  1. We have an open fireplace in our Edwardian house. Recently I've noticed the black tiles under the grate have started to break up and come away. Can anyone recommend someone who could replace these? I contacted Dulwich Fire and Stoves by email but no one replied. Maybe they've now closed down? While we wait, do you think it would still be safe to have the occasional fire in this bleak weather? Thanks.
  2. Yes, thankfully. After twelve hours we found him at about six this morning. Thank you to anyone who was looking out for him.
  3. Our cat Leo was injured in a fight this morning and has been seen by a vet. However, this afternoon he managed to get into our back garden and we've not seen him since. This is very unlike him, especially as he is hindered by the cone as shown in one of these pictures. He rarely ventures beyond Solway Road, and we've checked everywhere in the road, and in people's gardens where we've been given access. We're particularly worried as he hasn't eaten or drunk anything all day and is probably quite weak. If you live in Solway Road or thereabouts we'd be so grateful if you'd keep an eye out for him. If you think you spot him please let us know on 07971 573667. Thanks.
  4. Thanks very much.
  5. Hi, I'm trying to find a way to delete my account here. Unfortunately when I go to My Control Center this doesn't seem to be an option. Can anyone help? Thanks
  6. If you ever need a great plumber I'd like to recommend Andy Burke (07983 688451). Andy has done two or three little jobs for us and he is always great. Arrives when he says he will, does the job quickly and is extremely fairly priced. I hope you consider using him.
  7. My neighbour couldn't remember much but she thought he was mid-30s, white and possibly with a small moustache.
  8. Recently we have had works undertaken on the frontage of our house in Solway Road. Today my neighbour, a woman in her seventies living alone, was called on by a man calling himself Barry Thompson who said he was a surveyor working on our house. He spun a story about having noticed damp in her attic and offered to take her to the bank to take out ?4000 as "a deposit" for some piece of equipment to deal with this problem. Needless to say the whole thing is a scam. We have not employed a surveyor and I can only think that having seen the scaffolding on our property he thought he would try to rob my neighbour of a large amount of money. I'm just writing this to warn other people and if anybody has an idea who this Barry Thompson is then let me know. The police have already been called. Thanks.
  9. In January this year ago my car was also broken into on Solway Road. I informed our local councillors about what even then seemed to be a recurring problem. Councillor Aubyn Grahame emailed me to say it would be raised with the neighbourhood community safety team and I asked him in reply to let me know what the outcome was. He never got back to me, so whether any action was ever taken remains a mystery.
