I have been working with David on and off for the last year and i can honestly say he is keeping me motivated and increasing my activity and ability all the time. Post an old injury i have not been very mobile. David is patient and knowledgeable and always finds a workaround if something doesn't work for me. I am very happy to recommend him.

Hi All, We used the german saturday school many years ago for our youngest son only. I am wondering if a 'playdate' with a german speaking teenager (17 years old) may be one way forward for your child/children to speak/hear/learn more German. He does babysitting locally and is in year 12 at a local school. He is not interested in formal language teaching but would be happy to play/look after your children - and speak in German to them at the same time. PM me for his contact details.

I can also recommend Norwood Roofing. David and Patrick replaced most of our guttering, de-mossed the roof and repointed a few bits in our brickwork. They were efficient, on time and finished the job very quickly to my complete satisfaction. I would be happy to use them again.

Can I assume you are doing the 'usual' touristy things as well? I have my 16 year old nephew here currently (from Germany) and he and the resident 17 year old have walked across tower bridge and around the tower. They went to Covent Garden and Oxford St to a number of shops - had decent lunches at yo-sushi and a bbq place. Apparently all good so far. He also likes the Natural History and Science Museum. Not interested in any art museums.

And towards the end of each term (or maybe half term) everything left was put out on tables in the reception area.

The childrens primary school had two large bins (with lids) - one for named lost property and one for unnamed stuff. Parents could go and 'dig' through mornings or after school.

Alleyns Junior School provide the info on their website. I would email the schools and ask for that information, surely they have got it.

A sports bag with London motive, a rucksack, a London shirt - hoody, a wash bag... I would not go with Lego anymore unless you know he is still into a specific type of Lego. Boys at that age could very well still love it or think they are 'too grown up' for it.

Have a look at Landsend - one of their coats/long jackets has kept me dry and warm by the side of many a field watching kids sports.

Have you looked at the school outfit/sports store 'Thomas' in West Dulwich? They are in the little parade of shops next to the book shop and I know they sell grey school trousers. Maybe they can help.

I used to HATE flying so we have been all over Europe on the train. There are sleepers - boys absolutely adored travelling on them...the whole of the continent is incredibly well connected. Hi speed trains exist in LOTS of locations and you can get absolutely anywhere you could want to go (ish). Have a look at man in seat 61 for travel tips. Location - Italy, all the way. Hotels with Pools, beach if you want, gorgeous villas, stuff to do and see. Austria if you like the mountains and lakes - Croatia, Slovenia... Berlin and the surrounding areas, very child friendly and lots to do. We even went to Sicily on the train - that was a LONG trip but you can break it lots of times (Milan, Rome...) and the train goes on the boat. As a whole! Seriously, travelling by train is a lot easier than you fear. Obv you have to think carefully what to pack but your kids are old enough to pull their own trolly suitcase. And you don't need much for the summer! I say go for it!

I don't know Nantucket but we went to Cape Cod last summer and it was really nice. Maybe that is an option? PM me if you want more details.

Laura did a great job in our garden last week and I can highly recommend her. She worked extremely hard and my garden looks amazing.

Have a look at Herne Hill. Very close to the hospital and excellent connections to central London. Also it has a new primary school, the "Judith Kerr' primary school. Best of luck!!
