  1. Lost pink Sony experia phone somewhere between Bromar and Choumert Road in Peckham. PM me if you find anything!
  2. I agree with all that's been said. I've been using the thameslink service from PMR for the past 4 years, and it has steadily got much busier in terms of passenger numbers, but no increase in capacity. Often people can't get on at PMR and DMK on the 8.16 and 8.36 trains from PMR, and both are seriously overcrowded. It is a HORRIBLE commute. They are also both always late (perhaps the arrival times aren't always late as they allow extra time, but departures are definitely always at least 3 or 4 mins late, which is annoying when you are running after dropping kids!...why can't they just schedule it later???) The Victoria trains at similar times (8.13 and 8.33) are emptier, but are also always late. Another point is that the platform at PMR at these times (when the VIC and Thameslink services coincide) is also downright dangerous, as there are just so many people on it. Particularly near the outside waiting area near stairs where platform is very narrow. Its also very busy on platform 4 at peak evening rush hour. The station wasn't designed as a change-over point really, and it cannot cope with the numbers using it for commuting or changing. A last point is that the evening trains are really bad from Elephant. I get on earlier so get a seat, but I've seen days where people can't get on at Elephant. The peak is between DMK and Elephant, either morning or evening. I was thinking about writing to my MP as well about it, as it has got so bad. Would that help?
  3. I guess their rationale makes sense ie that getting rid of one way systems reduces traffic speed. I live round here and walk along this stretch of road all the time, and the cars definitely speed up Bellenden road from Ganapati towards the Victoria Inn all the time. The junction with Chadwick road is particularly lethal, especially for cyclists. Also, the one way systems around this area are a nightmare to navigate around, and I definitely agree that removing them will help slow down traffic. I hope they eventually also remove the ones on Choumert road, Choumert Grove and all the other streets towards Rye Lane too. However, I don't understand the rationale for the bollards blocking Bellenden road next to Highshore Road;it won't affect traffic speed and will be really annoying for motorists driving up to the Peckham Road from this area. Is it because the road is too narrow? If so, could they not just leave that part as a one way street? Or give one direction the priority? Also, since loads of cars drive from the Peckham road towards East Dulwich, they should make that route the principal right of way on those junctions. Making the cars stop every 2 seconds on those junctions will just cause more danger;it will become like the junction of Maxted and Bellenden road which is very dangerous and annoying both as a driver and pedestrian - there they should make the turn into Maxted as the principal right of way. I would like to see the evidence that shows that making cars stop at the junctions all the time is safer. I also think lots of T junctions makes it more dangerous for cyclists. Finally, how many bad accidents have there been on this bit of road over the past 5 years? If very few, then perhaps money could be better invested elsewhere? The junction of East Dulwich Grove and Lordship Lane, for example, is much more lethal than Bellenden Road.
  4. This thread is unbelievable.... If you have a problem with the behaviour of your neighbours, why don't you just at least try talking to them about it first, before moaning on online forums or getting the council or police involved? While its true that some people may not react well to being asked to change their behaviour, but you could at least try - they might be perfectly reasonable about it if you explained why it is a problem for you. The original complainant's statement of "I suppose I could have a word with them but I can't really be arsed." sums it all up - its easier to moan to others behind their back that get off your backside and see if you can resolve the problem. Why is it that British people can't confront somebody face to face and prefer to moan online...??
  5. Some of us are still meeting up on Choumert occasionally....there is a group on Facebook that you can join (https://www.facebook.com/groups/244912855548760/) but numbers definitely have dwindled since last August. I would also be interested in the neighbourhood watch idea... We were about to put a bike box out the front but maybe its not such a good idea. Anyone had any problems with those?
  6. Dear Barry I've moved to Peckham Rye recently, and think its great that you have this forum on here. I'm afraid I haven't scanned through all 35 pages on this thread, but wanted to suggest a few improvements for the station, if its not too rude: - Please can you stop the yellow 'warning' pages on the information screens at PMR station - it's so annoying if you are trying to decide which train to get (in a hurry), and you have to wait for an extra 10 seconds for the train time screen to come up - the warning pages are completely illegible anyway, and pretty pointless - please can we just have a constant display of the train times and platforms? If its not possible to remove from both the info screens, please can we at least remove it from the one at the top of the stairs? - Would it be possible to install another oyster/ticket machine at PMR station? - every morning there is queue of about 3-4 people and I've missed trains each time I've had to wait 5 minutes to top up the oyster/buy travelcard. All tube stations have more than one machine, why can't our local train station have one, which must serve thousands of passengers each day. - Why is it not possible to get advance warnings of delays and cancellations? Last month when there was the snow, I was trying to get a FCC train to Farringdon, and the screen said it was delayed by about 5 minutes; I kept waiting for another 10 minutes (and in the mean time missed a train to LBR) and when I eventually pushed the info button, they told me it was cancelled; this is just completely crap and there is no excuse. Also, most mornings when the trains are delayed (I've yet to see a train that was on time in the 6 weeks I've lived here), the screen downstairs says the train is on time, and then when I get up to the platform, it is 5 minutes late. Shouldn't the two information systems be consistent? I'm sorry to grumble, but these kind of little irritations cause stress when you have to commute every day. Thanks...
  7. Hi Amy We are about to move to the area and looking for a builder to do our side return. Could you share your builder's details? Thanks Kathryn
