  1. would you consider trapping and getting him neutered? It would most likely reduce these behaviours that seem to be affecting you and others in the neighbourhood. It would also be better for his health particularly if he's fighting. A male cat can be neutered and released on the same day, they won't have stitches and recover really quickly. I would imagine Celia Hammond can provide a trap. My guess is the owners (if he has any) won't give a cr*p about your sleep if they don't care enough to be responsible in a very basic way about their pet. I've done a mini TNR for a few stray cats where I used to live and it greatly improved cat relations.
  2. Another recommendation for Lee. We had him round to do a couple of small jobs like fitting isolation valves and addressing some water hammering with our new washing machine. He was very helpful and a really nice, trustworthy person to deal with. We will be getting him back to do some more jobs in the near future after this positive experience.
  3. Turned up at a neighbours house yesterday. Our cat Ellie escaped from the first floor window on Monday night (2nd July). We live on Daniels road in Nunhead, right opposite the entrance to Nunhead cemetary on Linden Grove. She's been an indoor cat the past 4 years and hasn't been outside since we moved here. She has thyroid issues so takes medicine twice per day, her health will suffer without this. Personality - 16 yrs old but doesn't look it, loves people, quiet and trusting, doesn't like to be held but loves to be stroked. She won't sit in your lap but will lie on knees and shins. Very likely to seek out a human to feed/care for her as she did when she was a stray - Celia Hammond rescued her when she became ill. Identifying traits - she can't miaow because of throat surgery so it comes out like a raspy croaky miaow. Tabby fur with cream 'eyeliner', cream around her nose and chin, white whiskers, fluffy cream fur on her belly that is a bit droopy. Microchipped and neutered. Couple of videos of her uploaded to you tube > https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbbw5FOtfeQAti15vrWuZxA If anyone can recommend a reputable leaflet distribution company I would be grateful, we are desperate to get her back 07583632213 / 07412338041
  4. That's awful. Did you see the colour of the cat, it might help the owners identify if it's their missing cat.
  5. I don't think they scan for microchips and they are not easy to get a hold of to find out if they have found any dead cats matching your pets description. I speak from experience. The street cleaners I talked to said that if they found a dead cat they would just call for another specialised team but they weren't aware of any sort of record being kept of these animals. Its very annoying as I think the least they could do is scan the animal so its owners can be contacted via the microchip information. That is the point of having it afterall!
  6. its all here on this page. How to pay council tax You can pay online 24 hrs a day if you have a debit/credit card. I guess you can't pay at PayPoint locations as its not mentioned as being an option
  7. I left my bike there pretty much everyday during the summer as I took the train to work. I've even left it there a few times overnight and i still have it ! I would say its totally fine as long as you have a decent lock and a non-flashy bike. I use this one. http://www.evanscycles.com/products/kryptonite/kryptolok-series-2-d-lock-ec006262 Whenever I left it out on Blenheim Grove the gears would be messed about a bit, presumably by the kids who hang out around the hair shops there so I wouldn't recommend leaving it there all day. There are cctv cameras on either side and there's usually a staff member in the station foyer so perhaps that deters the bike thieves.
  8. katanita - I go to Waterloo as well and I take Southampton Way rather than going up near Peckham Hill Street, then turn into Wells Way, Albany Road and then into Portland Street to continue on your route. Its pretty quiet and I've had no problems doing that route. It may be an alternative for you if your Burgess Pk route is closed.
  9. My cat is lost and I have these numbers gathered together so they may help you find the owner: Vets - some keep lost books or will have notices up in their surgery Norwood Vets, West Norwood - 020 86713421 Brockwell Vets, Herne Hill - 020 33301029 Lordship Lane Vets - 020 86934677 John Hankinson New Cross Gate - 020 86923030 Highshore Vets, Peckham Rye - 020 78703166 Animal Charities - some keep databases of lost pets RSPCA - lost register 03001234999 or their 'Found Cat' page has some useful advice including paper collars that you can print out - [www.rspca.org.uk] The Blue Cross - 01993 822651 Battersea - 020 7627 9245 Celia Hammond Lewisham Branch - 02086912100 Websites: http://www.nationalpetregister.org/ http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/
  10. I've started buying these collars as they are much cheaper than having to get another id tag engraved as well as a new collar when it gets lost (too often). Puts my mind at ease that someone can contact me if they go missing, just had someone call me last week when my cat strayed a bit far from home. cat collar with built in phone number tag
  11. My husband witnessed your cat attack on Rye Lane Peckhamgatecrasher, have to admit I had a giggle picturing it! He's a real tough cookie that cat. Best of luck with the neutering. I've trapped and neutered a few feral Toms living around my area and it greatly improved the feline relations.
  12. I had replied to this last night but my message seems to have disappeared.. Anyways, another option could be Air BnB. I have used them in London and in the USA. Its a site where people can rent out rooms or their whole apt/house. There is one property in East Dulwich at ?55 per night http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16594 I like using this site as an alternative to hotels as you get more space, and its interesting getting to meet new people.
