It is a boys > film. Total and utter drivel - most films are either good or bad, well made, interesting, well acted or are not. People's tastes are less affected by sexuality than you'd think. What 'sex' film would 'I am Legend' be or 'Downfall' or 'Sideways' or 'Tell No-One' ?

Russian Winter Festival - Trafalgar Square - 13 January
Cassius replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
I haven't been but I've been caught up in the traffic it caused. An hours wait for a 176 on Charing Cross road (only had bus tickets that day - don't ask) and then 45 minutes to go around Trafalgar Square with a bus driver that wouldn't let one off. Avoid the area unless you want to go to the Festival. -

From what I've heard it is meant to be closing completely some time in the Spring for 6-10 months - if anyone is interested there are lots of plans in the foyer. I am a bit worried that it might be a lot longer - apparently a pool in Hackney has just opened - it was planned to open for the Millenium! -

The McCanns - any sympathy I may have once felt for them is now gone - Maddie The Movie - and who is going to star as them - Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz (sorry we've already had that combo!)?

I love DPG - after the Courtauld it is my favorite gallery in London. Haven't been to the current exhibition yet but it is in the diary.
-
Blooming audio commentaries at exhibitions - everyone stops in the same place and it bottlenecks! Tall people at exhibitions, tall people at gigs, tall people in front of me!
-
Women who wear high heels and can't walk in them. People who get to the front of the queue and THEN get their purses out, ditto with travelcards and Oyster cards. Tourists who stop in silly places to look at maps. People meandering down the middle of the pavement texting.

The Village Inn (was The Page 2 pub)
Cassius replied to trytapas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Will try and make it - good luck with your venture and hope you've got something decent for us veggies for Sunday lunch -

There is the delightful Kentish Drovers in Peckham and the equally lovely Capitol in Forest Hill (at least the building is or could be lovely). I don't think you would have taken your kids there anyway to be honest!

Many of us who are childFREE not childLESS have made a decision that suits us. I don't care whether or not people have one, two or ten children. I chose a different lifestyle, not a wrong lifestyle! and I am very happy with it. If you are very happy with your choices then good for you. Don't tar us all with the same brush. Just as there are good parents and bad parents out there, there are those who may regret their decision and those who most certainly don't! You sound very patronising, why don't you embrace the fact that there are different courses for different horses!

They are still using Unwins bags as well -
I do remember a chat with the manager of another off-license in the area who said something about them closing - I hope its not true - it would be a loss to LL if it went.

Without sounding toooooo stupid - where can one get a copy of this?

I don't eat meat because I didn't want to eat animals that had led dreadful lives and were probably full of antibiotics & steroids and when I gave up free-range/organic meat wasn't easily available (especially in LL 18 years ago). Now I've got used to not eating meat and don't think my body would like it. My partner does not like meat - end of. I am not the fussiest of vegetarians, if I go out to dinner I would never question whether the cheese had rennet in it, but I prefer to avoid meat products where possible. Sometimes I miss the 'structure' of a meat and two veg type meal and then we'll have a meat substitute - ie veggie sausages in a toad in the hole - but this is not often.

You don't get bacon flavoured > sprouts or artichoke shaped pieces of steak. I think most people who have been veggie for a while don't - but for those who are new to it, it does help the transition. Also veggie kids often want something similar to what their friends eat, and I guess for them and for 'big kids' they are an easy option.

Went to Eat and Two Veg in Marylebone high street and have never been more disappointed in a meal in my life - we waited ages for our wine, and when it came it was actually warm (it was red but WARM) - the food sounded wonderful on the menu but I could have cooked better - and it was so unmemorable that I can't even remember what I ordered. IMO The Gate in Hammersmith is the best veggie restaurant in London http://www.thegate.tv/ obviously not in ED - but worth a try anyway. My biggest veggie gripe is veggie sausages as the Sunday Lunch option - lazy and thoughtless.
-
The Nuns Head (run by the same people as The Gowlett) do a good veggie Sunday lunch although I have to admit that I didn't take too much notice of the gravy. Not quite LL but still a thought.

Sorry Maurice, I'd rather have the choice of shops and restaurants that LL offer, even if the 'facade' is not so architecturally interesting and aesthetically pleasing.... goodness what a heathen I must be.

Mmmmm- I've just had a look in their window, to see all main brand wines. Must say that I didn't know that Rosemont Ridge, Oxford Landing, Lindemans, Jacobs Creek, Gallo Brothers et al were organic. Obviously I couldn't see all the stock but those brands don't represent a USP to me AND at what looked like (small lables and didn't want to stare too much) ?6.99 a bottle it is not a cheaper option than more interesting wines elsewhere. What a shame
