How exactly can "they" be taking the benefits too if they have taken all the jobs as you put it? -

I wouldnt say some are unemployable, no one is unemployable, they may not be able to get a job that they particularly like, but they can still get a job. Problem is there arent enough jobs to go around because of the screwed up economy, and the ones that are available for people with little or no skills are pretty hard working and therefore some would rather not do them. -

When a tennabt signs their tenancy agreement they are agreeing to Schedule 2 of the 1985 Housing Act. In the case of those that participated in the riots the relevant condition will usually read along the lines We might terminate your tenancy if you or a member of your household or a visitor does anything which causes, or is likely to cause a nuisance to anyone in the local area, or you allow your home to be used for immoral or illegal purposes The actions of the rioters constitute a nuisance in the local area and those who have looted shops and returned goods to their homes have allowed their homes to be used for immoral purposes. -

There is currently a provision for the eviction of council tennants in situations exactly like this, so that can do it if they want. i think that The Labour council in Greenwich are the first ones likely to push it through. Unlike some other unfounded, made up posts there does not need to be any change to the law as it stands. -

Not really Jeremy. Havent you heard we want to invite all of those lovely, pleasent rioters down to ED from all over Southwark as they come and see their probation officers. Maybe DJKQ could stand out in the street and give them cups of tea and cake, whilst rehabilitating them. Strange isnt it how teh otehr day you wanted to use water cannon and batons against these kids, and now want to invite them over for tea and crumpets- amazing what fear does to a person isnt it and how quickly they forget. -

Not really just looking for some indication that you understand that this isnt the bloody DJKillaQueen show- it s apublic forum where people will voice opinions, and that yours is not always right. Fair enough you have your own views but you have no right to try and bully people into accepting them, or be so ignorant to stand there and say that your views are the only right ones. It quite simple pi**es people off as has been proven today, again!!!! -

Just to be clear I dont think or am not suggesting that teh above is motivation for the riots, but instead can be used as justification in a rioters mind. Hearing senior politicians talk about the privaliged Tories who only represent the rich can only have a negative impact and hence lead to a rioter justifying his actions by saying that he is doing it to show the rich that he can do what he likes.

We were having a discussion in the pub last night on LL about the riots, and someone made a point that hadn?t occurred to me before, and one which I found rather interesting. Basically he said that Labour should be held partially accountable for these riots, as they have pretty much indirectly incited them in their negative political approach. Everything that the coalition have done, they have argued against and put down, but not offered any alternatives. All they talk about is no to cuts, but they know that cuts have to be made after the countries credit card was maxed out from overspending. Ed Milliband has done nothing positive, he has not offered any alternatives, or even policies to show what the Labour party would do if they were in power. All of the negativity that he and his party have created has had a knock on effect on the people that Labour claim to represent at their core- the working class and socially deprived. It has created anger and tension against the establishment and made people feel that cuts do not need to be made, because Labour say so. In fact I saw on the news on Tuesday night someone saying that this would never happen under Labour because they wouldn?t make cuts, so they should be brought back into power, which I thought was quite interesting perspective that the Labour party seem to have portrayed for themselves. Anyway I just thought it was an interesting point, not sure how founded I think it is, but it is certainly a point to consider. Maybe if British politics hadn?t turned so negative then maybe the feeling of unrest in Britain would not be as bad. I mean Labour have to admit that they would make cuts, maybe not as severely, but that cuts would have to be made and where they would make them. Dont get me wrong these cuts have hit the heart of Britain and the economy but maybe the way they are being discussed and used to score cheap political points is not serving the British people in the best way.

Drafting is pretty extreme, but one years conscription for all 17 year olds like they do in other countries such as Finland could be an option. There was a program a few years ago called bad lads army that I thought was really good. Maybe something like that can be set up on a national scale a) for kids under 16 who fail to attend school b) Kids aged between 13 and 18 who break the law c) Kids between 16 and 18 who potentially have left school but want to learn a trade or skill, and who otherwise dont have the opportunity to do so for one reason or another

Go on then put it in context for us all to see -
Sorry but I find the defense of "there are no summer activities for kids" an absolute joke, the fact is I never had any summer activities and the majority of people I know didnt either, but it didnt mean that that we hung around on street corners praying on individuals, because we were bored!!!! And frankly how what sort of kids are these that need to be "entertained" otherwise they will go out looting!!1 The fact is these kids are prepared to break the law, they have no respect for it, for authroity or other members of their communities, which is why they are quite happy wrecking their own high streets and areas. The cuts to youth clubs and activities ahve nothing to do with it, the types of kids who used these were the type of kids that wouldnt go out with the intention of commiting crimes, the nice kids.

Lets all do what the Liberals want- lets throw money at the situation because it makes us all feel better. Not that the failed billions that have been spent in the past years is anything to go by. Or in fact shall we just give them all new pairs of trainers, clothes, plasma screen tvs and PS3's as they have been so hard done by by the state- its a load of crap. The majority of these looters arent interested in education or getting decent jobs or moving up in the world, they are just angry young kids who are only interested in doing as little work as possible and still getting paid to do it. This country is seriously screwed up. If you actually listen to them they dont know why they are doing it, they are just sheep who are angry, angry because here you are expected to work if you want the nicer things in life, the luxuries, but these people dont want to do that, its to hard, but its alot easier to hang around in gangs preying on the people that do work hard and just taking what you want. Hell it seems a lot easier than my life. -
According to the times- Police in London were ordered to "stand and observe" rather than intervene or confront rioters, officers have told The Times (?). Their caution was said to be the result of a number of pending legal battles, where the Metropolitan Police is being sued for its public order tactics.
