Message me if you?d like a bagful of rocks to decorate, am more than happy to share the joy!!

More rocks being added this weekend! Have you found any yet?? Or better yet, have you added your own?

As you walk around Peckham Rye Park you may start finding small painted rocks about the place. Welcome to Peckham Rocks! You may have heard of the latest craze in decorating and hiding rocks around your local community. And so now to Peckham! Decorate some rocks, varnish them, and then take a walk around Peckham Rye Park hiding them and looking for others. When you find one, take a photo, upload it on the facebook page, and then hide it somewhere else for someone else to find. Happy stone hunting! Tip: Write Peckham Rocks and your name on the back so that people can trace where they are from should they start to migrate further afield.

I had my second six months ago in the pool in a box which was really great. I think ut must have been the mini one (no seat) but plenty big enough. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Also more than happy to do that coffee. K

Terrible pelvic girdle pain! Helped needed
blackkat replied to EllenaV's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh no! I had this from 22weeks and it's absolute agony, I really feel your pain. I found that neither physio nor painkillers helped at all either. After I'd had my baby I did meet a local osteopath from Crystal Palace who seemed very knowledgeable on the subject and said he could definitely help in case it happened next time. I'm afraid I don't have his details, but definitely worth phoning a few places and seeing if they can help. Unfortunately the best thing really is to rest as much as possible, impossible with a toddler, I know! Presumably you're using a plastic bag on your seats and car seat so as to be able to swizzle easier; lying on your side and pushing up from lying down; keeping your legs together as much as possible etc? Ask family and friends for lots of help - really bad cases have to use wheelchairs which you definitely want to avoid. I guess the small consolation is that it should vastly improve almost as soon as you give birth, so only two more weeks - hang in there, and good luck! -
reassurance needed about mixed gender siblings
blackkat replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry fl0wer! It seems I left the iPad where little fingers could tap and swipe and leave half messages... Oops! ;) Was reading this thread with interest as I have a 2yr old girl and am expecting again and am also in shock/ denial that it's a boy! For me its not bad memories/ experiences, it's just I have always assumed I would have two girls and (stupidly) never considered anything else! Wanted to see what people said about having one of each. Nice that there are some really positive messages out there :) Good luck hellosailor, hope you have the amazing time with your children that you deserve. -

I'm designing the new secondary school in Swanage. Very exciting. And a lovely place to go for site meetings!! Would be more than happy to ask the school team for recommendations of places to stay if you haven't found somewhere?

pools with slides- are there any left?
blackkat replied to ryedalema's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The Greenwich pool is open and has slides (at the Arches). Also the softplay there is fab! -
How about rubber, cork or bamboo flooring? All thin enough where they can be laid over your existing floor finish and taken up in a threshold to avoid trip hazard. Plenty of manufacturers to choose from, but as an example: http://www.ukflooringdirect.co.uk/Bamboo.htm For a chequer effect you could use a vinyl/ linoleum? Not the same, I know, but on the up-side it's warmer than tiles underfoot and easy to clean. All sorts of colours and patterns available: http://www.forbo-flooring.co.uk/For-Your-Home/Products/Linoleum/Marmoleum-design-elements/ You may be able to find the original tiles at a reclamation yard? They will all send samples for material choice and colour if you phone them. Have fun!

Breastfeeding Advice Please!
blackkat replied to buttercupSE11's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My LO ended up in ICU for a week and for various reasons they topped her up with formula (they provided it but said I could bring a different brand if I wanted, this was at Kings). As soon as we got out of hospital I managed to exclusively breastfeed. So even if you take it with you for any unforeseen circumstances it doesn't necessarily mean it will affect anything in the future. Good luck! -
I've got the Trinny&Susannah book and you're right, it isn't very obvious which category to fit into, but I leaned towards one (thinking i just liked the colours more than anything) and sure enough I've had several compliments when wearing green. So maybe there is some truth in it? More than welcome to borrow the book if you'd like a refresher?!

Anyone else had problems getting pregnant a second time? Will the Dr help at all if you've already had a baby? It took a year first time and it's been almost a year again so far. Not as frustrating this time because at least I have a beautiful little one to raise my spirits, just wondered if anyone has been through the same and has any advice? Acupuncture? Ta.

I did baby signing with my lo and had mixed emotions when she signed her first two word sentence of 'no milk'!! It was a week before her first birthday and she'd just started nursery where she'd been given been given cow's milk in a cup and presumably realised how much quicker and easier that was?? I was hoping to feed her for a bit longer, but like bouncy said at least I didn't have to feel bad about depriving her of anything! It's not at all wierd or selfish to want to keep going, good luck whichever way it goes :)

Try www.skifamille.co.uk who do Childcare included. Happy days!

We had two bikes stolen from our front garden yesterday. A lady's purple/pink mountainbike and a mens black mountainbike (with only 1 brake!). Neither of them in very good nick, but it took me a year to save for mine back in the day, so great sentimental value! Please let us know if you see abandoned or for sale bikes matching this description. Will upload a photo later if I can. Thanks ED folks.

Ideas on how to spend first birthday?
blackkat replied to kapaxiana's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Godstone farm (?5pp), Kensington Park (free), a city farm eg Surrey Docks Farm (?3 suggested donation) and London Zoo have all been big hits with us. For the zoo and the aquarium get the 241 tickets from trainline - even ?2 tickets from ED count :) Or just a day at the Horniman and Goose Green playpark! Have fun whatever you do :) -
Thanks Yak! I'm really struggling with post baby weight and still not fitting into my old clothes. Depressing. I did lose some weight over the summer but now it's dark and cold I'm finding the motivation to head out for long walks ebbing away. Any winter tips out there mums?

Help pelvic pain in pregnancy?!
blackkat replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My SPD was awful - I did get a physio appt at Kings (the midwife referred me and it didn't take long) though I couldn't actually do any of the exercises she gave me. Perhaps a more specialised physio can help, it sounds like it has worked for others. I had spd from 22 weeks and ended up using crutches, working from home and resting as much as humanly possible! The belt support is great, and keeping your knees together helps stop the shooting pain, and paracetamol (or similar from your Dr) when it's really bad. The good news is it has got so much better since having baby, though things like sitting on the floor are stil not great. Slightly nervous about having a second baby, though I know it's all worthwhile! Good luck! -
Agony feeding my baby - any advice?
blackkat replied to blackkat's topic in The Family Room Discussion
In case anyone else out there is suffering the same (blocked duct mastitis) - Lecithin has quite literally changed my life! I take it up to four times a day. The pain has only been back a few times when I've forgotten to take the lecithin, but even then it's not been to the same intensity. Such a relief!! :) -
Agony feeding my baby - any advice?
blackkat replied to blackkat's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks so much ladies. I've tried the BF clinic at Peckham - the midwife hadn't come across it before, gave me a book to read and wandered off to help a newborn. Then I called the BF helpline who said 'heat, massage, good luck, goodbye' before I even managed to tell her it's a recurring problem! GP said heat and massage and that's about it. Perhaps I will insist more next time, citing the example of referral helping sophiechristophy's friend. Thank goodness there's the forum to ask other mums! I don't think it's positioning as it's just one side, just since July, and I've tried every which way. I'll try lecithin or just using one side if/when it comes back :( And maybe a bra shopping trip?! JessB - I'm in exactly that cycle of 'I'll stop as soon as the blockage clears' to 'maybe I won't get it again'... It's so good to hear that yours stopped eventually, there is hope for me yet! Thanks again ladies. -
My baby is 5 months old and breastfeeding was fine for the first two months, but since then I've had a recurring pain every single week. I think it's probably a blocked duct and blister, but no-one I've spoken to has ever come across it coming back time and time again. I really want to continue feeding my baby but for two or three days of every week I am in tears with the pain :( I have tried massage, heat, poking the blister, turning baby to feed with chin towards the lump, starting feed on that side to completely drain it, not using that side at all, but nothing seems to help. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, did you manage to stop it coming back? I'm proud of myself for making it this far and would love to carry on feeding her for her full year, but really cannot do this anymore. Any help gratefully received, thanks mums.

I've not used them, but been recommended skifamille - despite the name they are Brit run with nannies etc. Have fun!

A bit late for this week (obviously!) but for next week - you could try the Ivydale Chidren's Centre. We went today and it was lovely. Lots of toys for the babies, and singing at the end. From 1:30- 3:15pm. Healthcare visitor was there today, sleep specialist next week. There's also bookstart plus at peckham library 10:30-12pm; Rhyme time at Dulwich Library at 11am; or Bessemer Grange Tiny Tumblers from 1pm. Can you tell I've been researching?! So many options, have fun!
