  1. How about a good old spider plant ?
  2. I LOVE Gary McAllister. Him and Gary Speed. Good luck Gary. Let's start by stuffing Southend tonight Shall we start the Dennis Wise/Dave Bassett backlash ???
  3. Then they have to learn to negociate.
  4. Forgot to say- my mum works in a charity shop up north and if they get anything they think may be worth a decent amount of money they send the item to the head office and it goes on e bay and then more money made for said charity. Maybe that happens round here too.
  5. Give them a break. I can't bear the tone of some of this thread. I personally am not bothered if the staff take home a few bits and pieces that people are chucking out. They are volunteers in the main . Good luck to them and thanks for giving up their time which most people reading these posts would never be unselfish enough to do. Just give money directly to St Christopher's Hospice if you feel the charity is being hard done to. I bet we all know someone who has been treated there.

    Screaming kids

Nero - I am not stalking you (honestly) but by strange coincidence I was parked outside-ish yr house waiting for my daughter to come out of school last night. A young woman was pushing a double buggy along with twins in and went inside with the house. I may be wrong but I got the impression that they were a lot lot younger than three. Maybe wrong house altogether. Maybe wrong twins altogether. Or maybe it feels like they've been there for 3 years because of all the racket but actually they are only 18 months /2 ??? Any thoughts? ps I know Edori which is why I know(ish) where you live !
  7. Henry- please let us know if you hear if they've been caught. I am feeling very angry on behalf of all of our innocent families/friends who are being victimized in this way.
  8. Well as it happens I know the mother of one of the victims from the previous mugging mentioned so I will of course talk to her. Thanks for keepig a look out everyone.
  9. Two older teenage girls followed two 13/14 year olds from the 176 bus at the stop by the co-op chemist on Lordship Lane tonight. They went along LL and up Hansler Road to a house opposite Dell Autos. They prevented the two younger girls from going into the house and threatened them with a shoe, being hit and demanded their phones. The two younger girls saw a woman in a red and white coat nearby and asked for help. She started to come over, and one of the attackers thumped one of the younger girls full in the face twice before running off down to Lordship Lane. The police came straight away and are taking this very seriously. Did anyone see/hear anything??? Are you the Good Samaritan in the red coat who helped chase off these pathetic cowards ? (THANK YOU ) If you have any info please send me a pm. One of the victims was my daughter. These 2 attackers had been causing trouble on the bus. Hopefully the CCTV was switched on. Descripton- 1 black girl, medium height. 1 mixed race girl taller wearing dark blue track suit with pink stripes and a light blue comb in her hair. We must look after each other round here. Please don't look the other way if you see children in trouble.Thank you.
  10. Amanda- go and talk to Jane who works in the garden at Gumboots Nursery on Crystal Palace Road. They had chickens there for quite a while before foxes / bird flu scares/vandals took their toll. She knows a lot and talks a lot of sense. Good luck !
  11. Or recycle last years cards and send them !
  12. Not directly on topic (but the owners currently live in East Dulwich and have done for years) Bookseller Crow in Crystal Palace is a fantastic independent bookshop-lovely staff and extremly knowledgeable. Try them if you are up that way ,or even if you are not go and try them anyway.
  13. Yes it is- there's a whole piece on Lorenzo's oil on the ALD website www.aldlife.org/
  14. Sorry - website is www.aldlife.org/
  15. ALD stands for adrenoleukodystrophy which is a life threatening genetic disorder, normally affecting males . Log on to www.aldlife.org.uk to find out more. It is an incredibly worthwhile charity and as I said before has a direct relevance to families living in East Dulwich so it would be an ideal charity for members of the forum to support. You may see collection boxes in some shops in East Dulwich and there is an ALD charity shop in Penge , opposite Sainsburys.
  16. A really good local charity is ALD Life - sorry can't provide link but local family run charity- have ALD shop in Penge but son afflicted with ALD lives in East Dulwich -ex Goodrich pupil---really really worthwhile charity to support. Good Luck with your carols. Sorry I can't join in. Have got badly sprained ankle after slipping on train platform last week....
  17. We lived in Brixton for 5 years and I never set foot in East Dulwich for all of that time (no tube !). Then we had a baby in 1994 and someone told me that you could go to a shop in a place called Lordship Lane that sold maternity bras. That was Hey Diddle Diddle (corner of Hansler and LL). We had a coffee in the Blue Mountain and the rest dear readers is history........
  18. Did anyone ever have their hair cut at Molly's on Northcross Road ?(opp Emily's fish Bar) I had just had my first baby (Molly) when the hairdressers closed down. The signage from the shop (swirly writing and a woman's head) is now rusting nicely at the bottom of our garden.
  19. Dear DM Private schools always have too early nativities because they finish school by about Dec 14th or something mad like that. If you don't pay then the schools (in Southwark anyway) keep the lovelies until Dec 21st and so everything is a week later! NB New parents- the more you pay the less time they are in school !!! ps We are getting our tree on Dec 15th weekend.
  20. I had a very pleasant hour at the fair and bought my partner a Christmas present which I know he will be pleased with. My daughter got some lemon curd from the W I and she was happy too. Monica- I know you have worked tirelessly to organise the fair so thumbs down to whingers with nothing constructive to say. (cf Observr today - another new survey saying don't hang out with whingers -they bring you down ........der) BUT I then blew it and congratulated Fear n Loathin on his recent marriage because I thought he was Keef !!!! MANY apologies Matt if your woman friend then thought you had a guilty secret...... Has anyone else accosted someone they think they know from the forum and just said something embarassing and just WRONG ???
  21. Yes of course you are both right. I just needed to tell a few friends.
  22. I'm going to bury this in the middle of this thread but I need to reveal...........disgraced Peter Watt is my cousin !!!(haven't seen him for 20 years but he was lovely when I went to stay with his mum and dad way back then. Leeds to Poole was a journey too far in the late 70's). I only realised when I saw him on the news last night. I know I'm biased but his family were LOVELY. They used to foster loads of kids, despite having 7 of their own. Funny how news takes a different slant when you have a family interest....I'm sure he isn't really an idiot or evil.how can he be ?? we share genes !!!! off my chest..now shoot me down.....
  23. It's a BBC drama- I thought it was Crimewatch but apparently not. Saw Timothy Spall driving down LL this afternoon in a learner driver car with a guitar sticking out of roof.
  24. I love Andrew Marr
  25. There's nowt wrong with a regional accent luv. East Dulwich is all the richer for us folk from up t' north. (Just can't say carrrrstle or barrrrth but most folks is reet kindly and lets us off like)
