  1. R I P Bob Woolmer. I got his autograph at Headingley years ago . Another child hood hero bites the dust......
  2. Yes! Next..........
  3. Very nice to meet (albeit briefly) Ms Georgia and partner, Mr CrystalClear, Mr Piers and Lol, and Mr Mark. Nice not to meet the racist Canadian...... ps. Arcade Fire were fantastic ! Shame about the cricket which bought us down to earth when we watched the lowlights afterwards.......
  4. on the post pub trolley dash?? Go for it!!!
  5. I've just contacted Richard Thomas about lack of lollipop person on Barry Road/Goodrich Road. If anyone else on the forum has kids that use that crossing then please put pressure on schools and local councillors to find out why there is no one there. Lovely Fred retired and has not been replaced. There was an accident at the crossing at 8.45 this morning as loads of kids were going to school.Bit scarey.
  6. My vote goes to Itsu - nice food and hint of danger
  7. did anyone try the sushi from the friday stall on northcross road a while back?
  8. I have told my kids not to tell my mum that they like suchi. ....... her eyeballs nearly swivelled out of her head and she snorted for a full 10 minutes when I let slip that we try and eat organic fruit and veg......she keeps trying to make me buy bottles of mulled wine from Aldi even though she knows I have a perfectly wonderful Delia Smith recipe that only takes several hours to make...... shall we rename this thread damn those pesky mothers ...... ps i am a fan of steve biddulph books too although I think he would get on my nerves if I ever met him.
  9. It's so hard isn't it- I took my mum to the Blue Mountain and she asked them if they had any Nescafe because she "doesn't like the frothy stuff". Aren't parents embarassing.
  10. But will it serve coffee?
  11. How about a ?99 shop?
  12. I am going on friday night. Enjoy! let's compare notes after....
  13. There's one on Lewisham High Street
  14. Exactly where did you see Harry Carpenter? Definitely one for the observer book of celebs.
  15. I am annoyed by all of them already and by that danny presenter person. The scottish anarchist needs a thump.lucinda should stop accessorizing so much.the bloke from leeds is doing my head in!
  16. Dear Dulwichmum. Been missing you too! Sadly I think everyone else has probably been having what we term "a good old Saturday night knees up" whilst you and I have been instructing our young ones and catching up with our household chores........ (unless mr mikewbate hass been too busy planting up his balcony in preparation for evening drinks now that spring is springing.....) It's a lovely morning! The birds are chirruping, sun filtering through clouds etc etc. Get up everyone!
  17. *looks for reading glasses* *pours tea into saucer when no one looking (thanks Dulwich mum)* wonders if there are any arrowroot biscuits left in the tin....... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz *glasses gently fall off head onto nose*
  18. gets large bag of wool out to unravel as gentleman have all retired for the evening *sigh* will these long evenings ever be light again?
  19. just finished instance of the fingerpost . thought it was excellent highly recommended.
  20. Ok Mr Mikewbate Hope youv'e finished in the bathroom. I am going to have to give up the forum for the rest of lent, it's all getting a bit much for me..... Here's some ideas for your balcony-bay tree v nice esp. if you can get clipped/shaped- depends on your budget of course. Other good herbs-coriander,(easy from seed or split up one of those carton thingys from sainsburys), mint great but keep on its own as will take over pot ,thyme, rosemary and parsley all good and well behaved but quite low lying. What about potatoes in large pot (or stacked tyres works well)-right time to plant potatoes now. getting late to sew tomato seeds but you can buy mini pots and plant soon. Need lots of water and food so if you go away they will need looking after if dry spell. Other stuff that's good in containers: cannas, pelargoniums, agapanthus, osteospermum, fuchsias (flowering) loads of grasses choisya, daphne, viburnum, mimosa, skimmia (shrubs, some with fragrant flowers) east street market is ok for plants on sundays - columbia road mad but fab so go early! local garden centres expensive but ok. got to go! good luck and enjoy....
  21. Yes Mr Huguenot- loved those Robertson Davies trilogies- a great read. Senor Vivo and the Coca Lord though upset me- too much graphic imagery. Anyone read A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole? Really excellent and very funny. For people who like football try The Damned United by David Pears (Pearce?)- the Shakespearean tragedy that was Brian Clough. It's still in hard back but I am very kind and will lend it to any fellow forum user to read in our cosy new lounge ....
  22. clare

    mmmmmmm

Would we argue over music though ? I must admit I have never heard of most of everyone's favourite listens..... Please ease off the difficult jazz....
  23. Herby as in you can eat it (or smoke it?) Now for the technical bit....... Do you get any sun and what time of day??? Is it windy? (the balcony not you) Do you like flowers? Smell? (sorry fragrance) Do you want climbers? Go Mr Mikewbate...you have all afternoon to answer. I MUST go and do some work!
  24. How about a Garden Lounge area? Then those of us who like to scrabble around in the soil can have a great forum for flower talk........ (I can hear the collective groan of the under 30's.... or am I being appallingly ageist? ) Hurrah for ED and all our differing interests. Arcade fire and clematis armandii..beautiful combination. And it's sunny outside !!! I'm going off to commune with my crocuses (croci ? no ) skinny latte with almond croissant and a nice herbaceous border please.....
  25. Do you mean Mr Strange in R*l*ns ???? He is so wierd. Is he a cult member do you think? He is the most pedantic irritating person and is SO patronising.....I try not to go in there if I can help it.
