  1. Does anyone know why there were 2 pc's posted at the school gate on tuesday morning? just curious. i have asked around but no body seems to know....
  2. dear james, I know nothing about the green chain walks, but i'd like to know more. My kids and I like to explore new things .
  3. There are new gates at the corner entrance to Camberwell old Cemetery, replacing a rather rickety wooden gate.I am so pleased. I have to admit that when the council closed this entrance I thought here we go, it'll be years before they get around to dealing with it, but i am pleasantly surprised. I live near this entrance and my children and I enjoy walking around and exploring this place.
  4. Dear Curmudgeon, You would be aware of the Arethusa trip if you had a child in year 3. I did try to broach the subject with teachers at parents evening, a week before last term. I was informed that I would be told about the trip at the start of the following term . We were not, only now as we approach december am I being informed.
  5. As we all are aware the Arethusa trip approaches on january 10th. I know from experience that the kids love this trip, it might very well be the first time they have been away from home, and it is all so exciting. The school is very brave to continue this tradition given all the possible things that could go wrong....but good for them, the rapport between pupil and teacher is pretty much unbreakable after this trip. I am therefore pretty unhappy with the short timing of payments of this trip. The school has to have known this trip would occur, but why leave it so late? The majority of people will be paid at the end of November, the next payslip being the end of January, the December payslip will be after the 17th , meaning they have already broken up, which means you cannot get the full payment to the school on time. Dire straits for a lot of parents.
  6. Does anyone know what is happening to the building on the corner of Underhill rd and Overhill rd ? The basement appears to be occcupied with clothing on hangers, the ground floor just has drapes obscuring the interior. If its squatters good luck, about time someone lived there, shame , great piece of land , ugly building.
  7. dear daveR, you are very eloquent. I would still like to know how the school can justify the expenditure in such a glossy appearance . The most important information seems to be hard to come by, term dates, parent-teacher consultations, school trips, school dinners(or lack of last term), timetables etc. Could not the agreement be set out on a photocopied piece of paper like the rest of our information? Or has that not been an efficient way of contacting parents.....?
  8. Dear ted, I,m not whinging. The school has spent upwards of a gestimate of two and a half thousand pounds doing this stuff, i can't help but think this money would have have been better spent.
  9. After some correspondence from the school we were given a pizza like leaflet outlining what the school expected from us as parents, from the pupils, and the teachers. Things like, observing respect for others, punctuality, completion of homework, keeping the school fresh with new ideas......I have a few a new ideas, i'm not sure they would appear in that leaflet.
  10. I have it on an another authority that the school has also employed the services of another company. Their job has been to work out how many 'sick days' members of staff have taken. The cost of this is high. I think the school itself could work out this conundrum ,realising that they are not a business, and after all a service that as tax payers we expect.
  11. Has anyone who has received this form via the school had any thoughts about it? I couldn't help but think what a blatant waste of money this has been, an exercise in stating what should be obvious to the majority of parents. I would like to know ( as a parent ), how the school can justify this expenditure. Your thoughts please.
