  1. Can't make it tonight but will try over the weekend.
  2. As the amount of smoke I encounter goes down, so does my tolerance for it. Even though I don't smoke I used to like the smell of cigarette smoke in the pub - it was part of going out and part of the atmosphere. Now I find standing next to someone who reeks of smoke unpleasant.
  3. SeanMG I would agree wholeheartedly with you if someone had moved in next to an existing pub - no excuses. However if the neighbours to the BC moved in when it was a greengrocers, with 9-5 hours then I think they are allowed to feel slightly miffed at the changes going on next door to them. A friend of mine used to have trouble with Liquorish - again it was the change from a travel agent to a bar that made the difference - when they moved in they did not anticipate moving close to a bar.
  4. Further to the Blondie41 post on builders etc, can someone please let me know how one can recommend someone if they happen to be a friend but you still think that they do a very good job and deserve recommendation. Is it ok to say "XYZ is a brilliant carpet fitter" or do you need to add that XYZ is a friend or member of the family to clarify the situation. I don't want to fall foul by accident.

  6. I rather foolishly bought a pint and a half of rather exotic looking wheatbeer near Trafalgar Square and it came to ?7.10 for the two.
  7. Mikese22 - Jamie is back - well he was there on Saturday (been busy with college work I believe). The story with the garden does go back to when it opened, when you could sit out there until 9.00, then even that stopped, due to complaints about the noise, so I find it hard to believe that not having this area, which really they've never had, would mean that they have to close.

    I LOVE.....

Hot hot hot sun. Cold cold cold beer.
  9. Guy in my office just said he would be proud to pledge allegiance to the Queen (and he is under 30). Do you think this is grounds enough for me to hand my notice in (I sit opposite him....)
  10. I'd rather pull my fingernails out. Anyway aren't we meant to be subjects not citizens.............?
  11. Goodness Keef - you've managed to make it look really nice :)

Where have they all gone? Goodness I must have walked around with my eyes closed for the past however many years then.

Music to my ears - if not too much of a pun...... let me know and I'll be there. Do you get your music from the stall at Greenwich market.
  14. I've had their sourdough and really liked it.

    I LOVE.....

    drinking prosecco in the bath
  16. I hope that I will never be ghoulish enough to celebrate someone's death however much I abhorred their politics - I am with ????'s on that one.
  17. Hope your flat mate is ok now - I've lived in ED for nearly 21 years and have never been mugged here so hope that your unfortunate start doesn't put you off the area.
  18. Naples isn't Italy - it is one of the few places in Italy I haven't felt welcome. Good Italian food is great - crap Italian food is crap.
  19. Hey - I'd be happy to swim anywhere and with anyone that doesn't splash! I think a 'relaxed' swim session would be lovely - perhaps they could dim the lights, have some background music.........
  20. Er - to answer another question in the thread I like Women Only swimming sessions because other women don't get naffed off when I swim faster than them and then make a huge effort to show that they can actually swim faster than me and end up half drowning me with their ineffectual efforts at the front crawl. Women all swim at their own pace and this creates a more relaxing vibe in which to exercise. Not all men but some seem to see everything as a competition - some even compete to see who could meditate best and get into the deepest trance (I have experienced this actually) sorry if off subject but I wasn't a member of the forum last time this topic came up!
  21. I think this new restaurant is a tad closer than Madrid - although I will put the addy in my diary just in case........

  23. I've never had Peroni Gran Reserva.......

  25. Good luck from me too - I look forward to it - especially fresh pasta and breads, and lovely fresh pecorino! And nothing wrong with being 'difficult' if it means you get good results. Any chance of a 'masterclass' or two!?
