I don't like it, it's like a supermarket. There's hardly anywhere for the poor people working there to sit down. Seems a bit harsh to make them be on their feet all day.

Hello parents of the forum, I'm due in June and due to a long moving situation have only just confirmed where i will be living when my little one is born. Many people have recommended NCT but practically all the classes around where we are now and the new place are booked up now - the only one left is on a friday when myself and my partner both are at work so either we would both have to take AL or I would go alone which kind of ruins the point of going and makes it even more expensive than it is.. My question is are there any alternatives that anyone knows of around the ED/Forest Hill/Sydenham/CP area? I'm already going to the NHS ones at Kings which are great but wonder if these are enough? Thanks for any thoughts and experiences!

This morning I noticed that a beautiful crab apple tree near Goodrich Primary School has been, literally, sawn in half. All that remains is half a trunk, the canopy is gone. The tree is one of many malus planted along Goodrich Road, they are beautiful, healthy trees and were in full fruit. I'm very sad about this and just wanted to know whether anyone who lives near the tree could shed any light on why/how this may have happened? Thanks

This case sounds very sad if it is a healthy and productive plum tree, i wish you the best of luck in saving them. Definitely call the Council and ask to speak to the Tree Officer - Tree Officers love trees and Councils don't usually cut down healthy trees unless they have become diseased or members of the public have campaigned to get them cut down - this does happen, not everyone wants trees on their streets, strange but true. Also try to call the Arboricultural Association 01794 368 717, [email protected] who can assist with campaigning to save trees. However, the tree may have been diseased - it's not always easy to see whether a tree is diseased at first glance and sometimes you have to remove them otherwise they will become dangerous. Work has to be done on trees in Autumn/Winter so that birds are left undisturbed in Spring and Summer - this is probably why you are seeing so many signs on trees. GOOD LUCK!
