  1. What percentage of people use the Bendy Bus as the "free" bus - quite a high one I would think! The savings from ensuring all passengers paid would not cover the cost of conductors I am sure, but still a valid point.
  2. A bluebell wood
  3. KalamityKel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > AND itelligence doesn't mean anything compared to > common sense... ;-) > > Sorry just thought I'd add that :-$ You just beat me to it - I would rather have a kind and practical partner than one who was in quantum physics but was in a world of their own (as long as they could actually read.........)
  4. Scuba diving through a kelp forest. Sunrise over the Dead Sea. Sunset over a lake in Mexico. Seeing my current partners face light up when we re-met after 18 years apart and it was like we'd never been parted.
  5. Very easy to forget about Iceland - I do it all the time.
  6. 1) not having met, married and divorced a millionaire by the age of 20 2) being short 3) not finishing War & Peace
  7. As for using zebra crossings - you really are taking your life in your hands.
  8. Congratulations G&B - we'll be back....
  9. Went to Richmond on Saturday and had lunch on a boat on the river - lovely!
  10. I'm with you on this - so many jobsworths so little real work to do.... goodness they'll be fining us for dropping cigar butts next - ooops...........
  11. Are we getting our bins and our bags in a muddle? From what I've read from the Southwark recycling bumpf - the bin men are not supposed to take cardboard from the green bins (or from beside them), they are, however, allowed to take cardboard that is included in the blue newspaper bags - although they are not happy about it.
  12. We put cardboard in our newspaper bag and it gets taken - I think they huff and puff a bit about it, but they do take it.
  13. Think we might head off towards the river somewhere tomorrow if weather nice - sadly so will lots of others.

Bored bored bored bored bored - but luckily less than 90 minutes to go..........
  15. As you say Boris - we are all entitled to vote with our feet. I will give the new regime a chance before I make judgment.
  16. Neither Nicholas nor Boss Man wines have anything like the selection that Green & Blue have (although there are some good offerings at the East Dulwich Deli). Neither Nicholas nor Boss Man gave you the opportunity to drink wines by the glass that are seldom on offer except for a rare wine bar, nor did they, nor anyone else that I know of on LL offer wine tasting classes. These aspects make me hope that they stay open for those of us who enjoyed it to continue to enjoy it.
  17. Thanks for that information legalbeagle - I very much hope indeed that we will be coming to G&B for a drink this weekend.
  18. I heard that about Oxfam - although thinking about the logistics of the Oxfam set-up it is not surprising that admin takes up a lot of money. Also heard similar things about The Salvation Army and having been around the school at Denmark Hill on London Open Day can believe it.
  19. Changing GP is NOT always the way for everyone. I have back problems which are dealt with by a particular doctor at Melbourne Grove by dry needling which had done me more good than any other technique - not many GP's offer this. Also I have build up a rapport over many years with the staff there - especially a couple of the nurses and one or two of the GP's - why should I have to go through all the hassle of finding another surgery (especially one that offers good times for those of us who work AND is right next to the train station). I don't like the new regime, and it is VERY new - but as I am lucky enough to only need to use the doctor infrequently at the moment I am prepared to put up with it for now.
  20. When I gave up meat everyone told me I'd miss bacon but I didn't as agree the smell was always divine but the actually was always a let down.
  21. Bar Story is a lovely spot to while away some time before going to the cinema and dropping off for one for the road after going to the cinema!
  22. As pointed out they are paid - I considered (briefly) doing this when I went back to Uni - there is no empathy with one charity or another - you can be collecting for a cancer charity one day, a children's charity the next and an animal charity the next.
  23. The more I hear from the main contenders the less I want to vote for any of them.........
  24. When people can throw their freebie newspapers over the fence when there is a designated bin for them just outside then I guess they can do anything.
  25. I don't frequent 72 or the Drum but feel sorry for those who love the places - sounds like it's all change on LL/ED.
