  1. Has anyone used a company such as School Fees Advice or similar to plan in advance for school fees? Any recommendations for a reputable company to use for this? Thanks in advance.
  2. I thought Charter is a community school? Must have changed...
  3. Bessemer Grange is within the catchment if you do not get DVIS.
  4. Are you able to go in to school to book the appointment with the Headteacher? A call to the Council's Education department may help advise you on the best steps to take. Their number is: 0845 600 1284 Good luck finding the best solution.

  6. I don't think that is possible - haven't most schools scrapped the January intake?
  7. That price is comparable, if not a bit cheaper, than Freedom Academy so that seems OK value. It's quite far out though from the area, isn't it in Tulse Hill?
  8. How much does it cost?
  9. I have probably left it a bit late to organise the community hall but that is a great idea and something I'll try and plan for the next one - just hoping that doesn't come around too soon.
  10. Our primary school is closed this Thursday for a teacher's strike - any thoughts on what we can do to fill the day locally or maybe not so locally?
  11. Does anyone have any feedback on Tingalingo? I noticed a new course on a day we are free and wondered if anyone can give any feedbackon it's suitability for a 3 year old. Thanks!
  12. Well it rained most of today so maybe it'll be thunder and lightning tomorrow so winter uniform will be fine. I just had visions of her being too hot and stuffy in winter uniform, it's quite bulky.
  13. Thanks but I was after it for Monday (tomorrow) to avoid wearing the winter uniform this week.
  14. Green is exactly the colour I need but I must have missed them as I was in there the other day and couldn't see any. Doh! Will go have another look, thanks!
  15. Any idea where is selling summer uniforms for girls? I went to SAinsburys on dog kennel but they're all into winter uniform. My last resort is the peckham uniform shop which is likely to be open today but i'll be around SE22 / forest hill / sydenham most of the day so wondered if anywhere there would be selling girl's checked uniforms. Thanks!
  16. Dulwich Picture Gallery is ?3 for the kids' sessions, often combines a tour of gallery with art activities.
  17. Go for Corian - you won't be disappointed, it's really lovely stuff!
  18. Re: lack of suitable buildings in ED, what about the empty school building that used to house the New Hope Christian Academy, on East Dulwich Grove? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-to-let/property-36267784.html
  19. I can't imagine that would be possible although it is a nice thought! The waiting list has to follow some defined guidelines else it would be chaos with people swapping places with neighbours/friends etc.
  20. I called for advice last week and had all my questions answered swiftly by phone and later by email. I would call as it's quite near the deadline of Thursday. Admissions and Appeals Team (Lewisham) 020 8314 8282 [email protected] School Admissions (Southwark) 020 7525 5337 [email protected]
  21. Gina - has anyone from the council's schools admissions advised you? I would be wary taking advice from the Forum on what is a complicated matter, just in case you are given information that may not be 100% correct.
  22. For what it's worth, we rejected our place at JKPS a week ago. I received a follow up email from the provisional offer letter in the post and it left too many questions unanswered that I decided not to risk it by accepting the place. I suppose there will be some parents that say yes to JKPS as well as their allocated school via the CAF process because they will want to know the exact location of JKPS before rejecting the place. It doesn't help that the system is set up so it is possible to have 2 places for a school. I do think JKPS should firm up their details sooner otherwise it's tempting to say yes to both, however unethical that may be...
  23. We're in Deptford so I haven't figured out what the daily journey to Kingsdale would be like but if that's a possibility, then I will definitely look into that. I don't know if many of the children at our primary go on to Kingsdale but a few go to Aske's.
  24. Hi Renata - I'll look into this more at the school Open Day. I wonder if drummers are what they are looking for or perhaps they prefer orchestral instruments. My son does show some interest in learning tuned percussion so that could be an option but I'll leave it to him to decide after the Open Day if the scholarship is something that interests him.
