I might just might peep in on the 16th-I live in the next street but we are going to a gig (shock) in Brixton (shock)- first one for 2 years so will have to spend several hours in make up................I'm trying to remember if they have chairs at the Academy these days and if they still serve chips........

Yes Dog Kennel Hill has excellent reputation. Your nearest school is Goose Green so do visit and see what your impressions are. My daughter went to Nursey there (9 years ago now, sigh, ) and had a very positive experience. No idea what it is like now. But look at both and don't listen to gossip from people who have never set foot inside either of them! Good luck and welcome to ED!

I politely asked a gentleman of advancing years if he would pick up his dogs ,ahem ,cables as they had parked them right outside the gates of Goodrich School. I gently (yes gently dear readers ) pointed out that the school had 700 pupils and look ,some of them were approaching back from an outing this very minute......... " Ive had a dog for 50 years and i'm not going to start picking it up now" (paraphrase) "YOU ARE AN IGNORANT OLD MAN THEN" (not very gently) Exit stage left and right

Just to add to the mix- Goodrich has a new Headteacher as of Jan 2007.

I think the site was formerly the lower site for Waverly Girls School. A couple of years ago an Academy (now in Bermondsey-can't remember its name) used the site temporarily whilst their school was being built. They had a load of prefabs up but you could only attend the school if you lived near Bermondsey where the school would end up and not if you were a local resident in ED. There has been lots of debate in the last few years over Waverley Girls (now Harris) becoming mixed because of the paucity of provision for boys in the area. A campaign group called EDEN had been in talks with Southwark and Waverley Governing body about changing the school constitution and allowing boys in but having a separate site to teach them in (a la Askes). This is where I am unclear bit I think that now deserted site had a fire or it is still unfit for purpose but where to put any boys ended in fiasco several moonths ago when it was decreed that another site (near Bredinghurst school Stuart Road) was declared unsafe for all health and safety wise-the boys school has been put on hold until 2009 whilst everyone blames everyone else and local boys miss out. Lots of parents of boys in the area had already been told that the boys school would be up and running this Sept 2007 and then they were let down.........secondary transfer round here is stressful enough as it is. Letters went out about schools 2 days ago and it will doubtless come out in the local news this week how many disappointed parents (of boys especially)there will be in the Friern Road area ..... ANY SECONDARY TRANSFER STORIES OUT THERE?? Would make an interesting new thread......

Dear mr mikewbate you did the right thing.I am never going into the Bm again on a Sat- it was a nightmare. I now have bad headache and am going for a lie down. I recommend Jacks on pellat Road for off peak coffee8uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu9i ( sorry my cat just walked across keyboard) ps sorry don't think I spotted DM in BM either. Too many fragrant ladies!!!

Sorry but no- Chener books is RUBBISH and we deserve a better bookshop in ED. If we had say, Crow on the Hill ( excellent bookshop Crystal Palace) on L Lane ED would be much better off.

Monica- I looked , then squinted (wearing my driving glasses),then shouted through my car window "East Dulwich Forum ?????" Then I went all pink because just for a split second our spy friend realised his cover had been blown and looked as though he was going to deny me 3 times. Thankfully, he graciously acknowledged me and I drove happily round our beloved roundabout safe in the knowledge that ED will be a safer place with Mr Mikewbate patrolling the streets.......
