Somewhere to celebrate after Christening
cheryla replied to Annakstanley's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi I have had two Christening functions at Belair house upstairs and they were great! -
reception staff at The Gardens Surgery
cheryla replied to Anna D's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I totally agree and think the attitude of the staff at the surgery is disgraceful, you wouldn't get away with it in any other workplace so why is it acceptable in a GP surgery? Their telephone manner is worse, I never make appointments for myself when I need to because of it and only go in when the children need to be seen. -
Hi We live on Grove Hill road and regularly walk through the estate when walking our dog and to East Dulwich Train station. We pass through at different times of the day and night and its completely quiet, there is never any noise or people hanging around so I wouldn?t worry about it at all.

Lewisham, Kings, St Thomas? How to make the decision...
cheryla replied to Ellie78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree with all points above, don't commit to a hospital based on convenience. We are a high risk birth and so need the help that Kings can give us during and after the birth. Likewise if you find yourself having a low risk birth then Lewisham maybe better. Good Luck! -
Planning permission - how??? Neighbour from hell
cheryla replied to Mabel2001's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How awful, I live on Grove Hill road and there is enough concrete in the area as it is - we need more green space not less. I would strongly suggest you look into this as if the relevant planning or permissions have not been followed correctly ask them to reinstate what was there - Good luck!!! -
Hi Thanks for all the advice so far. We have ruled out the Bee as we have a dog and need to be able to push the buggy over uneven terain at times and my friends wheels have worn out twice in no time so are opting out of that. I quite liked the idea of the Stokke as it allows you more eye to eye contact but it just looks like babies are sitting in a car seat almost with no room to move around - I think the Camelon might be better as its been out there longer and I've never heard of a bad report on it? Thanks and please keep your advise coming. NB. Great tip on taking a baby to try them out, I'll try and do that!

Hi I am trying to research prams/buggies and wondered if anyone could recommend/or not a Stokke or a Bugaboo - which is best - please help?

ED Dog Lovers - where to go with a dog around here?
cheryla replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This post is not about dog poo its about dog friendly parks and cafes. Please do not boycott it, if you want to start another thread on dog poo in the area please do so! I would recommend the Victoria on Bellenden Rd, very dog and family friendly with good food. -

Hi I just wanted to say how distressing it is to hear of so many muggings over the past weeks - a lot of which are what you would perceive to be at safe times of the day to walk the streets. As a 31 year old woman I now find myself nervous walking home from the station ? even walking my dog in Dulwich park! Is there anywhere safe anymore ? what can we do? I dont want to say it but whithout my husband I do feel vunarable going out and about incase I get mugged and I can imagine some elderly/younger people feel the same.

I am about to get on this bus from Farringdon back to Peckham, it takes 45mins, even in the heavy snow over winter when the trains were off and traffic was a nightmare it never took longer than an hour, its easy and stress free!

Hi I am starting my search early! I will need childcare from July 2011 onwards, Monday to Friday from 8.00 - 6.30pm approx and was looking for either a nanny share or childminder in the East Dulwich/SE5 area. Please let me know if you are interested in buddying up on a nanny share for around that time or are a childminder/nanny who is interested in reserving a place at this early stage. So much to do before the baby is born, just trying to get organised as much as possible! Thanks
