  1. And the guys at Plant Nation always help me sort the saddle on my bike out ! Don't forget Paul by the Harvester. He stocks loads of plants and can source stuff if you ask him. He is really helpful and a nice bloke. We get loads of stuff for our school from him.
  2. Welcome to East Dulwich ! We have lived just off Northcross Road for over 10 years and very happy . All the roads around here are great location wise but pretty dreadful for parking outside your own door - basically you can't. But hey- you get used to it and it's lovely strolling to the shops in a matter of seconds . (My partner often goes to get the papers with a coat on over his pyjamas much to our daughters mortification- but we're also handy for the Maudsley as well so he just looks like he's on day release ) Happy hunting ! ps. Have never met David_Carnell but he has exquisite taste football-wise so he sounds jolly nice.
  3. Graham Parker and the Rumour, Leeds Uni. !979
  4. Tuesday 20 Nov The butcher in W Rose was very patient when I asked him to explain the difference between rump steak and stewing steak (I live with too many veggies). Had a nice chat with the Moxons man about tuna. Waved at Chris in Pretty Traditonal Bought some cards in Greetings . (Fellow Leeds fan- discussed the Hereford match ) Felt like I should be wearing a crinoline !! I love having Tuesdays off work so I can do my Duchess of East Dulwich act when everyone else is at work....
  5. And Leeds got knocked out of the Cup by Hereford on Tuesday night. What a week..... Still....Marching on together
  6. Sean you seem more like a Private Eye kind of person to me
  7. Not to mention bowel/testicular cancer
  8. A lot of the 8/9 yesar old boys at school are collecting the red bands and making big bouncy balls with them. Who needs a wii for Christmas when it's on the pavements for free ?
  9. Dec (or Ant ) "The phone lines are now closed. If you continue to phone you will be charged for the call...... "
  10. Agree about the amount of rudeness the staff at Budgens put up with. Try harder everyone ! I think the people at Dulwich D I Y are lovely and have always been incredibly helpful and friendly.(And they give out sweets at Christmas). I love their shop almost as much as A J Farmers.
  11. I can endorse that The Gardens is a very good Doctors' practice. There are 3 lovely women doctors and the handsome charismatic Dr Addo. *he's lovely*
  12. Hear hear. And East Dulwich is such a fab place to live that your kids will make great friends in which ever of the local schools they end up in.
  13. I bought a lovely purple shopping trolley in Barcelona a couple of years ago. My dears it holds vast amounts of shopping and looks fantastic ]*apparently you can buy the same trolley In lewisham market*
  14. Hurrah ! Just collected parcel from Silvester Road sorting office. Posted 30 October first class from somewhere or other in London. Arrived 16th November into our own very special corner of London. Wonder where it's been in the meantime...... P S I have always found the guys at Silvester Road very friendly and helpful.
  15. Yes, it's great being a local teacher and working really hard all day. Then you come back from school and someone with some kind of axe to grind is slagging your school off and being rather nasty about people you work with ........
  16. We came back late one night recently from the airport with our 3 kids asleep in the car. We parked outside the 7/11 on Northcross Road so that my partner could nip in and buy a pint of milk. 3 charmless city drunkards came along and scooped up loads of apples and started throwing them (very hard) down the backs of peoples houses on Nutfield Road, aimimg at the windows. They saw me in the car watching (a little aghast-it was early hours and they were throwing the apples extremely hard). Get this- then they started throwing the apples at our windscreen ! Niiice. I got out of the car to remonstrate, telling them I had sleeping kids in the car. They told me to f**k off and jumped into a cab laughing. Partner returns with milk oblivious. I was so gob smacked I didn't even tell him. I didn't think he'd believe me......it was so surreal.

(But doesn't he support Sheffield Utd ?) I'm in awe of any one who could get to 50 without a dictionary. We had a go last night and were defeated by 45 . (My dad was a latin teacher so I like to think I'm good with words...I obviously aren't.....I'm off to have another go right now !} Well done SimonM is what I really meant to say. P S My dad would also have corrected my grammar in the above sentence.

Did you use a dictionary ???
  19. Reminds me of my friend in Tatton being doorstepped by David Soul in the election when he was campaigning for Martin Bell. (At least I hope it was Martin Bell and not Neil Hamilton)
  20. Went in by chance this morning- didn't realise it was the first day- friendly staff, lovely coffee. Fantastic views across the Rye. I told her to check her progress through the EDF !
  21. I always like the names Crystal Clear and Snorky. (Snorky reminds me of the Banana Splits which I used to love watching when I was a kid.) I thought it was funny when Crystal changed his name to Fear n' boozin. I never thought he was a girl......
  22. I think it's called something else now but it's in the same place.
  23. Just got back from lovely drink at Montpellier. Screen rolled up so no one watching football. Depeche Mode playing (bit too loud but I am geting on a bit). We didn't eat but food looked good (and an alternative to Bar Storey and Peckham Experiment).
  24. Sorry EDA. I thought you were David Carnell !
  25. My mum has a lovely photo of Eddie Grey and my 3 brothers with the F A Cup when Leeds won it in 1972. He used to go to our church. What a hero ! (And Terry Yorath used to go the bookies with my dad but I think that was a little less wholesome) David you are right about keeping the faith of course- Marching on Together....
