Are you sure they were 'stolen' and not just taken - assumed to be no longer wanted? I often leave no longer required items outside the front of the house so that if anyone else can use them they can take them. Maybe put a note up on your gate explaining they were left out unintentionally and you might just be lucky and have them returned. Then again.....
