  1. Silverware... Stalls that take amex cards.... Are we talking about the same market...?
  2. Grrr - Mrs Nutty got one yesterday for having half of one wheel on the kerb by Brockwell park. Had paid for pay and display space but as it was a low kerb hadn't noticed she'd not parked too neatly. ?120 fine under the "Parking on a public footway offence". Why do I get the feeling that this parking offence wasn't created for reasons like this?
  3. Personally - I've always found the food at bmc to be top notch, and have learned to live with the wait. Turn up with a Sunday paper and chill out - what's the rush people? If you want a quick breakfast I hear MacDonalds in Peckham have fast service :)

  5. They do absolutely fantastic ice-creams! Although the queue for them last weekend was huuuuuggggeeee

But in general I think their food/service/setting is worth it. I think there are a few posters on here who just haven't adjusted to the new "gentrified" ED restaurant prices.... No more pricey than equivalents in Clapham or in town (and not having to go into town for a good meal is a plus in my book!)

Yep - although it was a beautiful evening when we were there - sittig outside on a day like today wouldn't be so romantic :)

You may go to The Plough and win but you'll always know it doesn't really count because somewhere out there is a crack quiz team who can (and has) crushed you on a whim...
  9. Just had an absolutely top notch dinner there. Agreed it is a bit pricey, but tonight I was happy to pay a premium for sitting out in the evning sunshine. The service was attentive, food was well above any standard Italian as has been suggested earlier in this thread that this is. There is nowhere else in Dulwich you can sit outside in such a nice atmosphere and if it stays as busy as it was tonight it'll do well. Recommendations: calamario or antipasti starters, seafood lingiune or argentinian fillet mains. + a fantastic bottle of Pinot Noir. We'll be going back.
  10. :) Next Thursday looking unlikely due to availability - will post here when we're next out.
  11. We won over ?40 which seems a pretty good return - I don't think Hoopers keep any of the pot. "Also questions were asked about the fact that your lot seemed to have exactly the same wording for some of your answers as us. Coincidence or something more sinister?" Ha - that's brilliant - we spent most of the night getting annoyed with each other as we thought we were saying the answer too loud and have fallen foul (we suspect) in the past of what you are suggesting. Not a chance any of our team would do that. "the same wording" - give me an example... I think I've now worked out which team you were at least. I'll see what I can do re: Thursday but as most of us have "babysitting" issues too we don't make it down that often (which is nice for other quiz goers to get a chance at winning :)) Finally - something for you to peruse until we compete again...
  12. hmmmm - it would have been much easy to slate a quiz for being for dumbasses had you actually won. I don't think you even made it into the top two and kept quiet about who you were. Admittedly it was fairly childish of us to name our team "Not Jamma" but the purile pleasure of hearing Jamie finish the evening with... "..and the winners are 'Not Jamma'" ..was too good to pass up - if a little presumptious of us when naming our team at the start. Okay - when is the plough one - I'll try and raise the troops. I doubt there will be as many of us next time, a couple of extras just came along for a drink, the core team of four or so holds the brainpower. Don't get the comment about "bussing in folk from far away is frowned upon"?
  13. what restaurants do you like chocaholic? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,123396,123547#msg-123547 http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,117863,123388#msg-123388 http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,105896,106410#msg-106410
  14. why is chocaholic so angry with this place... double posting... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,110336,page=2
  15. You are assuming I'll make myself known to you at the pub (I might do if we win) :)
  16. Oh - I'm so looking forward to your decimation this evening.... be prepared to be taught a quizzing lesson...
  17. Tonight is the night - and it appears that Jamma is running scared....
  18. this seems to be the main three - wouldn't it be nice if there was a centralised place (on london elects for example) where each candidate put a 400 word summary of what they stand for.... http://www.shirleyhoughton.com/3164/11001.html http://carolinepidgeon.org/taxonomy/term/33 http://www.valshawcross.com/
  19. I see a list of candidates here... http://www.londonelects.org.uk/candidates/ls_candidates.aspx but not any literature about what they stand for?
  20. Is there any literature online about the local candidates? Know my vote for mayor but haven't seen anything about the local elections - nothing through the door even. Need some help to make up my mind!
  21. Just had to mention what a site it was Saturday the crowds of people standing out side muttering "I can't believe it" and "What a shame". I'm not exaggerating here - I walked past three of four times throughout the day and it was the same all day. They obviously have a multitude of happy regular customers (myself included) so here's hoping they get it sorted. I feel a little bit sorry for those who had parties booked etc as well...
  22. changed the name of this thread since it seems to be the central point for Pub Quiz gauntlet laying....
  23. Thursday is quiz night! maybe we'll switch to a weds for the our next meet up.
