is though that mine went from being really bad to just stopping dead at about 16 weeks so maybe this will be the case for you...perhaps it will just stop any day now? Let's hope!
  9. I agree...it won't pay to be too strict about 'baby led weaning' only. What's the harm in having normal meals/purees etc and letting them get plenty of finger food practice too, with snacks and finger food alongside the porridge/pureed meals? I think food does definitely make a difference with sleeping and generally being more settled. They get to a weight and age when they need it and I found porridge (or something carb laden) for tea made my little one sleep much longer in the eves.
  10. ...or even soles of feet, sorry...no sleep!
  11. Medised junior was withdrawn from the market because it was not safe for such young babies (harmful side effects etc)...nothing that knocks a little one out so deeply can be doing them any good!?! The chemists do sell a vicks-like chest rub for tiny babies, it has a different name but works well rubbed on chest and souls of feet at night.
  12. On walking to the Lane this afternoon we realised we had dropped a brand new brightly coloured striped Jo Jo blanket on the path (on either Goodrich road or the top end of Lordship Lane, between The Mag and Lucas). We immediately re-traced our steps so it can only have dropped off the buggy less than 5 minutes before and already it was gone! Please PM me if you have it or have seen it. It is very sad to think that someone stole the blanket, saw it and decided to keep it for themselves??, but unfortunately this seems to be the case. Thanks.
  13. ;-)....It's called Nappy Valley for a reason I'm afraid! he hee
  14. people keep telling me to put mustard on my nipples to stop my little monster biting them off when he breastfeeds......so maybe cover yourself in mustard???;-)
  15. ....If only we could all afford the wraps/treatments/cosmetic surgery that celeb mums resort to!!! I agree, isn't is one of the best bits about pregnancy NOT having to think about your tum sticking out or bloating after a big meal etc. Looking forward to being pregnant again and letting it stick out proudly:))
  16. When showering I lay towels on the bathroom floor, put a stack of toys down and let my son roll around and play (with the door shut so he can't escape). A friend suggested I put our travel cot up in the kitchen too for when I'm cooking/cleaning etc and that's been really helpful. I hang things off it, fill it with toys and a couple of soft blankets, put the radio on for us and he seems very happy to watch me dancing around and cooking and so on. Hadn't thought about the tree this Christmas (his first!)...yes, I can see that could be interesting:))
  17. I know how annoying it is being held up behind a sea of buggies but now find myself a mum too and therefore one of those annoying people on the paths :-$ We need our buggies to carry the heavy babes, vast changing bags and heavy shopping bags so spare a thought for us too! We're already self conscious of this and the hostility and general irritation from people (without little ones) around us isn't very pleasant during an already (usually) stressful day. I'm sure most mums would LOVE not to have to drag a buggy around. I propose a separate 'buggy lane'??? :))
  18. Thanks Molly, that sounds like what I need!
  19. ...By way, have mentioned on another post about DVDs I've found usefull. 10 minute solution- Workout DVDs on Amazon, all different types of exercise/dance/boxing etc (something for everyone) that you can do in 10minute bursts. It's more realistic finding the odd 10mins in your day when busy with babies than having enough time to go to a full class or a gym. Post baby I can recommed the 'Blast off Belly Fat' dvd...ha ha!
  20. ...Can anyone recommend a good buggy for running? Are there any on the market especially for that? I have the M&P Skate which is just too heavy, after 20mins running my back is killing. Re powerpramming you don't actually run consistently for any length of time, more stop and start, doing exercises in between, so must buggies will be ok. By way, for mums who have very little time (and maybe don't want to powerpram in the rain and cold through winter) there are some great DVDs on Amazon called '10minute solution'. All different types of exercise with routines in 10 minute bursts so you can do them with the babe playing next to you or whilst napping, and they're tough. I'm getting great results from doing them a few times a week.
  21. Haven't read whole thread, sure someone must have pointed this out...but wouldn't you agree the little ones are soooo worth any bodily changes, bits of extra 'podge'?? Anyway, don't forget that we're always much more conscious and critical of our bodies than anyone else. I expect nobody actually notices the little changes or fat we obsess about. It's all we see when we look in a mirror but other won't notice unless you point it out.....so don't, just glam up your hair, nails, wear nice clothes etc (when you get chance!) and feel proud at what an amazing thing your body has done for you and your family. :))
  22. Beware ordering anything delivered by Royal Mail at the moment. Since internet shopping in the last month or so I have 3 out of four deliveries declared missing. They seem to be despatched but never get further than our local sorting/post office.....or disappear somewhere in between? I think there's piles of stuff just left to sort and deliver in the East Dulwich area. Don't the post workers now want extra pay to cover the overtime they'd have to do to make up for all the post left undelivered since they went on strike!?! Such a pain. On Hillcourt Road we occasionally get a bit of old post dropped through the door at about lunchtime, a couple of times a weeek.
  23. I spoke to the priest at St Thomas More and he said he would christen my son but I had to attend church weekly for at least 6 months or so before he could discuss christening arrangements. My son is already 6 months now (and i've since attended for a couple of months) so this means that he will be christened a lot older than I would have liked (babies in my family have traditionally been christened by about 2-3 months old).....so I expect that he would say the same to you! Hope this helps...
  24. The Ergo sling comes into it's own when the baby is a few months older, then it's fantastic. I love mine, so comfortable and it doesn't give me back probs like every other carrier I've used. You will get loads of use out of it Heidi, and the baby's not newborn for long!
