Not anonymous at all - just goes to prove that one person's anonymous is another person's linchpin of LL.
  2. I guess the true indication of a shop/restaurant being totally anonymous is that no-one can actually think of what it is to vote for it!
  3. I loathe air con. Last winter I was in an office that blew out out hot and very dry air above my head, so my head constantly felt hot which made me faintly dizzy, whilst my feet were like ice. There were 5 of us in a small office with no fresh air and we seemed to take it in turns to be ill all winter. This year I am in an office with radiators and windows, and fingers crossed have kept relatively healthy.
  4. I moved to East Dulwich in the mid '80's and there were definitely no trains on Sundays - can't remember when they restarted. The 40 didn't go up LL but went to Brockley (I think).

  6. Hi Tillie I was just a tad peeved as all I really wanted to know was whether other women were having the same problem as me - or whether I was being singled out for some reason. I don't want to tell the git to f*** off as that would, in my opinion, lower myself to their standard. I thought some of the suggestions were very amusing and some were, as you say, a bit over the top.

Well actually all I asked was if other people had received the same sort of abuse (out of interest) and then commented that I'm not the sort of person who relishes a confrontation, especially at 7.45 am. I have been interested in other peoples' comments, but it's not me who has suggested the more outlandish solutions, nor have I tried to turn it into any form of drama. I don't actually look or feel intimidated but do believe it is my right to go to work without attracting the kind of Neanderthal comments that I have had to put up with.
  8. So many of Philip K Dick's novels have been made into films, but this is the one that seems to have caught the imagination.
  9. They took mine too
  10. Just rung the council and complained - they've made a note of it and given me a reference and said it should be collected by the 10th - great just in time for next weeks collection. Lets hope that I am in the same boat as heber jumble queen!
  11. Hi Thanks to everyone who has commented. I don't think a face to face confrontation is my way of dealing with things - I think however if it happens again I will make a complaint to Morrissons.
  12. Mine should have been collected yesterday and wasn't. It's a shame because I really thought they'd got their act in gear after months of complaints. Guess I'll be on the phone at lunchtime to see what's happening. If I get a sensible answer I'll post in on the board.
  13. I do look at people in LL and wonder if they are on the forum, and who they are. On the other hand I quite like to be anonymous so would never do anything about it. I did try the CPT on the strength of the many recommendations on the forum, but have to admit it's not quite to my choice.
  14. I am not talking about a 'Morning Darlin' I would probably smile and say 'Morning' back or even a whistle, I am talking about very rude and unkind comments about my appearance. I have a sense of humour and don't mind a bit of banter, but I don't like being insulted at 7.45 am when I am not at my most witty.
  15. Has anyone else come across this lot? They sit outside the cafe near to the Melbourne Grove Medical practice every morning. Usually I am on the Post Office side and cross right on the junction, but a couple of times I've crossed earlier and walked past them - both times I have been subjected to very unpleasant comments, and today was very rudely insulted. Problem is that you are (a) caught unawares (b) do they really mean you and © in a rush to get to catch your train so unlikely to challenge them. Has anyone else come across this, or is it just me they've taken a dislike to? I don't usually let such petty mindededness upset me, but their comments are not funny merely rude and hurtful.
  16. Walked past page 2 on the way to the Nuns Head on Sunday and it looks a very very long way from re-opening.
  17. The woman is certainly guilty of naivety - and to be honest one does have to be very careful in such countries. However I am sure that there is more to this than simply naming the teddy bear. Makes me glad I don't adhere to any organised religion.
  18. I used to chat with Timothy Spall on a regular basis when he played 'Bottom' at the RNT's version of 'Midsummer's Night Dream'. I was just getting the Z read from the bar till but he was always friendly and made time for myself and anyone else who talked to him.

  20. Can't carry home more than 12 bottle of wine at a time so have to resort to the car!
  21. Just wanted to add my support to AJ Farmer. When I moved to ED about 20 years ago my ex and I were able to stock our first kitchen out using just that one shop - and Mr Farmer has always been friendly and helpful.

As HeidiHi says they leave the box outside - the delivery guy usually puts the bin in front of it. Must say that I can't see someone legging it with a big box of veg - we've never had problems.
  23. I can recommend Riverford too - the local supplier runs like a 'concession' in charge of his own customers rather than being centralised, this means that each local supplier has much more interest in keeping his particular customers happy. I've used them for about 3 - 4 years now and on the couple of occasions the produce hasn't lived up to scratch I've complained and the next week I've had a little extra in my box.
  24. Have to say that if I fancy a really good curry I'd leave ED and go to Babur's - still a favourite after 20 years!
  25. I know that there was a really long thread discussing this gym before it opened, but wondered if anyone has actually joined/gone to a class there. If so, is it worth the money and would you recommend it?
