Potty training at night when toddler not really ready
SBot replied to Pamela78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter will be 4 in June. We have tried the night time dryness 3 times. She is just not ready. We have lifted her at 11pm and she still wets the bed. I believe she is so heavily asleep it just doesn't wake her up. I she still wears a nappy to bed until she's 6, I really don't mind. It's not something that everyone will know about. She is keen though so we've told her if there is no wee in her nappy in the morning then she can stop wearing them. Good luck! -

Could you do snack when you come straight in from school, or even a light meal, cheese on toast etc. and then push tea later each day, start at 5pm, then 5.15 the next day until you are eating at a later time. Maybe even do bathtime etc before the evening meal, this will fill time. I have a friend though gives them cereals or toast just before bed. Good luck!! Sure it's not the toilet calling at 5am?? -
Man knocking on door at 1am asking for money
SBot replied to JLJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been conned out of ?5 like this, a young lady knocks on the door, claims to be a resident of your street, she needs cash for her meter to feed her baby/kids, says she'll pay you back in the morning! Never seen again! Makes you feel stupid but I guess some of us are kind hearted and think we're helping someone out? -
I would highly revommend the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, quite a trek but well worth it! It's a narrow gauge railway so smaller trains much more fun for little people!!

We've applied through Bromley council, I nanny in dulwich but I live in beckenham. We applied on Line but had to give also birth certificate, council tax bill letter and a letter from HM revenue stating where our child benefit comes to. The latter has to be dated after nov 2013 so you need to call to get a current one, this took 2 weeks!!! When you did the on line bit did it state what you needed to provide to support your application. If you've recently moved nearer to a school you may also need to provide previous documents of your old address! Good luck!

We used mavala no bite, check spelling! Used it on my then 18m old, tasted foul, she stopped immediately! The only trouble was then napping as it soothed her to sleep! My grandma gave me ?1 and each time she saw me suck it she took away a penny, after one day I had 97p and was cured!!! Was 12 at the time!! Good luck!!

anyone recommend a good First aid course ?

Is it suitable for Ofsted registration? -
Hi, yes it is slightly too expensive. I am a nanny and a mummy. We attend a playgroup on a Wednesday which is free of charge, children get juice and biscuits, adults get tea and coffee. They have a story time and then singing with a chap who plays the guitar. Maybe if you had a scheduled singing time and/or storytelling maybe 20 mins before the end?? And yes cheaper would be good.

quick question about adding a sibling to a nanny share
SBot replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
As a nanny I wouldn't expect a pay increase if the mother had another child. What you could do (assuming she's managing 3 children), is find a new family that has a new baby too or a child of similar age to your older child. If you're in a nanny share for the childrens benefit over financial reasons, could you have her on own her being your nanny only??? I agree with RichJ, 4 kids is a lot even for a very experienced capable nanny! -
I did sign up to the smart pass, 4.99 for mid week delivery. However, when we had a busy week (hubby and me out alternate evenings) i didn't need to do an online shop, and so I cancelled it. I can easily book a delivery for free, so it wasn't saving me money. The 10% off etc, were usually on things we don't buy. The most I've paid for delivery is 2.99 ( only because I spent under ?75)

It seems that she needs to learn to get herself to sleep. Before when you co slept, she had you there so if she woke in the night she had you and would go back to sleep. Now she has the bottle that gets her to sleep. If she wakes you give her another. So she needs to learn to fall asleep by herself.....then if she wakes in the night ( as most babies/children do), she will be able to get herself back to sleep. I can recommend Katie at Infant Sleep Consultants. She has years of experience as a nanny, maternity nanny, night nanny. Best of luck Sarah

We asked our daughter what she would like for her birthday (3rd birthday too).... She wanted a lawnmower! So that's what she got, so cute watching her and hubby mowing the lawn, she follows him up and down!! So maybe ask her what she would like. Sarah.

I was given a pregnancy pedicure! At Lesley Leale in Dulwich village, ,it was a real treat! -
On a different slant, my 3 year old woke up in the early hours screaming that she had snails in her bed! Nightmare! We have never ever had her sleep in our bed but as she was terrified and trembling and petrified to go back in her bed, I thought ok in you come. Well, the worst night ever! She fidgeted, kicked, ended up sprawled in the middle and me and hubby laying on the edge! Thankfully it was a one off..........so I applaud those that like having their little ones in their bed!

How about renting a holiday cottage for a week? Alton towers not much to do for a 1 yr old.

How about a spa day?

going on a 9hr flight with a 14 month old.......
SBot replied to sweetgirl's topic in The Family Room Discussion
With the popping ears, give him a drink during this time, the sucking helps. Or if he has a dummy, this also can help. Entertainment wise, little books to share, snacks always keep them occupied! Let him stroll up and down the plane if he wants. It might annoy other passengers but action songs too. A small bag of duplo, maybe only 10 pieces but enough to keep his attention for a while. Maybe a little photo album filled with photos of family and also cut outs of his favourite characters, peppa pig pics etc. Good luck!
