  1. I might be slightly demotivated to find I was on the lowest pay possible... I'd work better if my employer rounded up a bit
  2. another vote for the Ledbury it's one of the best in london at the moment. or the kitchen table - fatastic experience Ferran Andria even ate there when he was in london recently. Went to the Dairy in Clapham , loved it, v good and not crazy Michelin prices.
  3. I'd recommend under floor heating. I love it in our bathroom, we got topps tiles stuff so not particularly expensive but it works fine under tiles in a small bathroom. some tiles are a bit hotter that others but overall it's nice to have toastie feet in the winter, something you might not think of if your decorating in summer.
  4. My decking really needs it so would love to borrow/hire a power spray, can pay in hard cash or alochol. Ideally would like to have it for a day over the weekend, will of course pick up and drop off. Please pm me, will be much appreciated.
  5. I'm 41 and had my second a month before my birthday. It was a relatively easy pregnancy though I was bigger and more achy than my first pregnancy 4 years earlier, so my experience was not like yours. I think you can get a whole lot of anecdotal examples that show pregnancy is easy or difficult after 40 but we can't predict how it will be for you. Agree with angelabbie, would be ideal to speak to a GP or midwife about your fears?
  6. If you decide on GLTC stuff try to buy on sale I am constantly getting sale emails from them, check for discount codes too. I have some of these 3 sprouts canvas cubes in daughters bedroom - http://www.nubie.co.uk/furniture/toy-storage cheaper here but not as big a range of animals - http://www.dottyhippo.co.uk/storage-cubes/ Have also bought storage basket/boxes from zara home.
  7. Have you considered renting from someone instead of a hotel? We rented a lovely 2 bed place in Deia Mallorca through home owners direct. This year we rented flats though air bnb in Madrid and Valencia. You can get great locations this way and home comforts, dvd players, bbq,, wifi ect. I like to be able to go to the local market for bread, cheese, breakfasts.
  8. Good Luck with the transition. I am a great believer in starting as you mean to continue. Do not stay late at work, let it be known you have a train you catch at x time, don't negotiate. I find that once you have "set your stall out" people know your limits and accept and work with them. I stay late as and when required so I can be relied on, but I don't set up meetings too late in the day, it's only the odd occasion I stay late - if it's a necessity not a regular thing. I enjoy getting home, daughter is happy to see me (more so than anyone else has ever been!) so bad work moods aren't worth holding onto. Hope your daughter's moody phase passes fast! Agree with everyone else - cleaner, food processor, online shopping, making big batches and freezing, anything to make things easier. Even if your husband is doing all the cleaning now getting a cleaner might ease things up for him and give you more time as a couple. You mention that you don't want kids fighting for your attention. I don't have the please of more than one ( although number 2 is due). Perhaps putting the youngest down before the older ones so that you have individual time with each? Or spending one on one time at the weekends so that family time together during the week isn't an issue. Don't feel guilty this is the way it is for many families and they don't fall apart. Good luck, hope you enjoy the job.
  9. We live in Forest Hill and recently stayed here - http://www.telegraphhillbandb.com/ when work being done. Agree re air b n b, might get somewhere closer. good Luck.
  10. Hi There, I am a Project Manager, in the ECommerce/Software development sphere. PRINCE 2 is old fashioned as it is a "Waterfall" methodology while the trend in my field is towards more "Agile" type methodologies - googling these terms will give you more info than I can and save me time. I think there is still a place for PRINCe 2 even if you don't follow it to the letter - it's document and process heavy, it frames projects and gives you a checklist of what to consider. Also gives you PM speak. I would try to get some experience as spending money on a course and trying to get an interview off the back of that, would be a struggle I'd imagine - I wouldn't be rushing to interview you.. Try to get involved in projects where you work, is that possible? I don't know about the print industry but any move to make your content online is worth volunteering for? Implementing a new system? Look for Junior PM roles, they will not be looking for you to be qualified, will probably expect to pay for some training. You would be taking a salary hit but I think after a few years you could easily progress quickly. I'm sure a lot of experience you have gained is transferable to a PM role. If you have any questions I can help with let me know.
  11. lenster you are brilliant! - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1078961,1092629#msg-1092629 thank you
  12. There was a thread a few (might have been quite a few) months ago about a toy - not meccano or lego but a build type toy. Can anyone remember what it was? I will definitely find something on this site - http://www.brightminds.co.uk/
  13. Use the ofsted site to gauge the nursery options near you. Then arrange to go visit them. You do get a feel for which is best so would recommend you and your wife visiting together. You don't want to be too far from home and/or transport links as you will be doing the drop off and pick up. My husband and I do nine day fortnights so alternate a day off each wk so our daughter is only in 4 days and we are both dropping 10% salary only. 2 days off a month doesn't impact our jobs much. Might be an option. Good luck.
  14. Not sure if you have found your pirate yet - I used Tea Dance for Little People - http://www.tdlp.co.uk/ they done some pirate and fairy themed activities, very imaginative and held the attention of 20 kids. Recommended.
  15. I have a girl but I did notice that monsoon are doing young boy clothes now, some bright toddler style stuff amongst the mini man..
  16. Many Thanks EDAus, that's exactly what I was after.
  17. Is anyone aware of a Wednesday (morning preferable) activity that's good for 3 year olds. Happy to pay for class. I vaguely remember someone posting info on all local activities - or was that a hallucination? Please help, out growing the current Wed activity. Thanks.
  18. We went to Lisbon then Porto when our daughter was about 18mths. Used the home owners direct site to get accommodation. Went to the dolphin show at the zoo not sure where I stand on that morally but it was great fun. We found the locals to be very kid friendly. Even managed to put her to bed and then sneak her out in lie flat buggy with a jacket over it while we went to out to eat a couple of nights. Enjoy.
  19. Fair few articles in the guardian about pesky yummy mummies recently. Apparently if you have a pram you are a self entitled madam spending hubbies bonus....
  20. I was happy with my medula mini - my tip is to pump in the am when you wake up. Agree that you pump into the medula bottle but transfer into another bottle or bag. Also not sure what age your baby is but my supply definitely increased around the 3 mth mark so don't panic if you cant pump much at the start.
  21. I bought one for my daughters 2nd bday from ELC - you can take the parent handle off (says for up to 36mths) but changed my mind and thought maybe she was too old and I'd send it back.... Still have it in box unopened. If you are interested let me know - it's in primary colours not girlie.
  22. Another vote for gently elephant, they stock http://www.bobux.co.uk/ which I am now a fan of.
  23. Different type of activity but at around the 7 mth mark we started sing and sing in east dulwich (goose green). Today my 2.5 yr old asked for more with the sign saying "more like a baby". We loved it,the "more" sign was a brilliant first communication she would come into the kitchen and make it, letting us know she wanted food or water.
  24. so excited about the snow. Help, where can i buy a sledge? (I'm thinking blythe hill)
  25. Yes hot water, run under a hot tap or pour a kettle over it.
