Strange bottles full of orange liquid
Lynne replied to tarafitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What about if the wierdo wants publicity? Perhaps he/she wants pictures of their urine spread across the world and now we're feeding this strangeness? Lynne -
Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?
Lynne replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I recently heard two elderly women talking in Farmers. One said "there's nothing in east Dulwich any more for the likes of us" Do people think this is sad or do they think that it merely reflects the changes in ED? Lynne -
I had a purse nicked at London Bridge station, too. Obviously a hot spot Lynne

Strange bottles full of orange liquid
Lynne replied to tarafitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No buses go by here, nor coaches nor taxis so that's out, I'm afraid. And, no matter what, you can't get away from the fact that no matter why anyone should want/need to pee into a botle, it can be disposed of down a drain even if you haven't a loo. No, this is weird Lynne -
I've had my car window broken in Kent, my purse stolen in Bath, my car keyed in Wiltshire, sh=t happens. ED is a good place Lynne

Strange bottles full of orange liquid

I put a post on about this too, under "Yellow fluid" If anyone wants to open it and have a sniff, they're welcome. I don't fancy it myself. And if it was a camper van or cooking oil or anything vaguely reasonable, well, there are drains. It's honestly disturbing to think that someone is this weird when you live nearby. I feel sorry for the Council's cleaning people (and it's not often I say that) Lynne -
parking solution: display time cards
Lynne replied to mynamehere's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In Weymouth, Dorset, you can buy cheap scratch cards for a certain number of days per quarter which enable you to park in the central area. This seemed to work. They weren't specific to any car, so you could lendit to a visitor if you were prepared to leave you own car further out Lynne -
Good for you. Someone in our street taped a message to the bins that she left in the road everyday saying how important it was to her that she had a parking place. And no, she wasn't disabled. I have been known to move them. Lynne

Can we get back to facts? Which school imposed the poppy rule? You see, I don't think that this can be done and I'd be mildly surprised if any school had. There may have been some pressure from particular teachers/older pupils, but I don't think it could be mandatory so I would like someone to quote me chapter and verse, Lynne

What's the rule about people leaving their bins in the road to reserve their parking place? I do agree about bins on ther pavement, but many people have such small front gardens that they've now become full of bins Lynne

Yes, thanks. But obviously then I'm not the only person who didn't know Lynne

If there were fewer estate agent cars it might help. My record is 35 in three neigbouring streets. If there were CPZs, jut out of interest, how many permits would they be allowed? Lynne

Am I the only one who's wasted timwe and fuel driving to the recycling yard on Manor rd only to find it had been closed? I haven't seen any publicity for this and it would have been nice to know Lynne

Concrete House Lordship Lane - Public Inquiry
Lynne replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I understood that permission was given for the new(ish) adjoining part on the understanding that the rent was used to renovate the old part. Is this just an urban myth? And I would like to join with all the people who feel it's a disgrace that for over 30 years it's been allowed to fester and rot. it's lucky no-one has been hurt by its collapse Lynne -
Concrete House Lordship Lane - Public Inquiry
Lynne replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's been over 30 years, to my knowledge Lynne -
The corner of Worlingham/Crawthew Rd is often usual as fly-tipping spot, but recently someone really really weird has taken to leaving plastic bottles full of a nasty looking yellow fluid there. If it's what it looks like, someone is very sick, mentally and physically. Please don't do it. About 20 bottles were cleared up but it's starting being dumped again.

Hi. Dulwich library used to be one of the best libraries in SE London. Now I don't bother going, and haunt the charity shops for cheap books instead. They never see to buy any new books, presumably because of the budget cuts, and they threw away all the "not exactly classics but not coloured pink or featuring a family saga" books years ago. The rot really made its presence felt when they re-decorated it. OK, it looks good, but it meant that lots of shelves were scrapped so the book stock really diminished. When I complained about this, I was told that it now provided a better environment for the librarians. Well, as a librarian, I never thought that my job was there just to make me comfortable Lynne

Hi.At peak time the congestion to get down the bottleneck of the steps could be dangerous, I think. There's room to expand into the shrubbery (if that's ever dug up, look out for the Victorian bottle bank around there.)Could there be a slope instead? And how are wheelchair users suppose to get up? It's bad enough for pushchairs Lynne

Yes, please please a direct train to East Crodon, as before

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Lynne replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi. I don't know if anyone else has raised this, but could the exits to East Dulwich station be improved?. They are very difficult for pushchairs and must be impossible for wheelchairs. I thought stations had to be designed to accomodate the disabled? Also the exits, especially if you're coming form London Bridge, are so narrow that if there were an accident at rush hour, it could be dangerous. There's plently of room for widening Lynne -
Totally agree with all the complaints about bins. I have very small front garden which is now not a garden but a bin store. Don't they realise that people want their environment to look good? My equally small kitchen is now supposed to be full of rotting food. We already have rats in our back garden. I tried ringing Southwark to see if I could keep my old recyling box and return the blue bin, but of course the switchboard didn't know the answer and no-one has returned my call, as promised How much has all this cost us council tax payers? Lynne

Don't think the Upland/CPRd is either M1s. I was always told it was a special Police operations place.

Yesterday afternoon there were 7 Foxton's cars in Crawthew Rd. 7!! Plus two other agents. Crawthew rd isn't very long, either. Only just started reading this site. Is it worth talking to one's Councillors?
