Hi all, We are blessed with a beautiful daughter, aged 2yrs. Have been trying for number 2 for 18 months now with no joy. It only took 3 months to get pregnant before. I did have an emergency c section and I am now worrying that some possible internal damage was caused or I have scar tissue maybe causing problems etc. I don't want to seek medical intervention as I have always accepted what will be will be but I'd rather know now if I can't conceive again. I get my hopes up each month and then get so disappointed when I'm not pregnant. Is there such a thing as having an ultrasound to check everything out? Or do I just be eternally grateful with my daughter?

Baby and toddler healthy eating planner by Amanda grant, full of loads of recipes, quick suppers etc and also freezer batch ideas, puddings too! Very simple and at times when I've not had much in the fridge/cupboard you can rustle something up from the book. :-)

Hi, it may be too confusing if she spends time away from you with someone else and you then move her. How about she spends time with a friend at the friends house, stays the morning and has lunch and you pick her up after lunch? Then shell get used to you coming back etc. Do you have a contact list for the nursery, maybe meet up with others going so she will know people when it's time to go to nursery. Regards Sarah

buying a 2nd hand carseat really that dangerous?
SBot replied to BFeeding Essentials's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If you know where it's come from, it's fine. But yes if it has been involved in an accident there could be damage that you can't see. It's not worth the risk. Kiddicare do car seats brand new, prices around ?35. -
Breaking the news about a new baby bro/sis

Hi, congratulations! I've been a nanny for many years and have been involved in the arrival of a second child, so firstly don't tell her yet, not even until around 6/7 months, time is a lot slower for little ones, a week flies for us but is longer for them. There are lots of lovely books that tell a story about the arrival of a sibling, " there's a house inside my mummy" is great! When you do get nearer the time, lots of positives about how she can be helpful etc. Any odd baby toy still hanging around put it away now! I guess she has dollies but maybe have more play with them, take dolly with her to the shops etc. With the age gap you will have, she will have a lot of understanding so talk seriously to her about it. Keep up with her activities when baby is here, then she won't feel like the baby has stopped her doing the things she enjoys. Best of luck Sarah Best of luck, -
It is only 80% sure that they wont get it.

Hi Jess, ive just replied to your gymboree/tumble tots post. I did my school run when I nannied for two boys using the bike and trailer. The boys loved it, ages 3&5. I kept on the path though when possible.

Gymboree - fixed play equipment Tumble tots- packed away into a van after each day I have experienced both, gymboree a lot more expensive, but if money wasn't a worry I'd do gymboree over tumble tots. First went to tumble tots in 1999 at my first London nanny job, then went to a class earlier this year and it had not changed at all. Same songs sung! Both a lot of fun!

SBot replied to Convex's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, we took our ikea plastic one, was perfect. We could leave it out over night and if it rained!! -
Most likely a tummy bug, keep off the dairy! Offer sips of water, with diaorlyte! Plain toast if he will. It wont go on forever. Best of luck.

Hi, sounds like a tough time. My friends little boy has them and she was advised to not wake him. Just hold them until they calm down. Best wishes.

which cereals do you give and at what age?
SBot replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My 2year old has a mixture, so half a weetabiz, handful of cheerios, handful of rice crispies. Ready brek always a favourite with mashed banana in. Bran flakes are coated in sugar and honey! Mini shredded wheat with the fruit filling she likes too! I do read the ingredients on some of the cereals, strawberry flavoured sugar puffs, now what on earth is in them!! At the moment we have crunchy bran, looks like cat food but she loves them. I really found mixing the cereal much more exciting! And chopped fruit in too! -
I am a nanny (now a mummy) and in a previous nanny job they had a 9 month old, on day 1 of the job I asked where is the steriliser, the mum said, he licks the soles of my shoes so I don't bother anymore! And she used water from the tap, not boiled from the kettle!!

Ideas on how to spend first birthday?
SBot replied to kapaxiana's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For our daughters first birthday we went to tilgate country park (google it). We had a picnic, her first mini milk! There is also a mini farm there, playground, lovely lakes and loads of green space to run around. it was a great day out. She was 2 last week and we went to godstone farm for the day. Enjoy! -
I do morning otherwise they nag you all day....is it time for my party yet?..

Ideas for entertaining my 21 month old in the car!!
SBot replied to SBot's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone. Will invest in some nursery rhyme CDs. Off to Huddersfield on Saturday so will see how we get on. Moving the car seat to the middle is another idea I have been given, Thanks again xxx -
Any ideas please to help keep our 21 month old happier in the car. We have tried giving her books but they end up on the floor and out of out reach. She isn't interested in tv so a DVD player would be no good. Thinking of having CDs but does that mean our car journeys will now be spent listening to nursery rhymes?!?!? All ideas gratefully received. Thanks

Maybe stay and play with him for 5 minutes or so before you take him home. Maybe the staff could let him know that mummy will be here soon, nearly time to go home etc. When you drop him off, tell him you'll bring him his teddy/book/toy train with you when you pick him up. Just a few ideas.
