  1. My boss had ?800 quid removed from his bank account, and HSBC are being very difficult about it. Apparently it was done in Germany. Guess what? He had used the Texaco garage!
  2. It is really nice in there - had a very tasty sandwich and coffe is great. One of the waitresses is gorgeous too!
  3. Sean/Jamma - What are you on about? Am I not allowed to start another thread then? Surely if I had added it to another I would have been accused of treating all instances as the same? Also, I didn't put it on ago as it happened to my brother, so wasn't up to me to put it on here without asking him. He only became aware of the forum recently - hence I put it on now. ''We're on a media-led merry-go-round folks, they'll move on from knife crime soon enough'' ...........perhaps, but should we not voice our concerns on here then, for fear of adding to 'hysteria'. Dear me.
  4. I find the following comment laughable: As a member of society we have an > obligation to look after those more unfortunate > than ourselves. > Yes, to a certain extend, we are. However, by 'look after' do you mean hand over my wallet, phone, and car keys, and say 'thanks for not stabbing me, on your way now'. Please. I think if a relative/friend of yours was attacked, your somewhat altruistic attitude may change somewhat.
  5. Rose - I know what you mean. My friend said to me she no longer walks home to Mamora Road anymore - she gets a cab. Sad really.
  6. But it is not really about the 50p is it? It is their way of saying 'we are in control here - so do as we say'. I understand it is often better to just give in to avoid being hurt, but where do we draw the line?
  7. This happened a month or so back, and given the current climate, thought I would put it on here. I was buying some wine with my brother in the newsagent near Locale near Goose Green. I was at the end of the shop and my brother was buying some cigarettes. A guy came in and asked him for 50p. My brother said no, so he asked again. My brother again said no, later telling me he was fed up with feeling intimidated on his doorstep. The guy then lend up against my brother, opened his coat, and exposed a small kitchen knife. He then said, 'I respect your decision, bruv, but will be waiting for you later'. Luckily, we both walked out the shop together quickly and nothing happened. The shopkeeper was shaken up, but told me it happens regularly. It does worry me so much - if this was late at night, he could have been waiting in the alley by the play ground. Should one just give in and hand over the money, even if it is just 50p? On the other hand, we all work hard to afford to live here, so why should we give in?!
  8. Agreed, it is nice waking up to birds rather than traffic like in my previous place. However, this one bird doesn't stop. I really think it is a mating call. He should go on match.com!
  9. JJB - there is one bastard who I think is out to get me. He sings EVERY morning and wakes me up!
  10. I have noticed this. I get my lunch there and everyday there seems to be less and less on offer in the sandwich section. Even on saturday morning they hardly had any papers. I asked the guy in there (the pleasant til assistant), and he just chuckled and said it's to do with higher management! Tesco is probably coming then!
  11. Si Mangia is fantastic - good food, and really good value!
  12. Joss - let's go! Will be absolutely hilarious. Few ciders, some candy floss - brilliant!
  13. Well someone had a smash coming out of North Cross this morning - highlights the point I think!
  14. xone262 - I do feel bad about how our cars (ludlows) take up quite a bit of space in and around ED. Personally, I try and avoid the roads like Archdale and others off North Cross, simply because they are residential. I can't comment on my colleagues, but I try and leave the car further out on less busy roads, such as Fellbrigg etc.
  15. That seems about right? Pint about 4 quid, white wine (large) about 4.50 - so yeah with peanuts around 9 quid.
  16. 63 is much faster.........12 goes all through Peckham
  17. I saw here! She was outside my office. Poor dear!
  18. Yeah SeanMac I know what you mean. I have grown up with dogs myself so they don't bother me, but I have to be honest, some looks really nasty and I even walk on the other side of the road if I see them acting funny. I also think that if you have your own dog, and thus smell a little of him/her, this can attract the wrong kind of attention!
  19. A friend of mine was walking along LL when a really nasty dog attempted to attack her. Luckily the owners got to it in time (they were window shopping). It looked like one of the breeds that you see on the new constantly. Are they meant to wear something to cover their jaws when they go out? She was really shaken up!
  20. They are everywhere! I get stopped everytime I go for a ciggy! The girl I chatted to was quite sweet actually.
  21. Pandora - You sum it up nicely! Especially in my job, I have people who see SE15 and just say no outright! It is ridiculous, considering Oglander Rd is one of the best roads round here and considered SE15. I personally think Peckham has more soul and character than Dulwich. Rye Lane on a saturday morning is fun and colourful!
  22. Spangles - yes, I think it is a good time to buy, not rent. The problem is that so many people are saying 'I will rent for a year to see what happens to the market', that landlords have cottoned on and are charging much higher rentals. I used to rent a three bed for 1500 last month. Now I am looking at paying 1750!
  23. Bellenden is a great area. (for rent, not buying in this market!) - such a funny comment - do you not realise that rentals are through the roof and you will be paying over the odds? Such dead money!
  24. As did we! Perfect at 4pm when we were all hungry!
