  1. I did try and ask the workmen what was going on but none of them spoke any English - I have head that it is a chain from Sydenham but whether that's just a rumour or not I don't know.

  3. The Beer Festival is only today and tomorrow so Sunday lunch can be avoided.
  4. I would have thought train to London Bridge - then Jubilee line to Baker Street and change there for the Bakerloo. That's the way I go anyway.
  5. I have heard that it is to be refurbished and expanded and the upstairs done up too.
  6. Leave them at home - I found being left when my parents went on holiday very character building - I learnt to cook, to remove spiders from shower without being scared etc etc etc. Hopefully they won't mess the place up and the women in their later lives will thank you. edited for typo
  7. I haven't joined the new gym as it is beyond my pocket, but when I went to look around before it opened it seemed to have a lot more going for it than eater81 mentions. The assessments are done by qualified physiotherapists, the pilates machines are second to none, and I believe that the membership fee includes classes as well as use of the very high spec equipment.
  8. Hey guys - if you find the thread so boring, why are you bothering to read it and comment on it - surely it is easier just to ignore the threads you are not interested in.

Until recently I used to see children in a pub/bar/restaurant and groan - I would expect bad behaviour and almost wait for it, then at the slightest infringement I would almost feel affronted. Now I try and not get so uptight about it and although I agree that there is some outrageous behaviour from children that do not seem to understand the difference between indoors and outdoors, I find that I am getting a lot less stressed about it all.
  10. Matt - times have moved on and I find the more that one gets uptight about children/parents/prams/whatever, the more you will find things about them that you find annoying. Best to just chill out and be glad that you live in an area that is tolerant and safe enough to have a mixture of people. In my dreams I'd love to find a completely child free beer garden, where the sun shines all day and chilled out music is playing...... perhaps 'Carlsberg' could help!

  12. I think their clothes are really boring and safe.
  13. I was going to say something about Green and Blue but as it's banned.........
  14. My friend was there and thought it was a Dating night with people with name badges!
  15. Well -I've got my appointment however it would have been a very different matter if my symptoms were, shall we say, of an intimate problem - what is one to do then? Not everyone is in their own office or can just pick up their mobile and find somewhere private to talk.
  16. It would seem that there is definitely a uniform for the men I see around ED - long shorts, pseudo surfing t-shirt, flip flops and it would seem that a lot of men around here are very challenged in the hair department.
  17. Well finally had to make the call for an appointment - to be treated by the receptionist as if I was a semi-criminal at least. When I pointed out that I might be in a meeting or not at my desk when I was called back I was roundly rebuked, and told I would have to call again if that happened. After being at this practice for over 20 years since the heyday of Dr Grant, I could cry at the treatment I now have to put up with in order to get an appointment with my doctor. I KNOW what is wrong with me and I even know which doctor I should see about it, but that is no longer good enough. In fact because I got a bit stressed and upset on the phone I expect that my message won't even be passed on.
  18. Its going fine now that it's nearly over - well the working bit of it is.........
  19. Nice to know that someone who works in Halfords in Brixton has English as their first language!
  20. If you can't manage your journey on a bus or a tube without the need for an alcoholic drink then maybe you're the one with the problem not Boris. I like a drink or ten, but its not necessary to me all the time. I would think that a load of tanked up yoots knocking back cans of wife-beater could be very intimidating to others - and after all public transport is for the general public, not just sections of it. No matter what you or I think of Boris - we've got him for 4 years - so why not give the guy some time and space. All the moaning and groaning in the world is not going to make him go away!
  21. But 5 beers can mean lots of things - 5 pints of Leffe, 5 bottles of Chimay Black, 5 halves of John Smiths - I think we need more details.
  22. I'm waiting for people to start moaning that it's too hot for them! Another couple of days over 23 degrees and we'll be getting warnings about staying out of the midday sun and threads of hosepipe bans.......
  23. The more I read this thread the more I am glad I don't eat meat!
  24. I think the 8.05 is a doodle compared to the 7.51 - now that is a nightmare and I feel really sorry for the guy who gets off at Peckham Rye who has a regular group of women standing around him waiting to pounce on his seat as soon as he looks like he is about to move!
  25. Hey - if we're dreaming - what about a TK Maxx?!
