  1. A few verses taken from another of my favourites by Shelley. Always stirs my blood when I read this. 'Men of England, heirs of Glory, Heroes of unwritten story, Nurslings of one mighty Mother, Hopes of her, and one another; 'Rise like Lions after slumber In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you - Ye are many - they are few. 'What is Freedom? - ye can tell That which slavery is, too well - For its very name has grown To an echo of your own. 'Tis to work and have such pay As just keeps life from day to day In your limbs, as in a cell For the tyrants' use to dwell,
  2. Penalties given or not, offsides given or not, I'd say there was definitely a touch of Karma about last night. Still I don't give a shit who wins it.
  3. Thanks for that, it's perfect.
  4. My sons tutor, who is studying Drama at secondary school, has recommended that he go along to see a Bertolt Brecht play, or a production using Brechts techniques. Any ideas people?
  5. I think the point is being missed here. I have no respect for people who come from say Portsmouth, and support the like od Man Ure. I met such a person on holiday and couldn't believe it whne he told me that he was born and raised in Pompey but supported the mancs. What a spanner. I took great delight in telling him how I felt when we got on to the subject of who we supported.

The way you measure passion is that you support your club through thick and thin regardless of success, and you actually go to watch them as often as you can, home and away. That is a very easy and accurate way to measure how you feel about your team. I've been watching the Arsenal, home and away, since 1968. In the 1980's we were crap, but I stll went and stood on the North Bank on a wet Tuesday night in November watching a 4th round Rumbelows Cup tie, against the likes of Bournemouth, with no expectation of winning. That is loyalty and passion.

I can't make up my mind if you're stupid or naive. I hate people, not you personally, that support teams just for the glory, which proves your type has no soul, no heart and more importantly no passion. It has nothing to do with success, you sad fool, it is to do with loyalty, passion and heart for your club. But Man Ure followers have none of those attributes. Jog on.

As I've said on many ocassions, there is only one club in Manchester and it ain't Man ure it's City. Keep up the glory hunting it gives true fans something to despise. ;-)

I can't be bothered to "keep up" with glory hunters like you. I remember people like you when I was a kid, you'd see them in the shirt of whoever was doing well that year. So now run along and try not to be bullied by the big boys in the playground, because you'll only come running home to mummy in tears, saying "mum tell them to stop saying such nasty things about my team".

I see you're home teams, you know, the ones you should support, Birmingham and Villa did better than Man Ure at the weekend!!!
  12. This sort of encapsulates my view of life, I absolutely love it. D H Lawrence A sane revolution If you make a revolution, make it for fun, don't make it in ghastly seriousness, don't do it in deadly earnest, do it for fun. Don't do it because you hate people, do it just to spit in their eye. Don't do it for the money, do it and be damned to the money. Don't do it for equality, do it because we've got too much equality and it would be fun to upset the apple-cart and see which way the apples would go a-rolling. Don't do it for the working classes. Do it so that we can all of us be little aristocracies on our own and kick our heels like jolly escaped asses. Don't do it, anyhow, for international Labour. Labour is the one thing a man has had too much of. Let's abolish labour, let's have done with labouring! Work can be fun, and men can enjoy it; then it's not labour. Let's have it so! Let's make a revolution for fun!
  13. And Man Ure having fisty cuffs with Chavski ground staff. Are the Mancs about to implode?? Surely nobody wants to see that happen to such a lovely bunch of people!!!;-)
  14. Sir Fergusmoan having a rant about a penalty eh? Well fancy that, just so out of character for him isn't it? >:D

As for England, I think you'll find there are a number of supporters across the land who care more for their club side than they do for the national side, and that includes me. If you want to support another club other than your own in a cup competition, fine. I just can't bring myself to do it, and again, there are many, many more like me.

As for your history, again you have have grasped the wrong end of the stick, unless of course your club has changed its name to SPURS, which is the club I was digging at. Where's that famous scouse sense of humour?
  25. Ah, such wit!!! How about 61, never again? Or if you prefer 71, 2004, 71, 2004. Or Double, Double, Double, Sol Campbell has won the double.Or......shall I carry on singing the praises of the Carling Cup winning colossus that is Spurs????
