  1. I think it's abundantly clear that any 'democratic indignation' is about the failure to consult those outside the CPZ who would be negatively affected by the proposal, not about the consulting of those within the proposed CPZ. Knock down an argument that hasn't been made if you must, but don't expect to be taken too seriously. And as for 'unhappy people on internet forums', why wouldn't those ignored by the Council in this way be unhappy about it? And how else would most people in adjacent streets have found out about the CPZ other than through 'internet forums' (I know of only one, but maybe there are others)? Southwark certainly made no effort at all to inform them.
  2. I assume that if one has signed the petition in a local shop, this will be included in the overall petition. Is that right?
  3. kr988, who is bored? Why do your needs outweigh those of those of everyone who would be disadvantaged? And what is this intimidation? Perhaps you shoul get the police on to it, looks to me like incitement to ED station CPZ hatred. Using unlawful weapons such as reasoned argument, common sense, and calls for fair consultation. Outrageous behaviour.
  4. I am just staggered by this. It is manifestly not a democratic or a fair consultation and councillors' answers about having to expand the consultation hugely at intolerable expense if it is to be expanded at all are just ridiculous. How convenient for the Council not to be able to afford proper consultation. Let's face it, this is barely a consultation at all. Even the invitation to comment on Southwark website says the first area of questioning will be about "Whether or not you support a CPZ in your street". I got no further. No CPZ is proposed in my street, so what am I to say? A CPZ is proposed that will have a seriously adverse impact on my street. How are my views to be considered? I would have very serious reservations in future about voting for any party or individual that interprets local democracy in the way the current administration seems to. It is very sad. If only someone would just take a step back, and a deep breath, and say sorry, yes maybe we got it wrong. But no chance of that it seems.
  5. Oh come on, garnwba, that's just nonsense. Even at its worst (and I don't much care for it at its worst), I've NEVER had to look for 20 minutes to find a space. Nor had to park more than about 200 yards away. Even during the day, on a weekday, which is the busiest time. And usually we can get to within a few cars of home. It's not great, and can be frustrating, but it's really not as bad as all that. But I'd be happy with residents' parking. Keep the vehicle dumpers away, and the occasional people who park for two weeks while they go on holiday.
