  1. I found yet another clothes item when clearing some overgropwn winter jasmine. Its a grey top that a very young girl would wear. My neighbour told me the foxes left a large bone in their garden, and that they are getting in through a hole in the fence. In my garden there was a hole filled up under a tree that had been theri route in.They have dug another hole to get into my garden under same elderflower tree!! No news about who these items belong to so I am going to donate them to my neighbour who does have a little girl aged about 3 and I think these would fit her. The others would fit her mum.
  2. A friend of mine had her purse stolen from her bag and got it back from a neighbour. The fox had spent none of the money and everything was still in her purse!!
  3. Not armed but banging on the patio door's glass making a racket
  4. Hi Everyone Just wanted to alert anyone who lost a few items from their washing line recently. Yesterday and today I found a total of 4 items. Anyone who lost 4 items please be prepared to describe what you lost! I have laundered everything. As I live in Oakhurst Grove they could have been brought by the foxes from Oakhurst Grove or Crystal Palace RD in my estimation. A young fox has been very active recently in my garden, including trying to break open an inspection cover to a drain, making so much noise it was unbelievable. i think this fox has now given up in that respect after threatening behaviour from my own gentle self!!
  5. Ah Now we know ! So they carry the cards but not the parcels. Thats no longer a decent service....
  6. Yes its entrance is in Tintagel Crescent. I can walk there and do.
  7. Personally I am in favour because there is a van business owner who takes a liberty and has often taken up all the available parking spaces on my street ( Oakhurst Gr) so I would welcome a parking permit system and would personally prefer it to be limited to the middle of the day eg 12-2 on my particular street which seems to be a practical excluder of those who would otherwise take unfair advantage. Quite often if I come back from a rehearsal at about 10.30pm I have to park quite a long way away often in other streets not adjacent even to Oakhurst. There is restricted parking on Lordship Lane anyway, but on Northcross RD it is both business and residential. Most people using those shops can walk there as they walk to the Saturday market there so I would suggest all this is taken into consideration. I use my car for evening rehearsals and concerts, and for my getting to my Saturday music teaching at elephant but otherwise I use public transport during the week to get to my various music teaching jobs. When I exit from either East Dulwich or Peckham rye, it seems to me that most people are walking home and not just getting into a car.
  8. No I don't think so but will check Thats the most useful clue do far so thanks Sue
  9. NextDoor is something started in the US trying to be something like the ED forum, but mostly people just ask for recommendations for various trades people. Not as varied or wide ranging as the ED forum.
  10. My next door neighbour s got married late in life and had their sit down reception in that lovely place on Gallery Rd, can't remember the name at the moment. Belair I think .
  11. I think you jet have to get on the waiting list and wait for one to become available
  12. The only one I've seen is the one that came through our communal letterbox.I thought of leafletting all houses in my street to let them know that if they received one it definitely was not from me and it does not say my house number. So Id say that was not spoof but was via Next Door east Dulwich, and there was only one to the people in the top flat, the people in the middle flat did not get one.
  13. The card inside the envelope says " please join your neighbours on Nextdoor." -Sue Klein , Oakhurst Grove The card has all the nextdoor logos, houses and tiny trees The envelope itself says From: Sue Klein Oakhurst Grove East Dulwich London
  14. Dear East Dulwich Residents and East Dulwich Forum users, I need to alert you to the fact that Next Door East Dulwich have been sending out cards in envelopes with MY NAME : SUE KLEIN on the outside of the envelope . I DID NOT INSTIGATE THIS SENDING OUT OF ADVERTISING MATERIAL USING MY NAME, and can only apologise to you for you having been bothered by unscrupulous organisers of the NEXT DOOR group.
  15. I haven't received any info about this through my letterbox, and couldn't attend the meeting as i was away for work.
  16. I had no problem with my virgin broadband but my landline phone was dead for three days , second time in 6 months. The Virgin engineer informed me that it is a problem with rats getting into the underground cable housings, and that they have all been alerted to Weils disease and issued with rubber gloves for their own protection. It seemed unbelievable at the time ......but .... maybe?
  17. I have an iPhone with o2 and am in Oakhurst Grove. Signal so good I wish it wasn't. but them I'm a luddite and also electro- sensitive
  18. Rye Lane is often so crowded with pedestrians on the pavement, that I have found myself walking in the road simply to get to where I have to go - dentist or station.I certainly had not noticed any dedicated cycle routes in Rye Lane. I don't know why they can't be more clearly marked, as they certainly should and are elsewhere.
  19. What about the French Restaurant on lordship Lane which has been there for donkeys years?
  20. I want to recommend Sean of Dulwich. He fixed a leaking roof on an old external loo for me, that was making an internal wall in my adjoining conservatory wet , and did it in the most sensible and straightforward way , just what was necessary and nothing that was not necessary. I highly recommend him. He also removed damaged plaster and re-renedered the wall. I normally contact him via this site but will be able to post his new number soon.
  21. I suggest any one with a flat in a terraced house with a side gate, should put some ( a lot of) barbed wire on top of the gate, or get a new side gate which is very high , paint it with anti-climb paint on both sides, and put barbed wire on top as the icing on the cake.... That might deter the burglars who are casing this street. Best wishes Sue
  22. I agree, and I've watched it since 1987
  23. Did anyone get an email recently from first utility suggesting that their monthly direct debit would have to go up because of a massive overspend? I did. They had emailed me that I would have overspent by over ?300 by the end of last month and proposed raising my DD by 60% . I rang them and got a different story. It was a mistake, I was about ?20 IN CREDIT and they had already taken one increased DD. So they have promised to restore my DD amount to the original. Just wondered of anyone had a similar story.
  24. Peckhamheadwich
  25. Planning permission stage for ED has passed so we should be getting a 3 cinema Picture House in Lordship lane. Just think , instead of driving to Peckham or Brixton we will be able to walk to the local cinema.! I just wish and hope they'll pay all their employees a decent living wage.
