  1. The Govt could have saved him but clearly could not back down from Milibans disastrous comments after the Copenhagen fiasco. The Chinese need a good kick up the arse over human rights. Lets not forget this was the first state sanctioned murder for 50 years of a european. That alone has to be highly significant, I'm sure that they have had the opportunity before. However, it looks like we are going to get a 'punch in the mouth' from Iran for Milibans comments. He's not wrong, we have to stand up against bullies, but it is a question of degree. Miliban comes from an electic background you'd think he would know better.
  2. The only reason I m going out is to avoid Jools (he's so boring)
  3. Going on a stag weekend and realising you are the oldest one there.
  4. Well, even in their statement, which was on the official Chinese website yesterday, the Chinese said "This case has been undergoing for more than two years, it is absurd to link it with the issue of Climate Change." Which, conspiricy theorist that I am, suggests it is about nothing else. The Chinese last year carried out some 70% of the worlds executions, at about 5 a day. Indeed, hardly the action of a murderous state. Finally to suggest my comment is in any way racist is to stupidly miss the point entirely. This is, very sadly for the late Akmal Shaikh, all about politics.

I've said it before. Er, wish I could remember how to attach these photos.
  6. It seems that the life of Akmal Shaikh is currently held in the balance because of British complaints that China were obstructive at Copenhagen. Should we apologise?
  7. Is it ok to have sex with a robot then? Le Trung's looks a bit like a blow up doll. Not that I have ever seen one of course. But is it essentially the same thing. After all nobody gets hurt, do they?
  8. K Star is far too short I fancy Our Vic each way
  9. She was sort of south London. I heard she lived in Brockley twixt Lewisham when she was v famous. I used to see someone who looked a lot like her driving a TR7 through Dulwich in the late 70's early 80's, but who knows, probably me being romantic. 'Sad old' Edoldie.

  12. Exactly the point, because of that we could lose our (please, don't laugh) very skilled bankers to other countries and other companies. Why should unsubsidised banks compete with ours. We are clearly going to have to keep the skill level to stay competitive and because of the tax on bonuses that will cost us more. It will also cost the others more, so why not, they may think move to a less taxing regime? The top players in the city could move elsewhere following the markets. We need to stay at the top of the game or risk losing a massive amount of tax revenue, ?42 billion I believe, in the future.
  13. I don't know much about football. But I understand that footballers are looking for 'net' earnings these days. I.e what they end up with after tax rather than before tax. What is to stop your average international banker looking for the same deal? Could the taxing of bonuses in the way suggested by the govt actually lead to the bankers being even better paid than they are. Which, all the time we hold massive stakes in the banks, would be at our expense? As I often say you have admire these politicians with the courage of their contradictions.
  14. Had to drive over to (and back from) Clapham tonight. Utter chaos on the roads, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Southwark. I would say not one borough has had the gritters out and even if the did they would not be able to get anywhere and would therefore be ineffective. Our road never sees a gritter (well once in about 1976, or was it '63?). The roads are a bit of a worry but it's the pavements that get me they are soooo treacherous. It's a wonder the don't have an A & E at East Dulwich Hospital.

  20. Well thats it then if it's in the Express it must be true. Let this be a warning to all you unbelievers and sceptic deniers (is this right?). I'm off to buy a Rolls Royce meself.
  21. Well, I'll go off topic here but I think the judge at the time was refering to a man sitting on a bus going through Clapham rather than terminating or begining his journey there. Back on topic that is not what I think but what I do think is that politicians and some sections of society bully people if they dare to question their masters or the accepted 'wisdom' of time. Mind you it could be very amusing if some judge did ask the jury to consider what the reasonably educated and intelligent but non-specialist tit on the clapham omnibus might think.
  22. You sure? I thought they terminated and started at the Plough.
  23. Is there a prize for guessing which station?
  24. I might have this wrong but didn't the 78 route originally run from Dulwich Plough (Barry Road) to Aldgate and was downsized (in every sense) when the 40 was introduced? They were the majestic Routemaster back then, oh, and people queued in those days too.
