  1. mikeb That post is worth ?250,000. This joke of a fu?ing junction is worth ?2. They would have achieved the same/better just removing the barriers. It's broken now that's for sure ! Hey Ho at least it's creating jobs even if they add sweet FA to the locals The contractors and their chums at tlf and Southwark council are laughing all the way to their gaffs in sunny Sutton Swanley and Sunnydale. Whilst we struggle on as they laugh their tits off. We're the MUGS !
  2. It's very sad that the planning system is designed to create planning jobs rather than decisions. This farce of submitting plans and getting rejection for irrelevant reasons or because it upsets nimby's is a joke. The planning system is unfit for purpose! Who can blame individuals and developers when the system is purposefully vague "in order to create work for the planners their superiors and the local planning politicians who use it to gain votes and meddle". Disgusting !
  3. Great. I'll be writing that it's criminal underdevelopment there should be another floor or two to meet the UK's housing needs.
  4. OK Carry on as we are then .? 1. If it's so trivial why isn't price per SQM shown on agents sales details, maybe agents in the UK are too thick to work it out? 2. You'll know the price per SQm is different for modernised and un-modernised, it's easy to compare. 3. It doesn't stop it, nothing can stop lenders from breaking their own rules and fuelling the boom, that's where the price per SQM should make a difference. Mortgage debt is what drives the rising prices tools to manage debt will result in a stable market. The government could require all foreign property buyers to pay a percentage or all their tax in the UK or pay 25% foreigner stamp duty. Also laws requiring evidence of where foreign money have come from to stop criminal money coming to the UK, this problem makes us as nasty as the Swiss during WWII not that they're any less nasty today. It's a complex subject,, stamp duty paid by uk tax payers doesn't help keep the property market liquid it causes stagnation who wants to move when it can cost tens of thousands to down size? Everything appears to be setup to make property prices higher stifle supply and keep one or two old people in bigger houses than they need. Maybe oaps or owners of homes for over 15 years should pay no stamp duty. Something needs doing because carrying on as we are isn't working.
  5. Who cares about affordable homes. Affordable is misleading irrelevant and nonsense. The demand will dictate supply. The F&cking problem isn't affordability homes haven't been "affordable" since the 1960s. So just f?cking build what makes financial sense rather than stifle market and skew the brains of simpletons with talk of affordability. The mind boggles .. No wonder there aren't enough homes.
  6. Hi James Yes I agree whole life cycle is very relevant. With current electric cars it's the battery which is potentially a problem the rest of the car is no different to regular cars. So its a matter of swapping out the old battery in ten to 15 years with a replacement. In city centres the reduction in carbon monoxide output is well worth the difference.

  8. 100% Zipcar is NOT an answer! This is Paris Autolib' Electric cars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autolib%27 Nissan Leaf or BMW i3 Zip Cars or equivalent would be an answer.
  9. I heard that they're going to change Carlton avenue junction with Townley rd to make Carlton avenue priority.! Now I know the system is bonkers. Carlton avenue was priority until a few years back. So they're putting it back the way it was. Lol We really are being ripped off by these road people. What a way to spend our tax money. Change it every few years from X to Y and then back to Y from X .. And keep repeating every few year. Hysterical.. Oh and apparently a few one way roads not side roads as I suggest above. Oh nooooo .. Main roads. What a crock of ?hit.
  10. V511 I see what you're saying but I believe the only government action required is to free up the planning system with some straightforward permitted development to allow new houses to be built through avoiding the planning system and permitted allowance to build on plots adjacent to existing housing our within X distance of services. That is ALL the Government need do nothing more! As for price it's about time regulation was introduced to show prices in sq ft or sq m so there is clarity of price. And though such a system mortgage lenders would only lend based on the market price which would slow spiralling prices. It's what the rest of Europe does.
  11. Markets would if planners and government local and national did. I thought your point was the market wouldn't. It's a case of allowing the market some freedom. What we have in the UK is a restricted market.
  12. Nonsense If plots of land were made available. People would build their own homes as they do in Spain France Germany etc.. The fact is the are no available plots for individual home owners to build on. Only Barratt etc have access. Your view is wrong.
  13. akd I stay on topic and use relevant points, others keep derailing the thread. Zebedee Tring looking at you here. ;) IMO the more flats / homes and shops we get the better, that's progress. Housing density isn't any where near saturation point. Everywhere manipulation has been attempted it fails to help, it simply delays the inevitable. Three years on this thread as mentioned above. People wonder why there's a lack of housing! Did the Victorians go through this idiotic process ... No they got on with it and build on available plots. We are the procrastination generation. Truly sad.
  14. :) I recovered from the illusion many years ago.

I see. I don't regard it as an obsession, I regard it as common sense logic, where it affects the conversation, creates an illusion or nasty edge I enjoy pointing out the illusion. We live under Southwark Councils socialist agenda unavoidable it affects us in planning so it's relevant to this thread as can be seen by the comments and socialist undermoan. I promise if we had a right wing council and the conversation was r/wing, I'd be equally vocal against any inhumane oppressive no progressive illogical mathematically absurd etc policy's and comments.

If so who do you suggest I should have a word with the police? If not, I don't understand what you are saying please explain! I don't have an obsession I simply hate socialism post the great work it did in helping workers receive decent pay and working conditions, since then it appears to have done more harm to humanity than good. Bizzare
  17. It wasn't broken now it is. If we want to make the roads safe for cyclists then wherever possible roads should be made one-way for cars and the other lane should be two-way for cyclists. That's a radical cheap solution which would actually work make the roads safer and get people on two wheels and away from cars. Townley road could be made one-way from lordship lane to edg that would cause It's only a matter of time before that happens best to stop wasting money on other useless changes.

  19. Zebedee Tring Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Your obsession with the so-called scourge of > socialism is becoming somewhat tedious. It's the whinging socialists (living in their illusion) who've become rather tedious turn on the radio listen to the news and is moan moan moan. The poor need this. The rich have that. This thread has mentioned penthouse apartments somehow taking away homes for the poor and how disgusting it is for businesses to make money from assets they own. It just feels that every thread becomes a socialist opportunity to moan about the rich capitalists, either individuals or corporations, few ever question the incessant socialist whining, it has become "normal" to have a constant moaning socialist undermoan. (for the record I'm not some r/wing capitalist they're equally bonkers) We need more homes, the market will set out what should be built,,, that's not some evil capitalist system at work that's simply regular people (not the mega rich) living their lives and buying what they want. So if the socialists want to be nasty (they almost always are nasty) towards anyone it should be regular people because it's regular people (just like "them")who drive the markets. That's the socialist illusion.

More housing deprives local people of affordable housing. ?? That is suggesting the maths are + build high quality expensive housing - removes cheaper poor quality housing? Doesn't make sense! That's a bonkers! What new housing does regardless of the size quality or type is + ADD to the available housing stock. So if we are short housing any new housing is a good thing? Do I have my maths wrong ... It's just we keep hearing building new housing takes away housing and apparently btl takes homes out of the "system". The discussion on housing in the uk is bonkers ... it is constantly absurd contradictory and somewhat idiotic. nimby's and a socialist anti elite agenda skewing the reality and restricting supply insane.

  22. That's a beautiful building how on earth didn't it get a preservation order ??? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?5,file=193607 Oh well maybe we can get a 40 story replacement about time we had some height in ED :) Everything is around here is soooooo low ..... Come on let's have a couple of skyscrapers :) : ) : )

I NEVER COMPARED THE HOLLOCAUST TO AIRCRAFT NOISE! Please stop saying I did! In the grand scheme of THINGS apparently the only thing that matters is freedom to fly ,, Quality of life takes second place! That is the view from many of the responses to aircraft noise on this thread? (Live with the noise even if it fu$ks up your quality of life be thankful you are still living and breathing.! We don?t have a problem with IT! So why would anyone else!) > point many, including me, have been making is not > that the aircraft noise doesn't exist, of course > it does, but that it doesn't disturb us in the way > it disturbs you. So we are not denying anything, I?ll accept that is the case for some and I?m delighted for you and them. But others deny it could be a problem, read through the thread. Comments like ?perceived noise? and others are clear imo. Maybe I have misconstrued the comments as you and others have misconstrued my denier?s comparison? If I have and you and others are able to explain as I have then I would accept any misunderstanding and apologize. Would you do the same for me? > not even that you are clearly very disturbed by > the noise. We just don't share your level of > angst. So your accusation of 'being like' > holocaust deniers doesn't even make sense. We are > denying nothing, just not sharing your levels of > pain. The noise is there, it really doesn't bother > me. If anything, what you are implying is thus > that not being bothered by the aircraft noise is > the equivalent of not being bothered by the > holocaust. And if you think that... There you go again putting words in my mouth and misconstruing what I have said and getting all offended by your own warped interpretation. To be very very very clear I do not think that if you are not bothered by the aircraft noise it is the equivalent of not being bothered by the holocaust. For you to suggest that is a disgusting insult! Anyone who came to that conclusion from my comparison can only be described as a deranged na?ve nasty individual, especially as I have made it very clear my only intention was to question the thinking attitude and mindset of those who come onto this thread to question the existence of aircraft noise and question how it could be problem or anyone. Noise affects everyone differently but at some point it reaches a level which will annoy everyone (other than the deaf). We are sleepwalking into a 3rd Heathrow runway which would increase aircraft noise levels for all. So if you currently don?t hear the aircraft noise it is only a matter of time before you do as the number of flights will increase and in time flights will run 24/7 because as we have seen it?s the right of everyone to fly no matter what damage it does to the environment and how miserable it makes the lives those who live under the constant noise! Can we please draw a line under my comparison it has overtaken the subject of the thread clouded the thoughts and emotions of those who are unable to see it for what it is and insist in reading a nonexistent subliminal message. Thanks Zebedee Tring Thank you for you practical suggestion. I have covered this before to recap. I have tried ear plugs after trying foam and wax earplugs which hurt I paid ?200 at a Harley street specialist for a custom made pair of ear plugs BUT the problem with all ear plugs even ?200 custom ones is after four hours or so my ears begin to ache the pain become unbearable and it?s the pain from the ear plugs that wakes me up before the 4am flights so unfortunately they are not a solution. I?ve also tried white noise machines but they don?t block out the aircraft noise and they kept my O/H awake.
  25. Otta Seriously You know I'm not playing with the aircraft noise issue, it affects my life every day. I can?t see how comparing the denial of one thing to the denial of another thing is indirectly comparing those two things. If that were the case no one would ever compare anything for fear of confusion. Comparing oil to water and saying they are liquids. Isn?t saying water is flammable like oil, or that water is clear and oil is black it?s just saying they are both liquids if that?s the comparison being made. So Comparing the thinking of holocaust deniers to the thinking of aircraft noise deniers. Is not the same as comparing the holocaust to aircraft noise not even close! If there were another suitable comparable I would have used it but I couldn't think of one at the time, I still can?t, can you? I had never heard the term birthers so wouldn't have used it, even now I don't think it?s a suitable term as few people know what a birther is, so it would have required further explanation, not good for comparison purposes. I don?t see any reason not to mention the Holocaust War Thatcher or anything else in a thread if it helps the conversation and adds to the debate. Unfortunately / Sadly in this instance the comparison has overshadowed the conversation as some readers bizarrely view any mention of the holocaust as politically incorrect and see it as a taboo subject. Is it taboo? It?s not like a cartoon of Allah is it? If you or anyone else is offended by my holocaust denier?s comparison then you are offended through choice, not by me! Agreed facts are facts. Very annoying when others deny the facts.
