  1. Our school music teacher helped prepare us for the test, it's a lot of electronic beep sounds from what I remember. We downloaded some tests from the piano school and my son secured a Full Scholarship (although not a place through the lottery!). The link is here.
  2. Mirna at the SE22 Piano School tutored our son for his Music GCSE. She's also a singer.
  3. Hi - keen to see this but tickets are a bit pricey, does anyone have a discount code for the Peckham Rye Zippos? Thanks!
  4. Beano magazine is great and easy to find at newsagents or supermarkets. Junior Week is good, usually only stocked in WHSmith, not local newsagents.

All the professions listed above are usually well-paid so they can afford to do some pro bono work. Musicians, on the other hand, rarely have any job security; income is erratic; time spent chasing fees owed is onerous; sick pay/holiday/maternity leave is non-existent, the list goes on.
  6. Would love to take part in this but sadly am not in that area.
  7. Can anyone suggest a backpack for an 8 year old that will fit with the easyjet hand luggage requirements? A pull along case would be too much of a faff at the airport but I need a backpack that ideally has a couple of sections. So far we've been using the school rucksack!
  8. We were at Gumboots 6 years ago and they didn't have terms and conditions like these. The one about paying even if asked to leave is unusual!
  9. Is there an online list of after-school activities for a Year 4 child? I'm struggling to find anything without a long waiting list. Sporty activities preferred. Thanks
  10. Has anyone been to the Winterlights at Dulwich Picture Gallery and would you recommend it? The ticket price is quite expensive so I'd be keen for some feedback to help decide whether to book it. Pricing is: Saturday & Sunday: ?12 Adults, ?8 Children, Family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) ?36
  11. A barrier would be good - I've had a few footballs to the head! Best not to film under 18s but instead ask someone from the council to come and monitor the situation.
  12. Yes although you don't state what your original beliefs are regarding private education.
  13. As far as I know, no sibling policy as entry is competitive (first an examination, then an interview if exam results are at a suitable level to be called for interview) and places are highly sought after.
  14. St Francesca Cabrini accepts non-Catholic students. St John's and St Clements & Dulwich Village Infants have 50% non-church intake (as far as I recall) but you would need to live within the catchment. St Anthony's just off Barry Road doesn't accept non-Catholic students. I think those are the nearest church schools in the SE22 catchment.
  15. We had a party here for 12 x 8 year old boys (plus some older siblings). It was a totally stress-free party experience thanks to Lou's organisation. Each T-shirt produced was a really unique design and we didn't need party bags as there were spin paintings and candy floss to take home. Lou ordered in the pizza and we brought our own cake. I'd definitely recommend these parties as something different to do. The pricing is really reasonable compared to other local party services that don't offer such good value and entertainment, particularly for older children.
