I personally think there are plenty of clubs. The clubs available increased gradually as the children get older. My son is now in year 3 and he does something most days. We are very happy with rosemead. its small and nurturing but also has great results.

I have 3 children and the oldest two (boys) are so fussy. it drive me insane. they eat olives, broccoli and carrots. The only dinner they both like is sausages and meatballs. one likes pizza, one likes fish fingers, and they can be pushed into eating chicken but my oldest is just about in tears if he hears he's having it. He actually behaves like he's scared of certain food. At school he has to have a school lunch, and most days he has bread and cheese. My daughter, aged 13 months is a really good eater but I'm worried she'll start copying they boys soon. I hoped the boys would grow out of it but at age 7 my oldest is showing no signs. we had a wonderful nanny for 6 months and she said the best way to deal with it was to give offering new food, but don't make a fuss if they don't eat it. just calmly take it away and don't offer anything else. it works a bit with my middle child but not the eldest. think he has some kind of food phobia!

Once an early riser, always an early riser?!
Jacks50 replied to akc74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
my oldest (7) was a terrible sleeper as a baby and toddler, and always woke really early - 5.30 ish I think - but now is much better and wakes around 7, so there's hope!! -

Reflexology/ acupuncture to induce labour
Jacks50 replied to lilygogan's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had acupuncture to help things along with my 3rd baby at the clinic above heath matters on LL, with Dan. I think he was brilliant, and after the second session (i think, although it might have been the 3rd!!!) I went into labour. I defiantly think it was the acupuncture that did it, but they do say your body has to be ready for acupuncture to work, and if I remember correctly they don't normally recommend doing it early if its your first pregnancy as you're unlikely to be ready early. Does that make sense?! Clear as mud? I guess if you're trying to avoid an early induction then anything is worth a try!! Good luck -
does anyone know of a new nursery opening on barry road? I heard a rumour that another branch of a nursery was opening but I can't remember the name and I can't find any info about it! I thought it was little fingers but I've googled it and can't find anything. I'm trying to find a nursery for my 11 month old, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

I've never taken it but one of my friends used to - If I remember correctly there's two you can get to get there on time, the later one is busy, but the slightly earlier one is fine. not sure if that helps!

My daughter was tongue tied and it wasn't spotted for ages - a doc and a number of midwives checked for TT and said she wasn't. It wasn't until I paid for Jill Dye to come and visit that she was said DD was TT. I then went to my GP who referred me to the Pediatric department at kings, so I wait weeks and weeks for an appointment. However while waiting for an appointment I went to one of the breast feeding clinics to get some help and the HV referred us to the tongue tie clinic at kings and we went within 2 weeks. They did the snip on my daughter at the clinic at the first appointment, which was a nightmare!! I think she was too old by this time and I found the whole experience absolutely awful However, Just about everyone else I know or spoke to about it found it very straight forward with no probs at all. My advice, after 3 children, one who breast feed really well and two who were very difficult is that you might not get the help you need at kings as they are so busy, but the breastfeeding clinics and Jill Dye were amazing and very helpful. Also, not everyone medical person can spot a tongue tie, so if you are having trouble, get to a BF clinic and ask them to check, or better still, get Jill over, she's amazing and so cheap for what she does! Good luck!

not forgetting the very nice bag of books they give your baby!!

I find the problem with barry road is going across it from either upland or underhill oad - you can't see because of the cars parked. you have to pull out to see if anything is coming, and they do come along quite fast.

3.5 YEAR OLD STILL WEARING A PULL UP TO BED
Jacks50 replied to IrishDancer's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I read somewhere that its not something that they can learn, it just happens at some point. some are earlier than others. My son is nearly 3.5 and he's still in pullups at nights (I just got him out of them in the day a few months ago!) but I'm not worried - infact, the longer he stays in them the better, so he doesn't wake even earlier to go to the loo! -

Hi there, Can anyone suggest any clubs/playgroups etc for a 3 year on Tuesdays or Thursdays? Thanks so much!

Poor you!! I feel your pain. I have three children and they've all been terrible sleepers (probably something I did wrong) and we've had to do cc with all three, which, like everyone I absolutely hated. It sounds like your daughter is waking at the end of each sleep cycle so she's just struggling to put her self back to sleep, in which case I guess the answer is to go back to cc. We did CC with my third child about 6 weeks ago but we used something similar to this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vtech-Baby-Bear-Sweet-Dreams/dp/B0041M5USA/ref=sr_1_99?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1304541384&sr=1-99 which we hadn't used with the other two and its really made life alot easier. we only used the sound part, not the lights. she goes to sleep at bed time with it so its like a sleep prompt. If she wakes in the night and cries, the music starts and most of the time (touch wood) she goes back to sleep. We tightened down on the bedtime routine when we started the cc thing too. Tea at 5, (late feeding can cause waking in early evening apparently) some milk at 6.30 ish, then a quick, 5 min bath, (something about raising body temp then it falling again produces the sleep hormone) quick dry and dressed, then a bit more milk and into bed. I think the idea is to make going to sleep at bed time as easy as poss so she gets the hang of it on her own, which will help her fall asleep on her own when she wakes from a sleep cycle in the night. I've really rambled on! I"m so sorry. Its a big topic for me though having been through it so many times so I like to share it with anyone who will listen! and I'm not a great example as our baby was awake at 5.30 this morning so we put her in our bed and she went back to sleep! good luck and remember its all just a phase and will soon pass!

Toilet trained but won't poo in loo - advice please
Jacks50 replied to kemurf's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had the same problem with DS1, and as everyone else said, we just gave him time and a bit of encouragement, but not pushy, as this made it worse. Might be worth getting her to sit on the loo but with the nappy on when she needs a poo. then after a while try and talk to her about taking it off. I've heard this can work although we didn't try it. Goof luck! Hope she gets the hang of it soon but defiantly don't stress about it, she'll get used to it in her own time.
