  1. lozzy - like it! I think I may build some stocks outside so you can throw rubbish and sharp objects at me!
  2. expecting you all to throw eggs at me!
  3. How marvellous!
  4. Ted - I don't think of it in those terms. I look at a deal and based on a number of factors, and specific to that property, one can assess whether it is a good deal or not to be honest. However, as you quite rightly suggest, this isn't an exact science. If it was, I would be a rich man! I have to say - I try and pride myself on giving a service that is different to other agents. I know we have a bad rep, and I really do try and pleasantly surprise people!
  5. Macroban - Why would you wait until prices have risen again to purchase? Surely, if one can obtain the property they want at under market value, or at a reduced price, this is more appealing? No?
  6. The fact that prices have fallen and people are taking low offers!
  7. Cool, cool. Ok, I will stop going on about it and sounding like an old fart!!! Anyways, back to the housing market. I have to be honest, it is a very good time to buy at the moment. However, I thikn the media hype has really scared people off when there are still very, very good deals out there!
  8. Jesus you guys are harsh aren't you? So, with a 2.1 from Oxford, what should I be doing? I have friends with the same degree - some are working in PR, some in the army, a whole variety of things. Based on the thoughts here, should I feel stupid for not becoming a professor then?
  9. Forumites - My apologies if I seem up my own re my Oxford education. It is just something I am very proud of, and I think we all have to agree that when it comes to estate agents, this place is just a little hostile! When someone accuses me of being a failure for being an estate agent, I take offence!
  10. Keef - Nice to know someone likes me on here!
  11. I just take offence with comments like that from annaj. It is not really fair or kind is it?
  12. and I am assuming you didn't go there based on some comments on this forum.
  13. annaj - Some of us actually want to go to the best university in the country to LEARN - not just to get a job (if I was that way inclined I would have done business studies or media at the University of Nowehere. One thing that can never be taken away from people who have gone to these institutions - being taught by the best, in a historic city, and being surrounded by intelligent and forward thinking people. It reminds me of the idiots I sometimes meet who say 'you studied philosophy, what are you doing this job for?'. Unless you have been there you won't understand.
  14. Brendan - I have a 2.1 from Oxford University (yes, the real one), so no counting blocks needed for me thanks.
  15. Snorky - I don't understand your thinking. Why not try and buy something that WILL make money - it is the only way to climb the ladder...
  16. *Bob* - You speak much sense! I think the mass media scare tactics are really putting people off. I know so many people saying theyy are going to wait, and have been doing so for several years. At some point one must take the plunge!
  17. People still need houses and people still need to sell. Hence the fact that we are not all living in cardboard boxes just yet...
  18. Elisabeth - Good luck getting anything out of Tower Homes!
  19. Are you being serious? My friend lives there! Bloody hell!
  20. What does that mean Sean? The job is to sell property. You make it a home
  21. Unfortunately, people have become 'mini property experts' due to media/papers etc. I frequently hear people discuss 'market conditions' and 'property crash'. It's funny how the people who know most about property (i.e. buy to let investors), are buying by the truck load!
  22. please God don't let it be true! I will be in there after too many wines....
  23. I think it is one particular bird. If it is a mating call, then the poor bugger really needs some action. He has been at it for ages now! I have to say, though, sitting outside just a min ago with a coffee, it is so peaceful. I use to live on East Dulwich Road and that was really noisy!
